You got that right - LV's roster of 18 boys jumped out to a 7 - 2 lead in the first half and beat Pequa's 40+ roster 9 - 6 this past season. Maybe that was more a testament to LV, but, if not, it was by no means an indication of a "strong" incoming 9th grade team!

So do you think if Massapequa only had 18 players it would have been a closer game?

No - it would have been an even more lopsided loss!

Might as well not even have a league format if A is already spoken for but it wasn't so long ago that Pequa had a 34 game win streak and got humiliated in the County finals. All the pundits who don't know crap and live vicariously through 16 and 17 year old boys. JOKE !

Um, the season has not started yet and Syosset finished third last year soooo, not really accurate. And Port is coming on strong this year so Syosset will probably be 4th, battling Oceanside for that spot.

There is no such thing as third and fourth place, you either win the semi final and go onto the county championship or you lose and go home since both teams that lose the semi final do not play each other their is no way to determine third or fourth place. Last year Syosset and Port lost in the semi finals making them semifinalist and that is all.

Pre-season seeding is based on players returning and not based on last years record so if I was going to seed the top 4 in A's it would be Massapequa 1, Syosset 2, Farmingdale 3 and Port Washington 4. and if this year is anything like the last few years the playoff semi finals will be the winner of the Syosset v Massapequa game will play the loser of the Farmingdale v. Port Washington game unless Farmingdale or Port can step up and beat Syo or Mass in the regular season game. IMHO Farmingdale will have the better shot as pulling that off.

Wantagh and Bethpage will be very tough also. Bethpage only lost 2 starters. Returns all defense and middies and attack

Wrong on LV over CSH. There's 19's are better than CSH's but it won't matter. this year, next or the year after. '21 I'll keep my mouth shut.

I think LV's '20s are also better, so it will make a difference! The '20s and '21s as Srs and Jrs in '20 will be extremely strong.

Except when there are C teams better than A teams - CSH probably was the best team on LI last year!

In terms of LV's 20's being stronger than CSH's you are out of touch with the markets my friend. NOT EVEN CLOSE..

SWR, WM, Manhasset are in the conversation, that's it.

Smithtown if they were one school and Massapequa the next tier.

Do we really have to listen to 8 months about how LV is going to beat CSH etc...... when everyone knows they will lose like they do every year?????

Ohh stop little boy. Don't have a Napolean complex. It's a shame when your school is so small that you can't field a team.

lets take this one at a time

CSH - IMHO the best team on LI last year
Beat - Syosset - South Side
lost -

Lynbrook
Beat - Oceanside - Hewlett - Baldwin
lost to - Farmingdale - Carey - Long Beach - South Side

Locust Valley
Beat - Mac Arthur
Lost to - Port Washington

No Shore
Beat - NHP - MacArthur - Mepham - Baldwin - Port Washington

so outside of CSH - your other three semi-finalist has one signature win vs. A's and B's last year it was No Shore beating PW.

Pequa did pretty good in scrimmage last year, I would love to see a real game this year. CSH would not do it.

LV outplayed PW and should have won that game - LV had a million shots that missed the net (and PW's G was great, but so was LV's). Not sure if that was a testament to LV or a knock on PW, but losing to them in a very close game that LV should of won seems significant based upon how many on BOTC revere them from last season. Beyond all of that, you are very limited in how how many non-Conference games you can schedule.

The day BOTC boards are limited to purely Ws and Ls is the day there is pretty much nothing to post. Those stats can be found by looking at online standings. Until then, about 99% of what is posted is all conjecture, and a lot of would of... you don't like, move on by...

Are you suggesting that HS lacrosse take on some sort of electoral college approach to results - don't count the final score for who wins but rather take an accumulations of various stats ?

well yes, PW did score more goals but LV won the key stat of a million shots that missed the cage (that equals approx. 347 shots missed the cage per second) so BOTC projects LV the winner.

You score more goals you win, this is 'Merica where those with the most goals win and those with the fewest goals post on BOTC about how they lost but were still the better team.

You're obviously not very knowledgeable about sports. If a team escapes with a win in a game that by all other rights they probably should have lost based upon the play, yes, the coach (and anyone else as an observer) acknowledges and accepts the win, but also realizes they didn't play well or were outplayed. You've obviously never coached, nor played at high level. I've done both, and with respect to the latter, I have had my [lacrosse] run into the ground probably the hardest by my college coach after WINNING games where we didn't play well, NOT after losing!

I don't think CSH is ducking pequa in any way shape or form- they've played the same non-conference schedule for years with the exception of the manhasset drop last year replaced by Smithtown West.

South Side, Syosset, Huntington, Manahssset (SW last year for ridiculous reasons) and two away Spring Break games.

they would have to break a long standing relationship/history of playing, spring trip or cross town rival.

I think that is why they scrimmage West Islip and Massapequa most years because they are great teams year in and year out.

As for LV in '14, they had a very good team in 14 and csh got out coached. So sure, conceivably lightening could strike again but I wwouldn't be on here ranting and raving about it like a heretic based on recent and long term history... let the play of the kids do the talking. CSH will take a step back this year, but not a monumental one.

No Shore
Beat - NHP - MacArthur - Mepham - Baldwin - Port Washington

so outside of CSH - your other three semi-finalist has one signature win vs. A's and B's last year it was No Shore beating PW.

Ok....you win the the stupidest reply on BOTC. You cannot really believe what you wrote. I guess Tom Brady and the Pats felt bad after winning against the seahawks (interception at goal line) and the falcons (historic comeback fueled by by terrible falcon coaching). Escape??? Beat up??? win by an little ???? Its about the WIN. And if you are a coach.....yikes !!!!

Well said. A win is a win, and as long as the scoreboard reads in your favor, does it really matter.

Many schools are loaded with quality 2018 players, WM, SYO, CSH, PEQA, Manhasset, etc. This coming season should be interesting, i don't see any team being undefeated at the end of the season, should be a lot of close games.
