There were about 55-60 kids at first day of Express tryouts. A lot of non Express helmets but they didn't appear to be from many travel clubs.

Looking for the right fit for my son. Any word on second (B) Express team this upcoming season. I heard they had no kids and pulled in kids constantly. Feel bad for the boys (and families) on that team.

Seriously considering going to tryouts for Rebels for 2026.
Hagans is head coach.
Very few teans out there with coaches at the level of Hagans.
With everything Rebels is offering, and Hagans as head coach plus they hsve 2 other coaches this could develop into a great team.
Even if its not in the first year one of the top teams, with the coaching its sure to be a decent team and each year will do better.
And I figure this is a chance to get in from the beginning.

Hagans is a phenomenal coach, his assistant is a college coach. Cant beat that staff.

If you’re seriously considering it just do it. What’s to lose besides a few bucks

2026 roster for 91 are out.

To 91s credit Orange Storm has only 21 kids on the roster. Looks like they are keeping that team tight which is good. Those kids should get good playing time especially if coaches develop their players so they can play deep. Hoping that happens.

2026 Freeze on the other hand is heavy at a 25 man roster.
Not obnoxiously heavy, but a couple too many.
I know people will say there will be peopke who dont accept, but they had a significant showing at tryouts, so anyone who declines will probably be replaced. So expect to see 25 man roster.
How good that team is depends on who accepts.

Friend told me that the 2026 Shore 2 Shore tryout killed it last night.. over 60 kids. Lots of Igloo helmets. Good for them!

The rebel’s selected few kids for each age groups after there “pretryout camp”. So essentially it was tryout to get the best kids before they went to other clubs

Let's all be real here. After Express Haugen, 91 Orange, and Igloo the competition died down greatly on L.I.. Legacy was very competitive with those teams last year but were not around this past season. Not sure what happened there. Outlaws, Empire, Moose, Mama's etc were decent but did not play outside their comfort zones which is expected because losing games = losing kids, which = losing $$$

Bottom line is this.

These boys are 10 years old.

Some are "elite" now and will progress
Some are "elite" now and will regress
Some are developing and will thrive in the future
Some have already "peaked" and want to play baseball
Some just want to play town with their friends which is all but gone!

Commit to the level and "club" that you can afford and remember that your dreams are very different from that of your 10 year old son!

It was a pretryout camp, but they said ahead of time they may select some kids from it after. So if there were some exxeptional kids then they were selected early.
That doesnt mean at the actual tryouts, kids who were at the pretryout wont be selected. Just that evaluations on who to select need to be made at that point assessing the skills of all the kids who tryout.

All very good points. Power can quickly shift, even year to year, at this age, with minimal player turnover. Look at Igloo 2026.. seemed to have the dominant team in this age group, and all their best players are still there.. until this spring.. 91 and Express clearly dominated them this year. So you’re absolutely correct- it’s way too early to be booking a ticket to Colorado, for kids going into fifth grade!

A friend says that the Express A team is $3900

There has to be a much bigger difference in price between the A and B team. Last year it was nearly $1000- difference. Your friend must be quoting you last years price for the A team.

Same with B team. No shows who got emails.

Express B includes (in writing) that they will train with Powers and get positional training over the winter (included in price). Now I don't think this justifies the price hike but its much more than what they got last season. Plus the fact that a director is the coach now I think they will get they focus they deserve.

30 person roster at any level is ridiculous. They should be ashamed.

If parents are notIntelligent enough to pay for it (and they are), they’ll continue to look smart, making almost $120,000 for rostering a single team. Still a ridiculous profit after backing out tourneys (especially when they’re you’re own), gear and coaching. Keep paying and the prices will keep going up.

Rebels tryout so far looks like some good kids trying out.
Hagans and Schroeder (I assume thats the other coach at the tryout) are very instructive with the kids.
I like what I see so far. Hopefully will be as good at tomorrows tryout.

If you think the head varsity coach for St. Anthony is going to be around a lot for a 2026 B team, you will be very dissapointed.

Hagans is a good coach but having to be very instructive at a tryout is not exactly a sign of good talent. You’d like to think a team which intends to be at an A or AA level would have enough talent showing up which understands lacrosse. Theyre not teaching game plays at tryouts so what do they need to be instructing on? Drills?

