The LI Outlaws would like to welcome Head Coaches Bobby Moltisanti Jr. (Smithtown West) and Jay Lambert (Smithtown East) to the LI Outlaws Staff and Board of Directors.

They will both coach teams and help with player development through positional clinics, training and K-2 clinic coming Summer 2016!

Interesting that both Smithtown coaches are doing Outlaws 2020 age group. If your from Melville, West Islip or Northport you might have a hard time getting on that squad.

Just kidding I'm sure the coaches are stand up guys.

Pat Brennan coaching three teams is an awesome feat as well.

Love the name changes from Black and Silver to Select and Black. But as they say, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, you can call it a swan but it is still a duck. Best of luck to those kids on the Silver, oops I mean Black, teams this year!

If your son was on the Black team, they would be better than select for sure. Maybe next year.

They say the select teams are AA. Really ? Then why do they duck the competition and play B tournaments and enter in B brackets ?

This is definitely not true. Select play in competitive tourn. Against high level competition. With that said, if your kid doesn't make select, run for the hills. Like most clubs, the B team experience is inferior to the A team and no matter what the director says or who he brings in it won't change. It's the nature of the beast. Club A teams are worth the $, but if your on B your just padding pockets.

Come on entering in good tournaments and barley winning a game is not a good thing.

They're definitely not AA. That's a silly new designation, to lift all the teams up, so nobody has to play on C!

Thats idiotic. One of the Outlaws B teams is coached by a Varsity coach with two state Championships and numerous County championships. They practice all year long. You just dont know what your talking about

This reply is to the upper portion of this post. He was supposed to be the coach of black but was moved to silver. Black would have been better off with him as a coach. He's a real coach. As for Black 2018 there were more practices cancelled than actually had during the season this past summer. Why do you think so many players from last years team have decided not to even tryout. Because the coaching was so good on Black. Lol

Yea last year the Silver barely won a game all season long! I would never subject my kid to that! The B team on Outlaws is a money grab!

Everyone bashing outlaws for doing what 91 and express do to market their teams??
Last year 91 Heat AA, Amabush A, Stampede B. Really?? Same can be said for those teams as a money grab with the exception of Heat, they are truly AA and a very good team.

Not true. Legacy 2019 B team has college head coach who won a national championship and multiple coach of the year awards.

Actually they typically won 2 games for every one they lost. If getting superb coaching and literally 10 times the amount of practices promised and all the kids learning a tremendous amount and all getting better is a rip off, so be it. I will leave you with this. Not every town is a Smithtown, WM or Garden City. There are numerous varsity coaches out there super thankful for solid B teams that help make kids who better who while not being the stars on their HS teams will get playing time, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. By the way, that SIlver team beat the Jesters A team. SO you have Igloo, 91, WOlverines, Outlaws Black, TLI Icon, Legact and a few others I missed . Other then teh 200 odd kids that make up those teams, do the other thousand kids who love lax get to play ? Not everybody is out there trying to get a college free ride, but if you are I would suggest joining the Mathletes team over any of the A teams

Most of the kids not trying out are kids that wouldn't have made the team this year, just be honest. After the top 10 kids, major drop off in talent. At least be honest with yourself.

Your a disgruntled moron. There were no a,b, or c brackets in that tournament. One bracket for all teams in the age group. But I guess it makes for a good story for you to support your agenda. Go play for your school team, I'm sure your son has a tremendous amount of interest at the next level.

That's commical. Can't you see that those who left did so because the team was horribly run. Guess the kid from Hopkins and one of the players claimed as one of 2 D1 potential players on the team were not good enough. Oh and the middy who went to Terps. The story will always be they were not good enough but the personal emails texts and phone calls asking them to come back saying things will be different. Ask any parent about the nonexistent practices all the cancelation of practice, barely enough kids at tournaments, no offensive sets and so on and so on. There was plenty of talent on the team. Just no coaching.

It was called the C Division where the caliber of team that played was horrible. There was also a JV A and JV B this is where most 2018 teams played even 2019 teams played. I guess I have no idea about the caliber of teams that were in your division like 91 Stampede and 91 White they are definitely AA teams LOL.

