Suffolk needs to do a better job at scheduling.

I have seen Longwood and Brentwood getting better as the seasons go by but why subject them to the top tier schools. Listen I'm not an everyone gets trophies guy, but what is gained by some of these matchups. Look at Middle Country, teams are putting in the players on varsity that should be lighting it up on JV. Copaigue love they have a team but something has got to be done to make game competitive for all teams involved.

Take the last 4 teams in each division or conference play each other in their own league. If the coach preseason or whenever divisions are discussed thinks he has a contending team, then put them in the league they belong.

Take Connetquot, why is Connetquot playing Copaigue brentwood Londwood Flyod. maybe 2 of those not a 4. and why Copaigue and not Pat Med.

Does someone in Section IX look at each school schedule and say this is fair and conveys sportsmanship.

As someone pointed out earlier with respect to the MC game, there are multiple rules from NYS on down that need to be followed with regards to scheduling - that is a major effort that would have to start at the state level and then be worked out at the section levels thereafter. Bottom line is that it is not at Suffolk's (Section 11) discretion.

I am calling Bull $hit on this, as posted earlier which sparked the comment of NYS rules, look at the Westchester, Capital Region or Upper Tier teams teams, still in NYS. I didnt comment then, but how it is a NYS rule when they can do it. It is clearly the LI sections not NYS. Your coach lied to you if you were told that and your AD has no back bone

Would Lakeland and Panas be C schools if they had their own teams at each school?
Would Newfield or Centereach be A school if each team had their own team for each school?

Comparing NYS Sections that are more rural than 8 or 11 does not take into account that there MAY be NYSPHSAA scheduling allowances/exceptions for more diverse play in those Sections, allowances not provided to urban and/or suburban sections, such as 8 and 11. As an extreme example, even between Section 8 and 11, CSH was put into Section 8 despite truly being a Section 11 locale just because they were geographically closer to comparable sized schools in order to make travel reasonable. I don't have access to the rules, that govern the schedules, but unless you have empirical knowledge that is contrary, your apples to oranges comparisons do not disprove the stated general basis for the schedules that exist today. You might make the argue that Section 1 (or 2, but having attended college in the Albany area, I can tell you that is not the case!) is not more rural than Section 11, but the only opinion that matters in that sense is how NYSPHSAA considers Section I in that regard (or how it considered both sections when it set up and/or amended the current rules). If someone with explicit knowledge of these details wants to offer up info supporting one side or the other, it would answer the question as opposed to supposition. But, at this point, it seems the NYSPHSAA rule shave been mentioned more often than not, and when considered against an argument supported by anecdotal observation, the latter seems more based on supposition than the former.

Yeah what he/she said.

if location was the driving factor 1/4 of Suffolk (Western Suffolk) would be in Sect 8. I had seen the rules 2 years ago but forgot the verbiage

If a rule exists then it needs to be examined. CSH could have remained in Sect 11 and played more Sect 11 schools. Any bi-county school district could play both and cross polinate the classes.

What good is a game like Riverhead going to Copaigue or Ward Melville vs Lindenhurst or West islip vs Middle country. Why would Copaigue or Lindy want those games? Why would West Islip not want to play Massapequa or Syosset instead of Middle Country.

Massapequa and Farmingdale being the big A schools which are a stones throw to w suffolk. What about Syosset and Commack and Northport. All close enough to each other...

I am not an historian but CSH has been playing a Nassau schedule forever. and for all the points being made in all the above posts, they made power conferences for girls HS in Section 8 so it is possible, it just takes work and it also means it is not against NYS rules

No one said it was impossible nor without effort to enact changes. On the girls side, do we know that NYSPHSAA did not make a rule or rule exception to allow for power conferences? And, yes, CSH has been in Section 8 since I think the 50s per some posts a while back - not sure what the deal was with them before that. But they didn't just do it of their own volition.

A few years ago, Section 1 mandated that each team play a home and away game against each divisional opponent, thereby limiting the number of out-of-section games to only a few. That lasted 1 year, as the stronger schools (Yorktown, Bronxville, etc) thought it made them less competitive come playoff time. Now they play several out-of-section teams (this year Yorktown plays Darien, Wilton, Ridgefield, St. Anthony, Chaminade, Bridgewater-Raritan and Jamesville DeWitt).

Is that result supposed to impress someone? We can all get the score from the newspaper - no need to post it on BOTC.

What is a 'reproduction organ' is that like some kind of an old church organ that was reproduced? Oh, you mean 'reproductive organ'? You should have studied harder in school, get it right next time. Perhaps you went to trade school and learned how to use TOOLS!

Well, at least we know that your are definitely from Pequa.