Thats the most ridiculous statement I ever heard.
Its extremely important to be instructive at practices.
These are kids going into 5th grade. No matter what level they are at, they have a lot to learn. And coaches need to know how well players take their instruction and act on it.
Now I think I really meant the coaches were very interactive with the kids, but instruction is defenitely an important facet on any team at this age level, tryout or not.

More like small pointers without messing with flow of drills. I didn't know what to expect. Good talent all around. Didn't count, but decent numbers at middie and attack. Little short number wise at defense. 2 goalies. I'm new to this this year. Been to a few other tryouts. Talent here is up there imo. Probably mostly bubble level talent compared to the top clubs--my son was at one of them.

I think your missing the point. Your paying 125 bucks for tryout. They are trying to give you coaching tips so you can become a better player, while evaluating you. I think it’s a great idea. My son hasn’t tried out for them but their communications and honesty has been outstanding. Every time I’ve shot them an email they have responded within minutes.

Interactive is probably a better descriptor when talking tryouts. Like this past poster said... instructive is great at practices. Kids are always learning but hopefully a coach doesn’t need to be too instructive at a tryout. Thinking, but could be wrong, that’s what the responding poster was getting at. No one will deny learning is a constant.

Plus what was great was the coaches really motivated these kids at tryouts. My kid and other kids walked out of tryouts really pumped to keep playing lacrosse. It was 90-100 degrees out, and after tryouts my kid went to another space to continue playing lacrosse with another kid.
These kids really enjoyed their time at the tryout, even in the extreme heat.

Im not praising my kid. It was the upbeat motivating way of these coaches at the Rebels tryout that really got the kids, all the kids, really hustling. Despite the extreme heat.

Not trying to start trouble. 24 Lacrosse... They don't have 2026 team or coaches listed for Nassau. Or am I missing something?

But they had tryouts for one this year. But they already occurred.

igloo is overall a pretty junky program... they get people to come out that do not want to travel from mnahasset to Suffolk. The director, Alexander, is beyond pompous. They have 40+ kids at each age, with maybe 2 coaches at practice. I get it, they have nice uniforms... but they have zero recruits for college, don't win games/tournaments, are in the upper $$ range for fees, and have mediocre coaches that don't consistently show for practice.

...but the swag is tight! ...and they have baby blue cages and igloo stickers on the garbage cans at practice!

Express East is not stating what tuition is nor exactly who coaches are for team. Not buying into a club which cant be upfront.

I saw mamaz boys have tryouts this week and tuition is very affordable not looking to pay 3k .

In my opinion they are probably a top 5 team for the age group on LI.

They are not a top team at all. They had tryouts already. Only 26 kids showed up. They have some good teams but there 2026 team is not that great. Go look how they did at their tournaments last year. They stayed away from the big ones and didn’t do well at the smaller ones

Sorry I know they are only 10 and hate to say this but they were not to good. Don’t think they played 91, express , igloo at all. They dodge all the big tournaments like Lax fest and any 91 tournaments maybe this year. But good luck to them and play hard boys !!

I would steer clear of them. Many teams fell apart this year because woman running club is obnoxious. She keeps overpressuring people for constant nonstop fundraisers. You end up paying out of your own pocket for these so your at that 3k mark anyway. And if your team doesnt do it, she threatens to cut those kids from the team.
Bad environment.

A few years back when this years graduating grade '18's were in 5th , 6th, 7th grade there was a team not considered to be elite just a local team. That team eventually got splintered, after many kids got poached and the organization folded into another.

But many of those boys who were in 5th and 6th grade were told the same as many of these posts. turns out the core of that team won the states and many of those boys are preparing for college lacrosse.

Don't get caught up on what they say the level is, in 5th/6th grade use your judgement. Just make sure they play and get coached in practice. If your son doesn't play (see the field) then leave. The only way you get better is by playing on the field. If your son is the best on the field, others will notice and you will notified if another team wants to Poach your son (and that is okay - it is your decision to stay or go).


I would say in 7th and 8th grade is where you want to try and position your son (not 5th and 6th). If you like where you are stay, if not then try to get him more exposure. but again it is playing time your son needs. What I would also say is, what is lost in many of the youth teams. Try to be on a team with potential HS teammates. The more the merrier. If you are a Defender try to get with your goalie or another defender/LSM. If attck/Middie get with someone you will play with. This servers many purposes. 1). Its better to go through all of this with a lifelong friend and 2). you will build and maintain field presence.

