Picking the right club is most important. Is your daughter developing or do the coaches just showcase the top 3-5 girls. Most clubs don't go to invite only until HS. My advice -make sure the club respects multisport athletes-less injuries and the college coaches like that. Top tier clubs will cut girls no problem if the next best thing comes along.

Most of the board and coaches have left due to some sketchy financial practices of owner. His landscaping company was in news for its multiple lawsuits.

During a summer football team meeting the coach says they want players to play more than one sport then hands out the 6 day a week summer practice schedule. My son decided to just play lacrosse. My daughter has the same issue with volleyball. Coaches urge players to play multiple sports but then make you commit to a near impossible schedule.

Having been there let your child decide what she wants to do while focusing on academics and having fun being a child.

Any talk of D1 this and that at 7th grade is pure nonsense. Physically these girls are just starting to change. Like our neighbor by 11th grade she found a better fit with softball than as a midfielder.

Your HS practices football 6 days a week during the summer before the season even starts?

All clubs do that ! not just the top ones...every team knows who is getting cut and what players they need or are coming to them before tryouts...

As a sports medicine physician overuse injuries and burnout are real. over 50% of these girls who start club at 3rd and 4th grade are done by high school. It's a fact. Let them have fun. Get serious in middle school and it will work its way out. Multiple sports and downtime for rest recovery and healing and fun. And academics and community service.

Agree 100%-we just joined a team with that same philosophy. The president of the club is a sports doctor as well.

Hey Doc,....please provide the facts for your statement. Since you posted anonymous I'm skeptical about your sports medicine MD credentials along with the facts you stated.
