Wow. The jealousy runs deeper than ever. You people have reached an all time high. Keep sending your kids to our tryouts though. The clubs appreciate your $’s. But don’t get your hopes up. Your kids will be back on their B teams next year. And the jealousy cycle starts anew!

Blah, blah, blah, don't hate WP and Taz just because they are better than everyone else on LI. But it is OK for WP and Taz to humiliate any one below them, or bash the team that is above them (Madlax). Hypocritical, huh!?!

Obviously the Legacy brand is a subpar brand in travel lacrosse. C’mon, they came to be, from a merger between Riptide and Havoc Dunedogs. They have a couple of decent teams, of which Taz is one. That’s it. On the landscape of significant travel clubs, they don’t exist. Not sure what will happen to Taz, but if my son were on the team, I would be seriosly thinking about other clubs, at this point. When it comes time for recruiting, those kids are at a serious disadvantage.

It wasn't long before the insanely stupid, "If you're not AA, you're B" quotes finally come out. Stupid is as stupid does . . . !

Both WP and TAZ are fantastic teams there is no doubt but how many articles do you read about great lacrosse players not getting recruited because they were pigeon holed into one sports. The fact is NCAA coaches are looking for multiple sport athletes. Kids that play on teams that are not labeled "AA" but are able to play multiple sports fair much better in the recruiting process because ultimately they are better athletes. Big difference in a multiple sport athlete who has handled a few losses in his youth travel games and a kid that hardly handles defeat but when they do they are taught by there parents to act is if the sky is falling. Coaches notice that.

You're really going to hate this... but as I've posted before, the core reason why this group is so good, is because they are tremendous athletes first and lacrosse players second. Most are top level athletes in this grade year, anywhere. They are top top players in every sport they play. By the way, there isn't one child on the team that is a lacrosse-only athlete. All of them play several sports (almost always at least 3) including football, soccer, basketball and even baseball, along with any other sport they can fit into their busy schedules. Other travel teams too (not lacrosse). I don't know where you got the idea that these kids only play lacrosse. That is completely ridiculous! Nothing could be further from the truth. Sorry Charlie.

However take those same kids and now combine them with kids who aren't as skilled like they will face when they get into Junior high and high school and suddenly they don't look quite like the superstars they did before. Good, great players however you like to refer to them as will lift up the the playability of their teammates. Hopefully your kid who is a true athlete as you suggest will continue to be the team leader past his sixth grade taz yrs.

This team has worked hard, year-round, since 2nd grade, back when no other travel teams, except Taz, existed. While all you Nassau daddy’s were playing with your kids in the sand box, snickering and saying it’s too early to start kids in travel, our “entitled” kids were busting their butts, laying the ground work for future success. These kids have EARNED every bit of success that they enjoy, through a relentless blue collar work ethic. No GC silver spoons in this group!

I guess by using your theory, it would be better if a child or children played on lower level teams against lesser competition so when they too venture to high school and mixed with those same even lesser players,will make a better recipe for success..
Some of you people are just so wrapped up in beating up on these kids,move on with your life,its youth lacrosse, tip your hat to them,most of them are very skilled due to practice, training and athletic ability......geeez...and BTW, they are 11-12 years old children

90% of them are 12, and have been for quite sometime. Alot of 2005 dob's on those teams.No Hate- just a fact! When you take athletic older boys hold them back in K for lacrosse and have them practice all the time,Yes the odds are quite good they will be a dominant team. WP TAZ and now Express in same conversation. The thing is, there are many really really good on age kids (2006's) that might not have gotten the nod in the past.Believe it or not 1yr still makes a big difference! Also i also know many quality kids that do NOT want to play on Taz,wp and express that could make those squads.

Good question. Talk about irrelevant... do they even have a team at this age? Always thought they were a decent organization. What happened with the ‘24’s? Not looking to aggravate, but after the top 3 teams and maybe a 4th (Igloo), they fall in line with the rest of the (bad) teams. Maybe the question should be...is there a serious lack for of talent at this age, on LI? Why aren’t there more “good” teams??