Good luck with your journey. it is long and at times questionable. but it is your journey (and as the saying goes, its the journey not the destination) define it as best as you can.


One thing I will say - I am so glad the recruiting rules changed. I believe in 2015 something changed and the recruiting sped up (as well as much of the shadiness).

I agree with the bottom line, which is bring your child to a team with a coach who will help teach & develop your kid, whether or not they win much, and makes it fun for them, and make sure your kid sees the field.

Five years from now, your kid will fondly remember that they had fun playing and getting better, whether they won or lost... But they won’t look back fondly, if they sat the whole time, as a ten year old, even if their team won a lot of tournaments in 2018... it’s a long journey!

How has the whole Outlaws and Rebels thing affected this age group? I understand there are differences in what each program is looking to be/offering but have been hearing a lot of movement between the two at other levels. Mostly due to coaching changes. Did a lot of the Outlaw kids leave? Sons team played Outlaws last year. They were pretty solid for a second tier team.

Tryouts had a mix of helmets. So dont think the Rebels team at this age will be predominantly from any particular club.
My son registered for Rebels, and he was never on Outlaws.

There were a bunch of Outlaw helmets/players at their supplemental camp. Not as many at the tryout last week. A couple at S2S tryouts also. Could mean they've lost a few.

Outlaws had much smaller turnout than Rebels did at each of their first couple of tryouts. They've definitely lost kids.

Well final tryouts for Rebels is this weekend for those still looking.

So after that everyone will see during the season how both organizations teams turned out.

We went to rebel’s tryout. They are great with communications and answering questions. . They had about 20-25 at each but some of the kids at the tryout looked like new players(at this age group). I think they could have a good season if they re evaluate the tournaments they plan to enter. They are currently planning to enter all the A tournaments

That would be a big mistake to enter all A tournaments. Obviously i'm basing this without seeing the team but there is no way they will compete with some of these A teams. It could be pretty disheartening to the kids.

I was at tryouts to. There was a mix of talent, but you really do see that at all tryouts.
Whats great is they are guaranteeing no more than 22 players. Plus they said they would be keeping the number lower than that possibly, because they want the players to be a good fit.
So they are not just looking to accept a player for the money.

Not sure where you get that they are defenitely entering A bracket only.
Tournament schedule is set, but when we asked the question on bracket they said it will depend on the level of the kids on the team.
And of course for any team brackets can change as they develop.

For me having Hagens and Schroeder coaching is such an advantage.
They were phenomenal at tryouts with the kids. You can get much better.
And they are supposed to get a 3rd coach as well.

Anyway I committed my son, and I feel it was a really good decision.

Not sure what your issue is, but Im a parent. And I registered my son for Rebels. And that was my experience.

Keeping the number under 22 because they want the players to be a good fit? You must drink a lot of Kool Aid. If it’s under 22, it’s because hey didn’t have enough players commit or don’t have enough talent. Congrats to your kid on finding a team but please be realistic. Next you’ll tell us they’re not money hungry and don’t “need” to fill 22 spots. Any new organization with only one team per level should be filling rosters as best possible. If losses start accruing, people stop showing up.

22 kids is an okay number, but not necessarily optimal for a lacrosse team.
18-20 is far better. The kids will get a lot more turns at practice, and play much more in tournaments.

Too many teams now are overloading there rosters just so the organization can make more money and pad the directors pockets. Many of these teams are puting 24-30 kids on a team.
They are only doing a disservice to the kids who stand around way too much at practices, and sit on the bench at tournaments instead of playing.

More than that try out.

For what it’s worth, Rebels directors told people long before the tryouts that their organization had a cap at 22 players, and that ideally they’d have 21. We spoke to them in June, and they were extremely open and responsive. We ended up choosing another organization for my son, but the Rebels were very upfront with their communication.. try calling Team 91 directors, before their tryouts, and get them to commit to a “22 player max!”

Look back in thread. There was a whole discussion about Legacy Eels.
There is a reason enrollment is low.
- limited tournaments last year
- seemed to avoid higher level tournaments
- did not do well in tournaments they did attend

Plus Legacy is having serious issues with their teams at all age levels.

I thought Legacy disbanded after laxfest '17..... They had a team last season?

This is not fake news at all. The organization has completely destroyed their own business. It’s actually fascinating to watch. If you flash a few bucks in front of their faces they will do whatever you want. And if you win every tournament They will take down the entire team and say the “need to “change the culture”.