That's right, C division dummy, not C bracket. Three divisions, one group not broken up by talent level. Yes they blew out every lower level team and went undefeated with 15 kids, not bad. No one said they were AA last year. Except you. What team does ur superstar play for? If your happy where ur kid is, why do you care so much? I'll tell you who doesn't care, the head coaches of the 4 schools interested in my son, that's who. Doesn't that just burn you? HA HA HA good luck. Why not come down to tryouts on Sunday and give our kids a real schooling with ur superstar? You know you won't, and you know why...

First things first. No one and no one is saying anything about the kids. I have said it it previous post the team was talented but poorly coached. There were plenty of good players on that team just when the coaches start off the season saying there are only 2 D1 players and 2 others get D1 commits before them is funny. Shows you their knowledge. There were plenty of talented players that could have showed better if the team was better run. Come on if your kid played on the team were you happy with the fact that every tournament the team was shorthanded. I don't care how good a kid is if he barely steps off the field he fatigues and skill level declines. The D poles played their tales off but how much time can you stay on the field when only 3 or 4 poles show up to a tournament in 90 degree heat. I am happy your kid is getting looks. I am just pointing out how mismanagement of this team hurt the overall recruiting possibilities of all the players. I would put this teams physical talent level against many teams with some good coaching they could have given a lot of good teams a run. Good luck to your kid and all the kids staying. Wish them all luck at tryouts. Just hope the team is better run than last year.

As I read the back and forth of happy and unhappy posters regarding the Outlaws all I can say is for whatever the reason everyone has a different experience on the same team. It seems there are some who were unhappy and they have the right to post their opinion as do those who were happy. I know many of the parents and players on the team and they were all good people and good kids. Whatever the reasons some will leave and some will stay. Just remember its a service industry and people will always post good and bad things for whatever the reason. There are teams for everyone and finding the right fit is up to the consumer. We at Back of the Cage do our best to be unbiased and allow for information to be posted. The moderators and that includes myself review every post and make sure its not an attack on a kid or an individual. So please lets keep it informative and not attack anyone. We wont let it happen!!!

Come on entering in good tournaments and barley winning a game is not a good thing.

Your a disgruntled moron. There were no a,b, or c brackets in that tournament. One bracket for all teams in the age group. But I guess it makes for a good story for you to support your agenda. Go play for your school team, I'm sure your son has a tremendous amount of interest at the next level.

Lol, ok here it is plain and simple. A 2018 going into 10th grade is considered JV. So if there is a JV A and B what division should they have been playing in. I think either of the JV divisions. There was also a C Division which was made up of really bad teams. So if I am understanding this correctly the team could have played in JV A B and or the C Division. If I rank them I would say the C Division is the lower of the divisions they were able to play in. So yes they dominated in the C Division of the available divisions they could have played in. It's listed in tourney machine for those who are curious. Hofstra Blue and Gold tournament.

2018 C division meant Championship division. There was no 2018 A or B.

Coaching in beginning was not great, then their was a coaching change and the kids started to play really well. Cutting the expanded roster is going to do wonders for this team with Travis and MB coaching. Good luck at tryouts!

Club A teams are worth the $, but if your on B your just padding pockets.

Your not talking about the 2018 Jesters Black team ? Silver has never beaten them and they beat Black twice this year.

Wow. One team out of how many age groups had a decent B team experience. That's the exception not the rule and that's great for those parents and players. I have three kids who have all played club. Sometimes A, sometimes B. 2 have done both during their lacrosse lives. None have ever had a B experience that came close to what the A teams have been. If you do find a club and a coach on a B team that gives you that great experience, stick with them, because they're in it for the right reasons.

No one is getting a free ride to college through lacrosse. If someone is feeding you information to the contrary you need to speak to some athletes. There are 12 scholarships split amongst the whole team. The lax full ride is a mythical beast.

You're 100% correct! It's actually even worse because the 12.5 scholarships for the entire team are ONLY if the team is FULLY funded which a large amount of teams are not.
