Congratulations to all the participants in the 2017 Final Four and National Championship games. Gillette Stadium and the NCAA did a great job making this event spectacular. Hopefully a lesson was learned that the Mens and Womens, D1, D2 and D3 games on Championship weekend need to be held together at the same venue. Lacrosse fans are the most passionate, supportive fans in college sports and the attendance proved just that. Well done Gillette and the City of Boston! Woman's Final 4 is at Stony Brook next year. They are adding seats to LaValle so assume 13,000 capacity or so.

How is going back to LaValle (Long Island) in the best interest of the women's game after playing at Gillete with the men? The men are playing at Gillette again.

Women weren't supposed to be playing there. They were supposed to be down in North Carolina. They were pulled out of state because the 5 transgender people in the state still don't have designated bathrooms yet.

JS says KO is the best player in college lacrosse, because she scored 7 points against Hadnagy. And because she has 164 points against awful teams. So Kenzie Kent score 10 points against her and gets 71 points in 12 games playing against way tougher competition. Think that shows that she is one of the best players in the country. Wait until this kid plays a full year. Stop being a bitter. KO and Kent are both great players. [lacrosse], Kent is even better than Apuzzo but you can't take 164 points away from anyone in D1, especially one on a ranked team. Now go crawl back in your.

So the girls game had 29 goals. The boys had 15. Girls had 71 shots and the boys had 66. Ohio st goes over double digit minutes twice without a shot while Maryland gets called for 8 stall warnings and it's the girls game that is considered boring? Watched both games and the girls game was so much better. Shot clock was a huge plus this season

Refs have way too much influence on the girls game, at times it seems like there's literally a whistle every 10-15 seconds. For the casual fan who thought they were in for a good women's lax game featuring the two best teams in the country they had to be very disappointed at what they saw.

All six divisions should be at the same location. LaValle too small for mens draw. Could use Gillette, Lincoln Field in Philly, M & T in Baltimore, Bank of America in Charlotte, etc for all lacrosse divisions. It would great for the sport.

Most knowledgeable lacrosse people will agree the men's game has gotten far too slow with basically one one one...next....one on one....next etc.
The speed of the game is gone. If you are new to the game or disagree then go on YouTube and watch past finals from 1984 or 1985. Those games were fast and exciting and drew record crowds. With that said the women's games are more exciting these days than the men's game if you know the rules. I would guess that those commenting on their dislike of the women's game don't know the rules or are limited in the history and knowledge of the womens game. They also play with no pockets in their sticks making their play all the more impressive.
Either way it seems the 90 second possession shot clock that is new this year for the women is coming soon to the men. It is needed no doubt.

It is needed no doubt. the rules and or interpretation of them and more importantly the exploitation of them are what ruins the womens game - SB 59 fouls in a 60 min game? that wasn't by accident, it was by design! Women should adopt mens rules - only middies involved in the initial draw, nobody else over the restraining line until after possession and let the refs call for 30 second shot clock when needed, the men at least have a chance of getting the ball back when on defense, for the womens it is almost impossible

You obviously don;t know that there is a shot clock now in the women's game. It has been fantastic. Agree that holding at restraining line until possession would be a good change. High school and youth implemented it this year. It will come to college hopefully soon. The quick restarts are improving flow in the midfield. Need to change 3-second call back to an 8-meter so there is a real consequence to packing in the 8-meter. SB does exploit the rule and it is not a good style to watch. Didn't understand that change in the first place.

Starting a team. you get one player to pick, KO or Kent. I choose Kent every day and twice on Sundays. That is NOT a knock on KO. Great attacker. KO is one of the best players in the game. My opinion, Kent is THE best player in the game. And she does more for her team than just score and assist. She is great on the circle and is relentless on the ride. And what is so ridiculously remarkable about her is she steps out of the highest level of women's hockey into the midst of a season of the highest level women's lacrosse and dominates girls who have been playing all year. She put up one of the two greatest finals performances in the history of the women's game while being guarded by a Tewaaraton finalist defender and also made plays all over the midfield. We are talking about to of the very elite. There are arguments to be made on both sides. I come down on Kent's.

My sister played in the wooden stick area with natural boundaries so you can lose the air of superiority on the womens game and it's rules- I have been watching for 35 years... The pocket in their sticks has grown immensely since then and that has helped. But the passing with the now-limited pockets is still far far below that in the men's. The guys draw far bigger crowds- and it's just because their game showcases passing and great shooting, in short better skills. By the way- see any Mikey Powell's or Gary Gaits they should be showcasing better?? No, not at the moment since the Thompson brothers graduated. The endless fouling, scrums around a ground ball in the women's game make it hard to enjoy. It's by far the majority opinion in these forums, so lose the huge attitude and work for change, the game is good but should be so much better.

take away the points late in the second half against teams that they are killing and the numbers are on par with the other great Div I players...the schedule and stat padding played a role in those great numbers.