They are hurting , 2023 team didn’t qualify For the WSYL this year , very limited on the equipment you pay for the cost of tution. They train at a swamp of a field at East Islip and raise there tution $350 for what ? Too many daddy coaches.

I think the point wasn’t that the Rebels or Team 91 had 21 players on their roster. It was that the Rebels were happy to discuss that with parents and commit to that before the tryouts.. communication and clarity from the owner.. parents appreciate that, whether or not the Rebels have a good team this year.

91 was able to lower their roster from 27 to 21 this season by raising the season price tag to just over $3,900. Up from $2,800 last season.

At $4000 a kid, it’s not impossible that they will carry just 21. But call me skeptical. (Reminder on Google calendar for June 2019 to see how this turns out)

We are the suckers falling for all this ? For what a tee shirt ? See the MLL championship last night , yup no crowd for a dead end sport at the end of the day.

In the end you do this because your kid loves to play.
- dont do it for the scholarships. You are better off not doing it then, saving that money, and you would end up having more money for your kid for college.
- dont do it if your kid is not being played. Thats just ridiculous. What is he practicing for. You practice so you will play well in your games. If he is not being played, its a waste. Pick a different team.
- dont do it because your kid wants to be on the top team. You are sending the wrong message to your kid. Being part of somerhing in name only, but not contributing to it by playing in the game, means he really earned nothing.
- dont do it just because you want to tell others your kid is on the top team. Your actually harming your kids self esteem, as he continues to watch others play instead of him.
- dont force your kid to play just to relive your dreams in your youth. Your child needs to choose their own path. That is the only way they will be successful and happy. That should be your goal.

If your kid enjoys lacrosse, pick a team where
- he is played. He doesnt have to be a starter. But he needs to play a decent amount of time in games.
- there is a team environment where there may not be equal playing time for all, but every player gets reasonable playing time.
- there is one team per age group. Or at least your on the top team. All the second teams are money grabs. Its way to difficult for organizations to pull in enough talent at tryouts to field 2 teams in an age group. (And everyone at tryouts wont accept). You are better playing for another club.
- Dont be a sucker paying ridiculous figures. Figure out what they are really giving you for your money. Is it really worth it? Why did tuition go up 25%? Certainly costs didnt increase that much in a year.
- Talk to people who you know or that friends know play for or played for that organization to get a better picture. Get the inside scoop.
- make a list of questions. And call and talk to the coaches before accepting an offer. If they wont talk to you, or give you [ChillLaxin] answers, then run. It can only get worse from there.
- make sure the organization is investing in proper coaches for your team. Not just one head coach and the rest volunteer daddy coaches getting a free ride for their kid.

Once on your team
- dont switch mid season. It does nothing but hurt your kids image when he tries out for other clubs. And teaches your kid the wrong lesson about following through with his commitment to his team.
- make sure your kid enjoys playing for the team when deciding to try out next season.
- if you find during the season the organization does not follow through with what they promised, then walk after the end of the season. Find another team. Otherwise it will only get worse.
- practice with your kid. And make sure your kid understands practicing daily at home is the only way he will get better.
- when at tournaments enjoy the game. Dont be crazy on the sidelines shouting. Let the coaches do the coaching.
- dont let winning be everything. In the end it should be whether your kid is enjoying thenselves, and developing as a player. You certainly dont want to lose all the time. But you also dont want to win at any cost.

Have a great season.

You sir is on the wrong board with your logic and sound advice. I agree with you 100%. My son left a pretty good team so he can have time to also play basketball and i could not be happier he made that decision.

So, Its fake news.
1- 2026 practiced at Islip HS or Chicago Park last year.
2- Just because they only went to 1 "My Lacrosse Tournament" tourney to line 91's pockets doesn't mean they didn't go to top tourneys. All the others were against teams from MD, NJ and CT. So more fake news. They didn't go and play the same teams and beat up on Moose lax, Empire, the Ducks, then get a t-shirt. They did loose to 91 and Express, but the games were very respectable. They are either 3 or 4 at this age group, equal to Igloo. But them and Igloo could beat the others on any given day.
This sounds like the same guy that cries about Legacy all the time.
3-The coaches are "daddy" coaches. But look at their resume, and they are former college players or varsity coaches.
4-They practice a ton.
5-My son loves the team and has grown playing for them.

