We had the option in prek to have hom repeat when he went to his new school, and we did that. Trust me, not for lacrosse possibilities.

For sports he should play with kids his own age. Size doesn't matter for academics but it DOES matter for sports. September is definitely fair! That allows kids a 3 month grace period who are held back. That's more than fair.

First year playing - he is doing it with his three of his best friends from his grade, two of whom are only 3 months younger. Just figuring it all out. Unlike some people, I did not start travel in pre-k! And unlike what some people think, not all "holdbacks" are done for athletic reasons. All good! Next year will be trying out for the grade up.

Any thoughts here? Really? Assume we will all learn whats up around August tryouts....will teams advertise 2024 tryouts, or dated tryouts? Other forums seem to think 2024 tryout.

I'm not surprised by that. US Lacrosse doesn't have the muscle to mandate clubs (or even PAL) to adjust their age brackets. US Lacrosse is trying to do the right thing, but from my understanding US Lacrosse recommendations are still across 2 years (ie, U12 & U14, not U13). This won't stop "holdbacks" but it will eliminate a 2002 bday playing on a 2022 team (or U12 team). Someone correct me if I'm off base... Thanks
