What's your opinion on True Blue saw TB goalie in action this week at the hub (or I'm assuming he is their goalie - was playing for massapequa team but had TB helmet). whether the team is talented or not, he'll keep them in a lot of games. The 4th grade goalie for Massapequa is a great goalie. No, not his dad, just seen him in action and he's a very talented player.

The team is primarily made up of Massapequa kids. Which in my opinion is a positive not a negative. As a matter of fact last season was their first together and they had lot less Massapequa kids. As a matter of fact The team has improved and has a lot more Massapequa kids than last year. Btw, this Massapequa group has won 7-8 tourneys they have entered in the last year. And not one them specializes in just lax. They are all mulitisport athletes.
I guarantee they will win plenty this year. As far JC goes, he's actually a gentleman. He is a little intense at times but the kids love him. And he is not just about lax winning. He wants the kids to learn the game and improve their skills. He also wants them to keep up on school and other sports. He actually made the kids right a paper on a book they read and hand it into him.. that's the kind of person I want teaching my kids.
I'm all for town pride, but in the travel lax world no one town can have enough depth to compete against other purely travel clubs. I can't imagine this TB team has won 7-8 tournaments if last year was their first year together. They DID NOT win 7-8 tournaments last year, my kids were on 2 of their teams. they did well but not that well. Also, the competition they faced was not that high of a caliber. Did he have them write a paper? yeah big deal. Many other programs stress academics much more than TB. I will not take personal shots at JC, only comment as him as a coach. I sat a watched his practices and his coaching skills (WHEN he was present for the game since he "coached" more than 1 team last year) they are mediocre at best. As far as the kids loving him, I know a great many that do not. You can have your JC, there's many other coaches that are much better and can help prepare the kids for life on and off the field. Agreed. Mediocre, just like the entire grade level.

Haven't seen True Blue at any tournaments against Blast or Geese!! I guess they aren't ready for that type of competition yet.

Not sure why there's so many negative comments on these forums. No one from TB is bashing any programs. They all have their positives and their negatives. Sounds like these parents need to stop living vicariously through their 4th grade kids and allow their them to play more than just lacrosse 12 months out of the year.
No needs to bash programs or goalies (innocent kids) or say you don't play the best teams. Who deems these teams to be the so called best. The parents..
Fact of the matter is all of these so called top programs added kids from pequa this year that are middle of the road kids. Hopefully it works out for them and their programs.
The fact that the talent is spread across multiple organizations in this age group is great and makes for great games and tournaments. It's not fun for anyone when 1 team has all the top kids on the island and blows everyone out. The competition is what makes all these kids better.. you get better losing a game 6-5 rather than winning a game 12-1.
Keep saving your pennies so when your 1 sport specialist kids don't get that 1/4 scholarship your praying for..
Godspeed

It's good for kids to have aspirations, but the dream you have these kids dreaming will be a nightmare. Geese, Blast, even Express would be too much for the TB boys to handle. Better stay in the B bracket with the Town travel teams like they did last year.

Godspeed No need to bash....but then you proceed to call kids middle of the road that joined top clubs? So if the top clubs have the middle of the road kids and TB has the best kids (and can't win), what does that say about Massapequa for this age? Oh right, they won 7 or 8 tournaments...right

For the record I consider my own son mid tier and lucky to be part of a great group of kids that live to compete.

To sum it up Massapequa has the best lacrosse players ( & they're the only multi sport athletes ) the parents are the best , it's the best school district on the island and all of the boys are playing for the best coach & program in TB and JC. Everyone else's kids suck and will never amount to anything. Did I leave anything out ???
Stay classy pequa

Actually I'm from pequa and I believe Manhasset has the best town/travel team on the island in the 4th grade so do what your want with that.
And from what I see whoever is responding from pequa has kept it classy. He hasn't bashed a single person or organization.
Good job keeping it classy.

Its not bashing the goalie, its bashing the shooters. You can't see how good a goalie is until they face shooters who pick their targets, throw fakes and move the ball when they don't have a good shot or angle. Poor shooters can make a garbage can look like a good goalie. Get it now?

Here is a little lesson for all you 4th grade newcomers. Every kid is mid tier right now. Yes, some kids may be advanced right now due to any number of factors (more athletic, older brothers played so their skills are stronger, entered club scene with better coaching, etc). But guess what, those kids that are so advanced right now will be caught up to. Guaranteed!! I'd be willing to bet in any school district, if we look into the crystal ball, there is a good chance that the Varsity captain in 2024/2025 hasn't played any organized lacrosse yet. Also a pretty good chance that the best kid on the field right now will not play lacrosse passed 7th grade. Since many of these kids are talented multi-sport athletes, he may choose to focus to play baseball, run track, swim competitively, etc. Or may be burnt out and decide not to play. This is 4th grade. These kids are just beginning to learn the game. Encourage it. Grow the game. Stop with the nonsense of what town is better, what club is better, what kid is better. Just watch -- some of the kids that struggle and may not be all that good right now have just as good a shot at playing lacrosse at a high level over the next 5 years+ Now, go ahead and bash me...it will probably be the highlight of your day

Now its just lax, lax, lax until 7th grade when they all quit or are replaced by freak athletes from Massapequa. It's okay though because by then they'll have won the WSYL and our work as parents is complete. They all pass and catch in 4th grade travel. They also feed, dodge and fake. At least the good teams do.

4 grade LAX IS Exactly that.... so quit telling me about the future and live in the NOW. Your probably right about what the landscape of LAX will be in High school but competitive 4th grade lax could care less about your wait and see approach. Then the next gripe is Holdbacks... THen its the kid that comes from Jersey to play on an Long ISland team.. Its always something... Measure up play hard and compete. Nothing is set in stone but don't deny reality.