In the spring the eels went 5-7-2 , fl$ 2-1-2 , million 1-3 , prime time 2-3. Not sure how they did in the Fall but I know they didn’t win much. Keep spending 3k , with that record for spring guess your College players and varsity coaches did real good for you. EELS just admit your a B level team.

Not that you are stalking 9/10 year old boys. But... name one team besides the 3 mentioned that are better than them? They played in the A brackets and went .500. The roster is small and they get good playing time, unlike a 30 man roster. They play good competition and my son loves the coaches and teammates. They are a lot cheaper than 91, Express and Igloo. I do think they are all way too expensive.

Valid point your right comes down to it they are just kids playing a sport that they love and hopefully stay with and have fun !! not talking about the kids it’s just the crazy parents that make points they should not make .

Seems like a lot of clubs are stepping it up on the coaching front and trending away from daddy ball. Less conflict of interest in not having kids on the team; better quality coaching. At this age group, Express brought on Wieczorek for B team, Rebels brought in Hagans, Igloo brought on Blake Miller. Any other teams making changes and going this route?

1-Last kid, not first. So I am letting him play where he loves his coaches and teammates.
2- Still $1K+ cheaper than Express, 91, or Igloo.
3-20 player roster, plenty of playing time.

Do daddy coaches get paid or free tuition or both ? I have seen favoritism with daddy coaches , they play it off like they are harder on there kid but game situation there son is in before someone else most of the time.

There’s no secret as to why legacy doesn’t post any coaches on their website. The only club that does not let parents know who’s coaching. Nope, just pay and roll the dice!

I have no idea what their compensation is. My point above was a response to the fat fingered guy. People may have had bad experiences with "daddy" coaches, as I had in the past. I was referring to our experience with these coaches on this particular team. There is no favoritism, and they run a very good practice and my son is developing nicely and gets plenty of playing time. Some people on here are obsessed with this organization. If you moved on, be happy, but apparently you are not and have to justify your move. We moved on from another team, wish them well, and take ownership of our decisions.

Legacy is a “B” organization with 1 good team which is 2024 that’s about it they need to figure it out because tryouts were a low turn out thruout . JMO

At this grade level on Long Island you are a B team unless you play, and compete with Express (Haugen & Lemma), Igloo, & 91. Sad but true. Other than those 4 teams the competition locally is non-existent.

Right now, for 2026 teams, Haugen, 91, Igloo are clearly 1-2-3. And you’re right that you have to compete with these teams, to be considered above a B Tteam. But these are also ten year old kids. Many kids that are on nobody’s radar right now will soon start to emerge. Nobody really knows which teams will step up and be competitive with these teams over the next year or two. But there will be competition coming...

Everyone knows things can change. I think they're obviously referring to right now. No one could possibly predict the future. Look at almost every other A team that these clubs field. They're all 1, 2, & 3. I couldn't imagine them dropping far, if at all.

An earlier post referenced how the Rebels were going to keep a max of 22 players with 21 ideally. Just saw they would conduct another supplemental tryout looking to fill 4 additional spots. Not enough commits? It can’t be them looking for the right fit or talent at this point. The talent has committed elsewhere. Tough at this point for any team to find key players. Even without there being a Rebels-Outlaws connection, they both seem to be in same boat.

Very likely that the top three wouldn’t drop to a lower level, if for no other reason than they have large tryouts, and there are plenty of players looking to play for them. They can survive a few players leaving, better than the others. The more interesting question to me is ‘Who will be the teams that step up, and at least become competitive with LI 2026 AA teams?” I’d say it’s not going to be the teams struggling to get fifteen players at its tryouts.. look for a team getting more like 40 or players or more at their tryouts.. I am sure everyone notices the barrage of emails the past few weeks, from lax teams with plenty of positions that they still need to fill! They aren’t coming from 91, Express, or Igloo..

Last email said that the 2026 Rebels need four more players.. but their regular tryouts were actually into August (they had the supplemental camp in July). I’m sure plenty of kids were committed by that point. But it’s the first year, and there really is no reputation established yet.. year two, will be a better barometer. Shore2Shore didn’t have many kids year one, but this year they had very large turnouts.. probably didn’t hurt making the WSYL..

There is no issue. Rebels had enough kids show for tryouts. But there were kids who didnt get offers. They wont do what some teams do, which is make offers just to fill the slots.
From Day 1 they told people the team would have somewhere between 18-22 players. It currently has 18 players. So they have 4 spots they will fill if they find the right players. If not, the team is fine at 18.
And there are plenty of teams in past that have found quality players into the fall and spring. Thats why so many teams have advertised they are doing additional tryouts.

