Can you imagine this.... In a very talented age division as the one we speak of, meeting up once per week, or maybe monthly, with another club from the area at a local field? Kids play some live play, coaches can stop to instruct, $4 or $5 per kid for pizza, parents not permitted (because they CLAIM that they are "all about the kids", but ruin most situations). If the developement is key, who cares if the Turtles win most? They probably would, at first. I'd "high-five" 'em. Problem here is the EGO! Nahhh- forget that! Let's go to Maryland to slaughter some Massachusettes kids. That's probably better for the sport. True Blue and Gladiators did just that last spring. Lax and some pizza. Played later in summer at Tri-lax (TB won) but there was, IMHO, a mutual respect between players and parents.

As stated earlier 91 Orange with big changes, at least 6 new faces this coming season. Not a lot loyalty here at least 5 players dropped to the White "B" squad. Same thing as last year

Sounds as if you're "anti 91", best stick to your own threads.

This should be a fun year.
Express Outlaws 91 True Blue Gladiators
This will be the main 5 on the island I believe, Express might have dropped off with losing a few piranha kids. Outlaws are rumored to have added 6 new kids, all very good. 91 also seems like they might be the team to beat and they added a lot.
Have not heard a lot about the last 2, but they were very good last year and deserve to be in the talk as well, as long as they did not lose a lot.
What do you all think?

Does anyone know if there are any winter or spring leagues for this age group? We can't make the summer league commitment just yet but my son would like to play more and get better. Or are there any fall clinics or leagues that are not filled up yet?

Or are there any fall clinics or leagues that are not filled up yet? If you look on the right side of your display, you will see BOTC's Winter 2013 Events content island. There, three programs are offering Winter Leagues from which you can choose. Contact any one of these programs to inquire about registering a team or offering to have single pick-up players connected with a team that might be short.

What do you all think? I would think you would have to add the Jesters to that mix. Got a bunch of the Pianha kids and some talent from last years Jesters team. They should be competitive.

What do you all think? You don't know about the last 2 and you are going to rate 5 teams? I am not taking you to Vegas. Give it a little time and see where players end up. You mention the Piranhas kids, do you know where they are? Do some more research You are close, but there are more players in this game.

One or two went with 91. I believe there are 4 former Piranhas on Express Orange and the rest on Express blue which is being called the Piranhas, Don't sleep on FlLG either, they improved as well. The competition will be intense, outside the Turtles I think everyone else should be pretty competitive, Good luck to all in the fall seasons and their new teams.

I was suggesting the improbable; a weekly or bi-weekly set up involving 4 or 5 teams that would break through the stigma of ONE simple "loss", by one team or another. Just sharing a positive concept.

Heard it was around 80 kids. They supposedly are looking for only 2 or 3 kids and might be creating a 2nd team

They already stated that there will be 2 teams for this age group. It was closer to 100 kids there yesterday for 8th grade. The "A" team will have more than 2 or 3 new players.

. few questions... what town's are these top 5 8 th grade travel teams kids from ? is the express teams made up of kids who will be future ST.A or flyer students/ players ?? has the outlaws and team 91 keep their core players together over the last few years?
so, has true blue and gladiators keep majority of players from 2 towns? or has it changed its direction..

Answers:
The "top 5 teams" have kids from all over LI
Alot of ppl feel that if you plan to go to Catholic HS, Express is the way to go
Outlaws & 91 both had open tryouts, from what is written on here, there were a lot of changes
TB was not from 2 specific towns & Gladiators has answered your question in the post below (or above)
Just one persons opinion. Hope this helps.

When you base your opinion upon what is "written on here", that speaks volumes. It may disappoint you to hear that you did not just "wow" folks, by setting any records straight.

At this age group who are the stronger goalies? The two Turtles goalies are amazing, but so are most of their players. Suggestions? Goalies who are excellent at a young age are rare. They must, however, be able to move also. The margin narrows regarding this, as so many kids come into their own. A goalie who cannot run, will be passed by as the feild gets more competetive.

If two athletes are of equal ball-stopping ability, the "natural all-around" player will take the ride.