So your claiming tremendous athletes in 6th grade. I think what your seeing is players that have a bit more training than others at a young age. Yes some kids may be a bit more coordinated or dad has had them working in the backyard or training with a trainer to get ahead but when that thing called puberty kicks in you really start to see who the athletes are. The kid who was a stud because he had some better field sense and skills because he started at a younger age will start to get caught up to by players in 8th maybe 9th grade because of puberty. That kid who once was bigger and faster is no longer. Seen it a ton, been coaching for over 25 years at many different levels. The kids that were better players at a young age and anointed the best players get passed by. This is not to say that the players who were good at a young age dont continue to get better and also benefit from puberty but the disparity isnt as great.

The younger teams who are well coached and have a strong core are the ones that do well. Eventually you will see the coaches make player changes because at tryout the kid that had decent stick skills but was on the small side the year before all of the sudden grew a few inches and out on some size and also committed to practicing a bit more in 7th or 8th grade.

How’s it going so far? Status quoe still right? No changes at the top. But the sky is still about to fall on WP and Taz (you hope). [ChillLaxin] hum.

Are you really saying that the boys on the A or b teams cant catch and throw???You are clueless. go watch a game and try and take your eyes off your little Rabil for 1second you will see some quality players.Even if they are not on your sons team.

It all depends upon our frame of reference. In your case, you see that your little Johnny can finally catch a lacrosse ball. Compared to your frame of reference, I’m sure he appears to be a quality player. Compared to my frame of reference, he should try baseball. Understand?

Serious question: can anyone on Long Island give Madlax 2024 even a competitive game?

After wasting my time skimming thru all these posts I have some valuable information to share with parents who do not have kids on wp or taz 1) you will never be able to convince taz or wp parents that kids with equal or greater talent exist at this grade level and DONT play on one of these two teams 2) you can't convince these parents that although their kid may be a stud player up until this age things may change and he may not be a stud player in the yrs to come 3) any attempts to have a rational conversation or express your opinion will be quickly and decisively met with" your just jealous of our boys and their success and your angry because your kid couldn't make the team". You'll even get the one bozo who likes to chime in and brag about all the publicity their team gets. So if you keep this in mind we can minimize the wp and taz banter and have some meaningful lax conversations to look forwards to.

Solid summary of whats up. TAZ specifically has kids that are destined for B teams... Parents will be embarrassed on how they behave but hopefully the kids don't suffer. The daddy ball, favors, and 5'6 Dads that live thru little Johnny need to just go away. And yes you can wear all your Man Heel shoes you want your still 5'6.

As a parent on one of these teams, I think anyone would agree that there are players out there worthy of being on one of these teams. I would sure hope so. As I have previously posted, if you think that your son is one of those few, bring him to a tryout and find out. These teams are about getting better. If there is a player available that can help them achieve that, they will be offered a roster spot. Talk is cheap. Next August bring your son to tryout, and he will get an objective review, and possibly an opportunity to grow in this sport, second to none. And stop the BS about how you and your son like to be on bad teams. If he is truly a top player, you’re wasting your time, his time and your money.

Well said: You are wasting your time trying to rationalize with these parents. Like taliking to a liberal. A lot of parents are blind to the truth: there are 4 teams that your kid could tryout for WP; TAZ, express, igloo : on the top A level. Make your choice bring your kid down to those tryouts . Those teams play the top teams of the age group, here and out of state: FACT . If you are not playing at the A Level for those teams your kid is B player . . Just a fact. Just saying those are the teams your kid should be striving for. If what you are saying is true, that your child is an A player and plays on a B team because you have some personal beef with these teams , you are only hurting him in the end. So think carefully . Only talking about Long Island teams.

Kid is an 11 year old in 6th grade. The attackman is great too
Stop hating on kids just because they own your kids.
