BOTC has been told that this will be the first tryout date in a series of approximately six dates that are still to be published.

Seems that teams have been decided, but only those who made a team have been informed. Don't know for sure, but this is what we have heard. Perhaps they are waiting to tell everyone who did not make a team after others have committed, just in case they get people who drop out. Very inconsiderate to the people who are still waiting for some answer one way or another.

Yes, please inform. The tryouts have been going on for weeks. I have heard that teams have been picked, but only the kids who made the teams were told.

BOTC was only made aware of the first tryout date for Team Long Island. There were supposed to be a series of tryouts with additional dates however those dates were not disclosed to BOTC or the Team Long Island web site.

That said, the registration link on the Team Long Island web site is now active for all their teams implying that the selection process might well be completed.

There were additional tryouts. At least 3 for most ages. I think the teams were picked but it isn't posted anywhere.

Teams were finalized today and calls have been going out. I know that TLI likes to get commitments so if you don't accept your commitment another kid will get to play.

What is a Blue Team? Is this the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th team?

Heard Team Long Island is going by US Lax rules so kids actually can play down if they have a late birthday instead of grade level.....how does this help your child grow as a lacrosse player. If they are decent players and play down then my feeling is they could dominate. Other than boosting ones ego how does the child grow as an athlete?

Depends on the year. Sometimes "red" is best, sometimes "white". When my son played Team LI, blue was "B".

Calls actually started to go out on Sunday and Monday. Most people were told by Tuesday. They usually like to have a meeting to get deposits before telling everyone. If kids don't sign on then they will ask someone who didn't initially make the team.

That was applied last summer with the coaches son on the 3 rd grade team,he played his kid down and barely held on.if the talent is there let him stay in grade appropriate team,it was obvious for this situation he would not have held up playing in proper bracket.

It is not playing down or up! It is actually playing with his age according to US lax . There are plenty of kids that are just as old or older who have been held back a grade by their parents playing in the same age bracket. What is the difference? This is the only way to get the kids who are the same AGE playing together! Just like every other sport does it. It doesn't matter what grade you are in.

How about just doing it by birth year and not graduating year. This would take all of the red shirt nonsense out of the game. Just have your birth certificate available.

For anyone who tried out for Team LI, did you ever get calls or emails that your kid did NOT make the team? I heard that the teams were picked and they even had a meetig to get deposits. No calls or emails to let people know they should move on.

The people who made it mostly were all notified. However I am assuming until he gets all of his deposits from the committed players he won't tell the people who didn't make it. He is Stringing them along until he fills up the teams.....

How is the team LI program? I know they've been around a while , do their top teams compete in the "AA" or elite levels?
