What team does your son play for or how much does your son play. He starts for a team in the elite division. As do 7 other on age kids. Just because they are older doesn’t mean they are all better. There are holdbacks that don’t start just like there are on age kids that do.

Dont be fooled. EVERGREEN 2022 are CAVS and 3d 2022 and 2021 (except on paper). CAVS and 3d are both lower entry level clubs that as you can tell enter feel good touneys to claim a "win". Their FOGO looked familar from when we played CAVS. A parent was all too eager told me he was mastermind behind this CAVS/3d/Evergreen team looking to dismantle CAVS from the inside by pulling hid son and other CAVS players to Evergreen.
Its a shame....looks like Evergreen has a nice facility....immature program looking for shortcuts to sucess. stay far away...
Looks like Evergreen will attempt HOCO in the spring. Remember Virginia and the South lost the war for the same reason they sux at lacrosse....they....are.....slooooow.....

Is there holdbacks not starting?? of course. There is only so many starting positions and too many holdbacks. And non starting holdbacks are still on the team. Most starters that are on age are some of the oldest on age players. The on age players getting screwed are born between Feb to Aug. Not only do they not start, they dont even make team due to holdbacks, Just the way Youth sports was to be played, letting select players get an advantage over others, Exactly how I was taught!

A: The FOGO did not come from CAV's B: If you were on the sideline of a game talking to an Evergreen parent and are in the Mid-Atlantic area, I assume your son's team lost to Evergreen (they only lost to out of state and Canadian teams) C: Your team also plays in "C" level tournaments. D: It would not take a "mastermind" to get kids to move from one "b/c" level program to join another. The move was a bigger hit to 3d. they did loose the 2022 team. E: The most talented of all three went to or will go to Blackwolf. Evergreen will make some noise in HOCO if they play in the AA not Elite.

More mature than the holdbacks. In fact not one holdbacks is the biggest or even fastest on team. Holdback does not mean a clear advantage over on age kids. Plenty of on age kids that are good enough and have advantage over others due to maturing a bit quicker. Very common for boys this age. Most boys that are being holdback its because they are not mature enough and need another year to catch up. Of course there are holdbacks that are just taking advantage to can an advantage but it is certainly not the case for ALL holdbacks.

That is why holdbacks have an advantage. They start their puberty earlier than younger players on 7th/8th grade teams. . Lets just say that your team is the one exception to everything we hear and see and has all the small holdbacks and all the big on age players. LOL.. Did you see Baltimore Command UA team last year. It was so obvious to all that holdbacks ruled the team that even the guru of recruiting Ty Xanders remarked that they needed to do something about it. And you want to tell us that it makes no clear advantage. Many Clubs and MIAA schools promote holding your child back. You holdback apologists are Absurd along with being Hilarious .

Bitterness has you by the balls. Baltimore Command UA - I thought we were talking about 2022's. Everyone agrees that something has to be done about it dumb [lacrosse]. I guess your kid doesn't play football or basketball with kids his own exact same age who are a full year more mature than he is. Go find another club , school , league for your son to play in because clearly if you don't hold him back he will never play at this level. . Don't sign up for something then cry the blues. NO APOLOGIST here either. The rules suck and so do parents that continue to sign up little johnny in a league or team then cry about it afterwards. Plenty of great teams out there with out holdbacks. You clearly have grudge and do not know how every team is made up.

Sorry, but both clubs are already irrelevant and will remain that way whether at 2022, 2023, or any other year. They will never get the talent of any legit clubs.

We scrimmaged at Evergreen my son plays for the Hawks. Team Maryland needed a few extra players. Cavs Evergreen and the rest of NVa are good teams for players learning to run and cradle at the same time.....or as practice squads for the local baseball team.

Every team in the Elite division has holdbacks. If you are going to callout teams you might want to call them all out . Right or wrong the playing field is fair . Every team has them. Every team choose to play in the Elite division and every parent agrees to let their kid play on these teams. Right or wrong its the nature of the beast. Amazing world where a select group of children are allowed to dominate a sport. Just like Youth sports was meant to be played, dont you think? My 8th grade son has played football since he was in kindergarten, wrestles and plays lacrosse for rec and club. I don't remember a year in ANY sport where he didn't play against kids that were potentially a year older than him? In football they are called "OBLs". In wrestling as a 6th grader he faced kids with chest hair that were just super light. In rec lacrosse they typically had 2 years combined at several levels. I just don't see the big deal about a 1 year older hold-back, considering that next year as a freshman in High School, he might be on the same team with Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors? However, if your kid is one of the top players in his position as a 7th grader and now he gets bumped down a few notches because new, older players enter his age group, it does kind of put a damper on your parental bragging rights. I will just tell my 8th grader to go figure out how to kick the 9th graders [ChillLaxin], but that's just me.