First of all tough guy/girl. It's not an attitude it's an opinion. Your response clearly shows your combative attitude and since you said you've been watching for 35 years we can assume your not a child although your offense to an opinion leans that way. Your entitled to your opinion but drop the personal attack. You'll lose.

Finalists will be the best five players chosen without regard to institution. Finalists will be selected based on individual performance and a player’s contribution to the success of their team. Finalists are chosen based on the current year’s regular-season performance (date of selection is at the conclusion of the regular season, before playoffs). Recipients are chosen based on the current year’s regular season and playoff performance. Sportsmanship can play a role in the selection process and it is important that the recipient upholds the mission and values of the Tewaaraton Award.
This is from the Tewaaraton website. I think all finalists are good on the first three points. The Maryland girls get the edge on point four (obviously) and it hurts Ohmiller. I think the fifth point hurts Ohmiller as well. She has allowed the media to portray her as playing with a chip on her shoulder and her post game remarks after the Maryland game didn't help her. Ohmiller had a fantastic year and is really the 1-3 pick but I think it goes to Hadnagy. But I've wrong 50% of the time in the past.......ha ha.

Its lacrosse so there still will be politics. Maryland coaches are better liked than SB and to Baldbears post if they went defense that would be great and a real slap at some who love padding those stats!

I'm rooting for KO.. she lifted her team all season to an eventual #4 ranking and a real chance at upsetting Md. in the NCAA's. setting records along the way.. could her "flashy" style hurt her as a sign of bad sportsmanship.. maybe
Hadnagy gave up 7 points to TO and 10 to Kent, Stukenberg was absent from the finals - face guarded out of it Hompe did not shine as bright on the big stage as she may have needed too Mccool let her team lose to an unranked Navy team.. the best player in the sport doesnt let that happen

KO played big in big games but there were only a few of them and the SB antics and poor sportsmanship is not lost on anyone and something don't think the sport wants to glorify like ESPN does. Undefeated is so hard to top.

I think Stukenberg gets it and deserves it. The fact that she was face guarded in the finals tells you what BC thought of her on the offensive end of the field. KO great season but has had some issues in the past that may have an impact ie the Hopkins game .

If you look at the history of the award no matter what the website says it almost always goes to the National Championship team and the committee prefers two way players. Agree KO may be the most deserving but Stukenberg will win. They never give it to defenders and Hadnagy was lit up by Kent in the finals with a record setting performance - most of which was 1 on 1. BTW Stukenberg will also graduate with a perfect 4.0 gpa while taking pre-med courses.

No issues at all http://www.insidelacrosse.com/artic...ut-much-more-than-breaking-records/49594That's great but talking about an issue not this year . Let's say she was being faceguarded and got frustrated and did something very unsportsmanlike , incident was caught on film and Hopkins coaches did not take it lightly. Those things have a tendency to follow a player .

4.0 Biology National Champs Undefeated 3x national champion SENIOR Better liked coach The MD lady wins it over KO and SB Although the crazy stats are going to be hard to overlook. Lets see if politics play a role in the selection All great points for a team award, but it's an individual award and she broke 2 major records with points and assists. Think Lyle Thompson's season when he won. Also, If you pick against her because her coach is pompas you shouldn't have a vote. Maryland no doubt the #1 team in the nation and I believe their fans and coaches believe SB is #2. Like you said hard to overlook the stats but if you want to help grow the game it should be KO in a landslide.

Not only do the the fans and coaches believe SB is #2 in the nation, the national polls have them ranked as #2 ending the year. You don't see that often where a team in the final four displaces a team that played in the finals, but well deserved. And KO will win it, not often do they like to step outside of the team that won the national championship to pick a player, often because many great statistical seasons went to players on non contending teams, but SB was right there, and KO was the main reason.

Who are you picking to start a team? You get 1. Stukenberg Hadnagy McCool KO Hompe Kent (full season) For me it's either Stukenberg or Kent. And I lean Kent.

KO....just look what she did for SB. Without her they are a middle of the road team. MD might still have went 22-0 without Stukenberg
Kent is getting a little too much pub here base on a sick champ game. She's not even the best player on her team.

KO put up big numbers but so did Murphy and it just shows you there level of competition and his system equals the leading scorer in the NCAA. When KO leaves it will be TO and on and on. If you think scoring the most points not factoring in level of competition , coaching style , etc makes you the best so be it . Who of those would I take , McCool , I think she is the best all around . She is probably the best defensively on the list ( watch some of her games I don't think I have seen her ever get beat ), she is very good on the circle and in the circle , has the ability to put up big numbers in offense but plays on a team that had plenty of other shooters and in a system that plays multiple middy lines . Yes her team lost to Navy but it's a team game and SB got spanked by Florida so if that's your argument it has to go to Maryland .

If you think Apuzzo (a great player btw) is better than Kent, you are out to lunch. That is not based on a sick NC game. It is based on years of watching Kent. That was not an isolated game for Kent. That is how she plays all the time.
