So disparage the tourney this year like Denver wasnt expensive?

Exactly

If they lose again they risk losing that air, those coveted names

Fun to watch the mighty fall

Imagine the LI teams banded together and went to the WS to represent NYS and Long Island and to show the rest of the country we are a powerhouse region? Yes, there's a lot of teams on LI, which dilutes the talent somewhat, but at the end of the day, there are 5-6 strong teams who could make a run. Are egos that big for 12 year old lacrosse that "Any Given Sunday" between these top teams is such an issue? Does it, matter if it's 91, Igloo, Express, Moose, Prime Time? They can all beat each other, and likely have.

They can all do it in June at the NAL or Tristar where the rest of the best teams in the country will also be. Newsflash, the majority of best teams in the country do not show up to the World Series. LI teams represented very well at NAL last year besides Legacy. That’s a tournament to win. Or the NLF Championship. Break the cycle, let’s get a LI winner of one of those 2 tourneys.

Probably half the teams that participated in the NLF tourney were A teams at best which is why many of the scores were so lopsided. Way watered down and most of the better LI teams didn't even compete in it. No Igloo, Legacy, Moose, Prime Time, or even Rebels.

Every tournament has some punching bags in it. Wait till the world series line up and you’ll see the same. A handful of good teams and a bunch of filler. Primetime is also not an LI team.

NLF last July had 9 of the top 20 teams ranked according to US Club Lax Rankings. NAL had 9 of the top 20 as well. Tristar right here on LI had 7.

Different tournament organizations so different grouping of teams at each.

World Series had 4 of the top 20 ranked teams.

I would imagine Naptown had the most ranked teams. No teams are excluded for political reasons like the tournaments above. WS might have had 4 of them but I’m guessing 3/4 were missing multiple high level players due to age.

Too many National teams at Naptown. I don’t think they had the most top 20 ranked teams either. Not one LI team went this past year. So that’s 20% of the top 20 right there.

Just curious but is the presence of national teams what keeps LI teams away? National teams are usually a mixed bag. Some good but most don’t practice, have roster turnover and play me ball.

Please stop, that’s fool talk. Legit against B or C teams maybe but that’s about it. They do a good job of making highlight videos with all the fluff that doesn’t win games. 😂😂😜

Looks like Tristar has an A group, a B group and a C group. And Express elected to play in the C group.

They need more practice as they were already embarrassed in their first fall ball tournament. Gotta workout the kinks.

It’s an express run tourney; they need a few gimme games to keep the parents happy.

Just got an email from NLF about the summer tourney coming to LI…says any team can register, click here etc. is that true? Can any club team pay the fee and get in?

Legacy did the same two weeks ago. Your tournament do as you please. Don’t like don’t play. Express is top team in this age group as is, so they should be in the final.

For some reason I get NLF emails and this one was promoting the summer nationals on LI. There was a link to register and the comment read that any team could sign up. Is this true, do you not have to be an NLF member/affiliate?

Is it really to keep the parents happy? That’s been a competitive team for a few years now so wouldn’t parents want/expect to compete against the best teams? Sounds more like the organization doing damage control to protect the brand a get a few wins against weak teams. Rebels even have a harder schedule, which is a hysterical in itself.

NLF is letting teams register but doubtful they will let rebels or igloo in. Too high maint and parents are annoying.

Registration is just an application. I somehow doubt they will allow any teams from immediate geographic areas of their member clubs. This is how the group of 6 teams that started the nlf guarantee they continue to attract talent through the high school years. Without this tournament there would be way more parity.

So thinking about the tristate, if Igloo, Rebels, 2way, BBL registered, they’d be turned away?

Never know till they apply.

2Way has played before. But the player shenagians they pulled with their 2028 team a couple of years ago was definitely frowned upon.
Rebels and Igloo are in the same market as 91 and Express. BBL is same market as Leading Edge.

If the NLF is the be all tournament people are claiming, why would any team be shut out from registering and competing? Every team has their share of annoying parents, let’s stop already! Truth is, the big clubs with teams that were used to blowing teams out regularly are no longer able to do so because other teams haven’t gotten better and can beat them. Compete, stop being afraid!

The fact that you think this is about teams afraid to play others shows you have no clue.

Club lacrosse is a business first, foremost and always.
And the NLF is in the business of cornering elite talent at the upper most grade levels. They don’t care about your one off 7th grade team that can compete right now.
Their marketing schtick and “exclusiveness” creates a demand so elite players migrate to their teams at the upper grade levels to keep the college coaches coming and in turn keep the $$$ rolling in.

Or more diluted but unlikely as kids want to play with the best, against the best and for the best. College coaches want to work with programs that are going to send them those kids year over year. If 91 gives a D1 coach 5-7 great prospects a year while Igloo gives him 1-2 every few years who do you think he is calling. Parents, pick the club with the track record and playing in the best tournaments if your kid is looking to play at the next level. NLF Love it or leave it but the results are there.

Well…I recall the reason the founding clubs started the NLF is because they were tired of blowouts and wanted to create a federation where the competition was the best playing the best. Which is why 70% of the current committed players are from the NLF. So true on migration, those clubs attract the best players.

The NLF doesn’t have the same prestige as it once did, and there are other tournaments. You’re right though, it is a business first, which is why half the kids on those teams barely see the field. That must really impress those college coaches. Keep drinking the kool-aid and running to that New Balance store so you can brag about your kid. Wake up fool!

Would agree. If you play for Igloo or the Rebels your application got lost in the mail. NLF doesn’t need filler teams. 91/Express are the proven teams and college coaches know that. Igloo is where decent rich kids are put out to pasture

Another clueless parent Check out who Express is playing next week at Tri-star. It’s a total joke and they’ve been exposed. Yes, the owners are making their money but you should ask the parents on that team and see what they have to say. The Rebels have a harder schedule, it’s laughable.

You’re pretty much the poster child for what’s wrong with youth lacrosse today. These are twelve year old boys, get a clue. Sad you need to live vicariously through your child who’ll end up quitting the game because of you. Get a grip!