But just using the life is not fair work harder speech does not make the kids who reclass or play down or PG not cheaters. I tell my son life is not fair work harder and do your best to out preform the kids who have parents cheating for them. There have been several articles written about how kids with birthdays that allow them to be the oldest on the team end up playing in the Pros more often. Lacrosse does not have a real Pro option but the facts still apply to lacrosse. And a sport like lacrosse that has a large skill level aspect the year longer of playing the game allows these kids to out preform the younger kids at a large rate. Because what I read on here over and over again is if you are not good enough "Hit the Wall" well if a kid has been hitting the wall for 18 months longer then the other kids he will be by rule a better lacrosse player. And doing simple math he will always have 18 months longer of "hitting the wall" to help his game.

You are full of it and miss the point about letting select kids get an advantage others dont get with exact same birthday. Football is by age. Is there some giant kids yes.. But it goes by age even in the unlimited weights divisions. Wrestling has age restrictions along with only wrestling someone in a narrow weight range as other wrestler. Two year age was the way with former lacrosse leagues. Every other year you got to be on older age group. Not every year You get to be the oldest because you were held back. Youth sports already has many things that give advantage here and there, But to let a select group always get an advantage just because they failed/heldback/reclassed/prefirst a grade goes against Youth sports and its intent. Why not let anyone play down that wants too by one year , that would be better and the same thing that holdbacks get now..lets let everyone do it.... but we know that wouldn't give select kids an advantage?? maybe you dont mind youth sports and lacrosse in general giving special advantages to certain players that others dont get. But the majority think that youth sports isnt for select groups, If you let some get the advantage..all should get it

Schedule for the MMILL games at Soccer Stop in Columbia is up.
Looks like it is Swarm, Rockfish, Wild (x2), SS Warriors, and Sidewinders.
Not quite the same lineup it was a couple years ago.

If you look at D1 rosters there are tons of public school kids who didn't reclass. I personally just don't see it as being a huge advantage. At least not to the point where people are ready to trade blows over the argument. I didn't reclass and had no issues getting recruited from East BF country public school back in the early 90s. We didn't have clubs, recruiting showcases, kids national teams and all the opportunities kids from 8th grade up now have to strut their skills and there were a lot less positions to fill. We went to Hopkins camp and played Hero's in the summer. It was fun.

My son’s elite team has three kids who would miss the on-age cutoff, and two who are playing a year and a grade up. Kind of a wash. Lots of room for kids who are good and on age in between. And yes it all evens out in HS...

While that is very similar how most people who grew up around lacrosse years ago saw the sport, times are changing in a dramatic way. Holdbacks and certain Clubs are dominating now. And most clubs that are dominating are due to older players. Here is from the reclass forum. This is this year and will be the future at most of better lacrosse programs. I also know two other freshman D1 players who shared similar stories about incoming class of players. """""Just for your information... my son is back from school and we are enjoying our thanksgiving vacation together. He plays on a top 20 DI college team and he tells me that out of a class of 17 Freshman, he is the only freshman who is 18 years old (on age for his grade). He is generally a year younger than every other Freshman on the team. Some were held back when they were very young. Some were held back in 8th grade and some took a PG year or decided to wait a year between high school and college because of the availability of scholarship money. To his knowledge no one is getting a full ride. Most are getting 25% scholarships or just $10k or $15k and many will not be receiving them next year. Receipt will depend upon their performance. Know that each family has to 'donate' money to the team and so far this year we have been asked to donate to several charities the team sponsors. While neither I nor my son I wouldn't change anything, there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow here other than the friends he will make and the experiences he will come away with."""" Reclass your child if you want to play at better programs in future.

It was created for these types of discussions. Everyone knows it sucks and until the rules are changed its what everyone has to sign up or not sign up for at this level for this age group in particular. If you sign your kid up to play with holdbacks -which every team has them at the elite level and then come on here to complain ,please take it to the forum set up for you to complain. Until it's fixed I'll talk about it where I want to. Of course you will! Nice come back. Some of us who have on age kids and don't give a [ChillLaxin] about holdbacks have to listen to your crying on this forum and every other one . No sympathy here for someone who signs up knowing the rules and exact situation then whines about it. Its just like every news channel 24/7 filled with people who want life to be perfect and whine till they get their way. Exactly what we don't teach here. Please let everyone know what you are doing abut getting the rules changes except crying on an anonymous forum to people that think your just that 'a cry baby'

[quote=Anonymous]Every team in the Elite division has holdbacks.
