I heard that API and MD United are merging. How will this affect the 2021s on both squads. That's a lot of girls.

According to the API website, API will field a 19, 20, and 21 team this year. Next year API will field nothing.

API website said it's API-MDU merging. 2019-21s will stay separated this year but will combine 2018-19 under the MDU banner. Younger teams start combining this year.

To present the image of an equitable merger, the new combined team will need to include a minimum of at least 1/3 of former API girls. Unfortunately for them, it's doubtful it will happen. For whatever reason, be it politics or bad eyes for talent, they let good talent slip through their fingers. They'll probably screw this up too.

Most API girls would have a difficult time making a MD United solidified team. There lies the issue. API lacrosse is not necessarily merging with MD United, it's the API facility that is merging with MD United. There is a need for a few players at the 2024-2026 age group at MD United, however 2019's-2023's are going to be difficult teams to earn a roster spot on as these players/coaches have been playing together for some time. This could all be changed if MD United adds a 3rd team at each age group, but most likely that won't happen. There was a time when over 100+ girls would show up for tryouts for one age group, only to create 2 teams of 22 (44 girls) and send the rest (50-60) scrambling for another club to play with. I can guarantee Integrity is looking for more players, as well as some other start ups, such as Uproar, Naptown, Dark Horse, and heck even Rebels isn't too far away. Good luck to those girls and families who are scrambling. Hoping Finish Line Lacrosse can pick up the pieces of an extremely untimely "sever of ties."

Don't kid yourself. There are at least 5-6 API girls that could/should make MD United if they try out (that's assuming the tryouts are fair).

Then yes, I agree, assuming tryouts are fair of course. Keep in mind, their best players (API) have left to go elsewhere the past few years, hence the need to change ownership and merge.

Interesting comment. Considering that nearly all of the talent at this age is concentrated in central Maryland, being middle of the pack with a lot of room to improve is not a bad place to be. TLC played M&D, SW, Heros and Nems to close games this spring and summer. They will likely pick up a girl or two from the aforementioned teams and improve going into the fall.

Don't listen to the "nay-say-ers."! TLC is getting better at each age group. They have some work to do, major work, but will continue to improve. Everyone else, zip ur lip.! Let them be and let them try to make decisions to improve. It really is about coaching!!!

If that's all you guys have to hang your hats on you're really grasping for straws on a sinking ship.

They are still bitter the 2021 team and club was destroyed by the coaches, owners, and parents. They hide from the better teams traveling to and playing in 3rd tier tournaments and on here throwing bombs. Integrity parent ask yourself why don't we play any top team? Why do we travel so often when the best competition is in your backyard? M&D, Heros' and Skywalkers don't seems to have an issue playing each other, so your clubs excuse of we want to pay different teams really means we want to win a game.

Who's hiding? MDU is playing in NJ and FL this fall rather than the local tournaments with everyone else. The coaches must've finally got tired of getting crushed every weekend.

It is an interesting decision to leave a team where you are on the field much of the game and a major contributor; to join a team that is largely set, where playing time and contribution are unknown. This is almost a "better to trust the devil you know" scenario. Some players (and parents) want to be on what is perceived to be the best team, regardless of the cost. If the decision is based on the belief that you will improve more quickly on the new team vs the old team, I get it, especially now that the recruiting rules have changed. However, these is some risk involved. Improvement is great, but during the summer of '19, you need to be on the field and not on the bench.

Stars ends at 8th. Its a middle school only club. They feed into Capital, which starts in 9th.
Capital 2021 just announced the 40 payers who made their two teams, but not who is on which team, A or B. There is one girl who came form M&D black on the Capital 2021 roster.

Head coach gone is a good thing for heros 21 G. Daughter was a very good player but net positive overall. Spin it however you like. You lost one of your best players to a rival. And he's not coaching there.

did the coach quit? I'm assuming his daughter wanted to play for 2021 Black coach and St Pauls coach.

Does anyone know why Maryland United is traveling to NJ and FL this fall rather than playing in the local tournaments? Most of the top clubs are staying home. Am I missing something?

At this age, no need to do any showcase events til the summer of '19. The tournaments in MD, NJ and LI are so redundant, if you are good, you will have been seen multiple times by then.

Maybe she should spend the time here rebuilding the MD club rather than soaking the parents on additional travel costs.

what has happened to the LI LIberty program? they no longer have 2 teams 2019, 2021 and 2021. can only field one team per grade. all other comparable programs have 2 teams. Have they dropped that much or have parents had enough of the program and its director?

Have they dropped that much or have parents had enough of the program and its director? No, I think they would have had low numbers, like 14 kids on their second 2021 team, so instead of telling parents that they have a team they were up front with parents and were honest. When we were at Elevate, they would tell parents that they have a full team when they really only had like 13 kids and then they would try and pick up kids during the year. They would always practice as an age group to try and hide how many kids were on each team. Then the summer would come and they would borrow kids from other elevate age groups to field a team where numbers were low. Elevate still has teams with very low numbers but DK would never be honest with parents as it would mean turning down some$$$$s. Good for liberty for being up front with the parents.

Has anyone found any of those 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 or whatever tournaments worthwhile? Or are they generally a money maker for the coaches?

Has anyone found any of those 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 or whatever tournaments worthwhile? Or are they generally a money maker for the coaches? Certainly, these are money makers for the college team hosting. the money is used for gear & uniform/clothing and travel expenses, meals etc. but the coaches will be watching the games and taking notes. Its a good chance for you and yours to visit the school in question and get a feel for what playing for that particular coach might be like. usually the current team is there to act as refs or coaches affording an opportunity for your daughter to hear first hand about playing lax at the college level. The coaches don't want to talk to mom and dad, but your daughter should have a few questions ready to go cause if the coach likes what he/she see's they will find a minute or two to introduce themselves to her.

How did UA tryouts end up for Baltimore? Did they keep the best girls or did politics come into play as usual? Expect to see a bunch of Bryn Mawr, Glenelg County and NDP girls based on the coaches.

Calm down, it’s a college showcase. Girls are there to showcase for college coaches. All the girls get even playing time.

Many teams like MD United only showcase their best players with some girls not even seeing the field. They are more worried about winning so it gives the illusion of success.

They may have all played, but the game I saw some girls certainly were on the field quite a bit more than others. With that said, I'm sure MDU wasn't the only team that bent the spirit of the rule a bit. Teams are still out to win even if it's a showcase format.

I am surprised parents would stay at clubs where their kids get very little playing time showcase tourneys. They pay a lot to play. BTW this is a forum for opinions-the have a Blessed day people need to chill.

BTW this is a forum for opinions-the have a Blessed day people need to chill. For reasons I don't understand, some parents feel that college coaches care about the records of these club teams. They come in and watch the kids they are interested in for a few minutes and move on. If your daughter isn't playing, she doesn't get seen. You can believe the "she's getting better by playing on a top team" argument, but its so full of holes it really doesn't hold water.

Well that's why the coaches that do it properly have a timer going on their phone to make sure everyone plays close to equal minutes. I know that's what my daughter's coaches do. It will effect their win/loss record this summer, but that's why they are in showcases. In championship tournaments it's different.

I heard a lot of complaints from that same club previously mentioned at multiple age groups. Also grabbing players from A group to play over B girls on bench. Not a good look.
