Who cares?? The LI narrative is always that non LI teams use holdbacks. The WSYL is where they can play vs on age teams. That's great, until they go ahead and bring their MVP in from Texas to help win them the title. Bush league.

It’s about winning. And if a club can get their logo on TV, while winning…And why they’ll be 100+ at tryouts. Because of the success of the club. Now we can talk LI.

Regulators, great coaching, should merge with a club to make the team AA (and keep an eye on the Rush/Legacy merger)
Express, just was never able to add more than one impact player and other teams did and developed. All in all, great team
Rebels, solid team. Played as expected.
Igloo, great team, no reason to tinker. They performed well
91, great coaching that moved this team from decent to elite in 18 months

Yes, most teams go with the vision of winning the WSYL. BUT to bring the team MVP from Texas to a tournament with a 100 mile radius rule is cheating. Doesn't matter if he summers in the Hamptons or that he played for them 2 years ago while living on LI.

Agree. How did Jake let this happen? What about report cards? Was there an excption made here? Completely unfair here. And nice try to change the subject 91 mom.

Sounds like people should be taking issue with the tournament, not 91 and not one individual kid. In any competitive environment, teams will get away with what they're allowed to get away with.
At any point, did any team at the tournament approach a WSYL director to have the roster eligibility of their opponent proven? Seems like with so many people knowing this kids life story it would've been a smart idea to do before the games started.

100%.

I am not even a 25 dad, just came in here see what was posted on the Express- Iroquois drama. If 91 was able to use a resident of TX who once lived in LI 2 years ago then the team and tournament should have to address that. No different than if a team used a kid that was too old.

Ok. Now that all the World Series nonsense is finally over for 2025's, what happens now? Do parents move 2nd and 3rd liners off AA teams to get some playing time? If so, where? Do you go for a specific coach? Should make things interesting for tryouts I think.

Enough with he 91 kid. Great kid, great family, great player. What about LI teams that had players from CT on the rosters? Nobody moaning about that? Or Older kids? There were definately some of those. In the end, Jake got your money, you fulfilled your life long dream of a WSYL experience and its over. Move on.... In a week noone will remember any of this.

Thanks 91 dad, enjoy your win with an illegal roster. CT is within 100 miles. What teams are you claiming had older kids?

Totally agree. "We just want a tournament of on age kids so we can have an even playing field". Then skirt the rules with a player who once lived in NY.

What is the point in having rules, if there are no consequences for violating the rules.

Loved this tournament, but WSYL must do more to prevent super teams from entering the tournament and police/uphold existing rules.

Hard to defend when the 14U MVP is at the 1% showcase and on the roster it shows Team 91, with his HS as The Woodlands TX.

All Long Island played by rules and no out of age players. Did anyone notice VLC 15/16 year olds

No, any proof on that?

Seems like lots of proof that 14U team 91 LI used a TX player who was their MVP

Everyone on VLC Black Ops was 100% on age. A few big kids, but that's all they are - big kids that are 13 or 14 years old right now.

Did u see vlc. When couple kids are big, it is what it is. When 1/2 of team is bigger than defenseman on opposing team, somethings not right. Not to say other teams also cheated. Again Long Island used zero out of age players.WSYL has to do a better job checking and less selling some BS products from Jake

WHO CARES if the kid is from Mars? Its over...Move on. Not sure what people want? Strip 91 because a kid has played with them for years and moved to TX? How many of those teams had older kids, kids from other states, etc.? Get a life already. You are taking 14 yr old lax far too serious. Although stripping them would be funny just to see the reaction of a few of the looney parents.

Again, a taller bigger kid doesn't mean older. Going to middle school in Texas DOES mean you live in Texas though. Now THAT is cheating.

Stop Deflecting, 91 cheated and should lose their title. If not, this is just like every other tournament. That said it will never happen.

HAHAHA, A LI dad saying no big deal, so he moved to Texas. He has played with 91 for years.....What is your stance on hold backs, or kids that are a few months too old for the WSYL that couldnt play but have been with their current teams since 3rd grade? I'm guessing that you wouldn't say "let them play"

Let’s stop with all this nonsense - there’s no reason to believe anyone was over-age.

As for the whining about the “kid from Texas” everyone knows he’s been a longtime resident of LI and a longtime player on 91. The tournament directors reviewed his situation and deemed him eligible to play. No one snuck him on the roster. He was cleared.

I’m sorry if that makes you sad, but it’s probably time for you to move on and stop obsessing over a youth lacrosse tournament that is over.

Assuming you are a 91 parent. Would you be OK if a team submitted their roster and were approved for a player born 5 months before the cut off but was a longtime player on his team? and he went on to be the MVP of the team that won it all?

It doesnt mattter. It was a good tourney for the kids and a decent show put on by the WSYL. If your a Rebels, Regulators or Express parent your team still wouldnt have beaten 91 regardless, with or without a Seaford, TX kid. . Nor would you have beaten most of the teams that 91 played. Just a fact. Those teams have a long way to go before they can be mentioned in same sentence as 91. Express is a rebuild, Regulators is rising but needs help and Rebels.... Well, even tho they looked more competitive this weekend they are the same old. Move on. 91 won. Say it with me. 91 WON....and your life isnt any different today because of it....is it? If it is you should seek therapy, not 5 Below t shirts...

So, that’s not even close to the same thing. A player receives no advantage by moving to another state and is actually at a disadvantage. A player born 5 months early has an age advantage.

No dog in this fight, but no more whining about holdbacks at non WSYL tournaments if you can bring a Texas resident to the WSYL.

Crabs have a bunch of kids on their roster that were once 13. Maybe they could have entered if they asked nicely.

I realize it's not his fault and he's a great player but he materially changed the outcome of the whole tournament. 91 would not have won several of their games without him and not made it out of the quarterfinals for sure. Add him to that Mohicans team and they could have come out 3/2 instead of 0/5 and been a contender for the 2nd spot in that bracket. Won? Probably not, but it makes everything more competitive and an actual World Series instead of the battle of NY & NJ.
