Cute way to brag about your kid transferring to pequa Not the dad or original pster, but sounds like a mature question. Why announce, it will become obvious and you'll all know by April 1st. That was quite possibly the dumbest response ever on this board. First, it was not an "announcement" it was a question. April 1 is the magic date huh? By your logic, on April 1 can you post the score of the Ward Melville v Chaminade Game on April 7 and the Woodstick classic on April 28th? Thanks. or maybe, just maybe, by April 1st there will be a few games in the books for all to see who is rockin' and rollin'. Why "announce" on BOTC who the Surprise team of the year? Removes the sleeper factor. I am sure the date could have been 4/7 or 4/14. Thinking about it 4/1 is a good date, 2-3 games may have been in by 4/1. (one caveat is SOS) Duh! Did you even read the initial post? Nobody announced a "surprise team"... The question was asked about any significant transfers from one school to another like the Duke commit (Kberg D transfer to Pequa? F for your entire post.

Okay, Or maybe I understood better than you did, we will see come 4/1. And if what I think might happen doesn't, no pressure on anyone. A+ for me!

Only 4 LI teams on the RR preseason list (which is by far the most reliable and respected).
Can’t believe how low the reputation of LI lacrosse has fallen in the past 5 years. Especially the LI public programs.... gone are the days of WI and Scotty Craig or GC carrying the weight if LI in their shoulders.
Catholics always represent but usually not much higher than #5.
This year only WM and Pequa. It’s sad really! Respect for LI lax has diminished greatly.
Public programs no longer competing. They don’t play other national teams. Almost like LI teams hide from competition and rely on past teputation so as to not get exposed.
At least Catholics play real out of conference schedules bit the public’s don’t. MD and PA teams don’t want to come to LI and public’s don’t really travel.
1. Culver (Ind.)
2. Calvert Hall (Md.)
3. Hill Academy (Ont.)

231 Syosset (NY). bahhhahhahhah! Point 1) Why not move the 2 Li Catholics to CT the way their schedules read, geez one might think those 2 Catholics schools are affraid to stay home and play the public. Point 2). This list is a joke, it has been said before, many of these are prep schools. Big difference from public HS, those public's on here much respect. And don't get me started about TP ( do you really apply to attend a 2800 student school whose avgs are above the charts, Hmm). Or Darien's antics. Point 3) Li public's only get 2 non conference and don't have budgets. You think a ranked opponent will want to risk coming to Li and lose to a Riverhead or an ESM.

Go catholics! I'll give you a center part while I pat you on your head while you're... never mind.
Respect is earned and it seemed there was a public team or two from LI last year you conveniently left out... Loser.

Why would a Public HS team pay to play any of these other teams? The competition is here, so this is where they will play out of conference.

So true most of these teams have 19 20 yr old seniors. I have been there done it. It is an advantage folks. Seen it first hand. People don't realize that period between 17 to 20 for young men is huge.

Yes because playing Haverford, Brunswick, Avon, Culver, Calvert Hall, Darien, Delbarton, The Hill Academy, is the exact same level of competition as playing , Copaigue, North Babylon, Brentwood, Pat Med, Bay Shore, Lindenhurst, Floyd, in Suffolk 1 come on lets not get silly. The top 5 to 7 teams in any Public Long Island division are competitive teams, after that not so much

At least Catholics play real out of conference schedules bit the public’s don’t. MD and PA teams don’t want to come to LI and public’s don’t really travel.

The top 5 to 7 teams in any Public Long Island division are competitive teams, after that not so much 5-7 is really pushing it. 3-5 more like it.

just look at the number of kids from each state that are committing to colleges to play lacrosse. the numbers are starting to even out a little but LI/NY are still on top.

My public school is rank in top 20, if our 4 D1 seniors from last year did a PG year and where still on team we be top 5 in nation. Please don't compare rich cheating kids, to hard working on age public kids. Might be the best post ever on this site. Most of these top schools are loaded with kids that are nearly 20 years old or will be 20 by season end. They've been recruited to play at these schools from all over the country and Canada. LI publics on this list are made up of kids from one small town. Not even are remotely close apples to apples comparison.

It's not about comparing individual talent, the overall recruiting numbers are proof of that. Those private and catholic teams are what they are because of all the reasons you stated (heavy recruitment, Pg's, geography etc.) Taking that into account however, those teams absolutely play the game at a different level than the average Long Island high school team, and well they should. Watch a game and there is no comparison, except of course for the top few LI teams. When people on here start making ridiculous statements that the teams on the list do not come to Long Island in fear of being upset I HIGHLY doubt that is the reason.

But in all honesty public schools form where ever can not compete with the Elite Prep Schools that is a fact because ONE they recruit and two they all have the oldest kids on the field . Why do you think all the top D1 teams take prep kids first because the are gaining an extra year of physical growth . Just enjoy your HS experience with your son and don't worry what other teams outside your sons league is doing ... Good Luck this Season to all ...

I'd rather have my son get great grades and go IVY, than paying 55k for a PG program so he can sit the bench on DUKE.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does PG stand for? Post Graduate It means your not one of the stand out players in your age group, so you repeat the grade so u play against younger kids. Not quite. It most likely means you're a spectacular player that needs an additional year to get your academic standing up. Not everyone loves school, and for some it doesn't come as easy. That's what a PG was always about. A post graduate year after graduating on age from HS. Some call holdbacks PG's, they are not. They are the cheaters.

LI publics on this list are made up of kids from one small town. Not even are remotely close apples to apples comparison. Your exactly correct. Just so everyone is aware a Public school by law can not play schools that have PG's in the program this is a fact . Couldn’t have said it better. There is no comparison and these prep schools should have their own ranking. True. I'd rather have my son get great grades and go IVY, than paying 55k for a PG program so he can sit the bench on DUKE. You think no PG's go IVY? Take a look ath their rosters.

Maybe you haven't heard about the (not so) new trend of players who claim they INTEND to do a PG year and play down with that as the stated reason . . .
