Actually the YJ tourney was fun no drama

Thorn sucked when she coached the 2021 team too. Her and Skakandi need to be let go out of the program. Two hogh school coaches who cannot develop young talent.

TG is worse at this age, look elsewhere.

TG beat YJ blue in this age group already. YJ had to bring down girls that weren't on the team to beat igloo. YJ was once the end all not anymore.

Which 2023 team won/ had best record at Hoftstra yesterday? How do Igloo, Leg, and 89+2 compare at this age? Wondering where my daughter should try out.

Depends on how competitive a team you want for your daughter and if you are willing to travel for practice and off the island for tournaments. Every club has positive and negative

Looking for the best LI has to offer, to be competitive with the best Maryland teams. I am not all that impressed with either YJ team, although there are some outstanding players on both, just not enough on either, and not a fan of parent coaches. But I don't think any LI team has beaten YJ? So it may be the best option. Are girls aloud to play up?

Once again, not unheard of. Happened when Curcio and Jones teams were at same age. Guess what, girls moved up and girls moved down. Never been close since. So I'd be prepared for some changes.

FYI: Wright beat Thorn last year as well. Could it be coaching? Wright girls get better while Thorn girls don't! That's a problem!

Had essentially nothing to do w girls moving at the 2020 age as they played a week later in a full game and was a blowout. That said kids will be moved up and others moved down .

Why are you such a [lacrosse] , did they play at the Babylon lax blast ? Was that shortly after they played at national draw ? Was it a blow out win for Curcio ?

On YJ now, and play plenty, just wonder what else is out there and how the coaching compares

TG won almost everything this summer. Doubt YJ could take them. Too bad we couldn't find out. YJ afraid to play them. Would be a fun game to watch

Jones was also the 1st year yj. Jones won 4-3 and no other game was close. This is 2 years in a row wright beats Thorn not good for yj big changes on the way.

I wish "big changes" would happen. The tough part is implementation. Clearly the better coach should have the better team. Unfortunately there are politics and huge egos involved. BT and SG clearly can't develop young players. CR says winning is everything. We'll see.

Yes winning is everything because its good for CR*** see national championship scores against some teams that were playing with the net flipped over and a garbage can in goal. Always good sports we are.

When it mattered this summer many of our coaches were overmatched. Talent is more balanced and these coaches cant just empty the ball bag anymore and let the athletes carry the day. Girls need COACHING, we pay for good coaching not college kids

Coach Wright develops her players and empowers them. They all feel like part of the win because she not only develops lacrosse skills, but self-esteem and confidence on the field with her gentle way. She is not soft however, she just has a different way of bringing the best out in her girls. Without a doubt she should be the "A" team coach! Any family who has played for her will only say what a great experience it was.

Cleary the better coach is Wright, not Thorn. This just proves that last years win wasn't a fluke. YJ should reevaluate who they have coaching their A team.

Now on the flip side they saved you a bunch of money and now you know where you are in the pecking order. You also won't be moving up to the top team anytime soon. The line has been drawn in the sand. If your kid was picked they are seen as the upper half. If not .....

I have been shocked with girls at different ages how poorly coached the LI teams are in general. Yelling go to goal is not coaching. While the girls seem to be extremely talented, it doesn't appear that there is a lot of development and that the girls that are being told to go to goal in 5th grade are still doing it in 8th and 9th grade. There is very little team play and very little communication on defense.

Before you knock the coaches take a look at the players on Thorns team. She can only do so much with that group of players she needs to add talent.