For those of you on these B and C organization teams of the big organisations, you should seriously be looking at bailing out soon and looking somewhere else. They are looking like they will be a complete bust.

You are better off contacting the teams like Rebels, Outlaws, R$sh, Turtles, etc... that may have a few spots left and have them evaluate your kid to see if you are offered a spot.
You never know. Maybe one of them is able to work out something on tuition to offset the initial deposit if you made one.

Well, after reading the comments on this thread I will say there are some very good points being made. My son is on a travel team. I would say a low level "B" team and I am happy. Nice kids, great parents. I actually would rather spend more time with them then my town team. My son, I would say is going to take time to develop. What I mean by that is there are some kids I see on the town team that are very, very good. My son lacks the maturity right now to say I need to keep up. He loves the game so I am not going to just wait for PAL every spring. I see improvement every year which is all i can honestly ask for. I don't think my son would get much out of joining the big three. He is 9 years old. Having played travel sports my whole life I saw good kids at a young age just quit as they got older. They wanted to spend time with there friends, interested in girls, other sports. So i am not worried he isn't exactly the superstar at his age level. Nobody remembers the goals you scored when you are 9.

My comment is more for advise about Box Lacrosse. Does anyone play it? Does anyone have recommendations? My son really wants to play and I think its a great idea. It will make his stick skills better and help his quickness improve. I am just wondering where to go? I know IGLOO has there own program and I think team 91 does as well. I have seen advertisements on BOTC for one program and i know of another program but that is it. Any assistance would be great.

I recommend doing Box Lacrosse with North of the Border (NOTB). They offer a few different services through out the winter time and also the summer time at a very affordable rate considering they have to pay the indoor costs. NOTB is an affiliate of Legacy Lacrosse.

You should avoid Island Box. Last year was a fiasco. I know people who went through it. Langtry disappeared in January and wasnt around for tournaments. And left some grades with coaches who were not good at all, and had a horrible tournament where kids were throwing up at the end, and these coaches got endless penalties for the coach fighting with the refs, and coach forfeited championship game on the kids.

Plus Langtry told everyone he was away due to dealing with old concussion issues. In actuality he was drinking and got in car accident and fled the scene. Newspaper in Denver just recently reported.

What do we know about Rebels team at this age? How is team looking?

Big ? at this point. They were looking for some additional kids a week ago. Never know what they ended up with. I'm sure someone will come on saying how great they look and how good they'll be but, realistically, no one will know until they line up against others. They may have minimal competition at the Blatant fall tourney which could help build confidence if they can win.

At this point the majority have committed their kids to a team. Hopefully you have some good coaches, play in some fun tournaments, and your kid improves. Relax and have fun watching your 10-11 year old play. Otherwise you are wasting the little time you have with your kid while he is young.

People care. 35+ kids are on the Express team. I will say the team goes non stop and practice wise it’s a ton. So is it better to be on a team that has the minimum number of practices or be on team that has like 50-70 practices and playing time is tough to come by.

While I agree the rising price of these organizations is getting out of hand this year. Ill respond with an example using my family. I have 2 sons. One is a very good player (still has much to learn) and plays for one of the top teams in this age group. My older son who is a good player but doesn't play for a top tier team as he didn't make it so he is playing for a smaller organization but a decent club. We pay more than double the price of my younger son than my older. What we get for the money is night and day.
-youngest practices / trains 3 days a week while my oldest practices once a week. (this is key)
-youngest gets 3 coaches, 1 for each position. None of the coaches have kids on the team, oldest gets 2 coaches. One is a great coach the other is a Dad coach
-youngest gets 10 tournaments while my oldest will get 6.
-Swag items, my youngest gets everything. my youngest gets a uniform, shooting shirt.

My family is not rich by any means but when it comes to my sons wanting to play and allowing them to play and train to the best of their abilities I think the choice is clear when I had to make it.

I do think there are people (parents mostly) that throw around the fact that their son plays for 91, Express thinking it a thing of stature. I cant stand those people.And trust me my youngest has a few of them on his team.

Now if my youngest says to me next season I don't want to play anymore I may just disown him! LOL It would hurt (a lot) but in the end I do all of this for them. And I want them to be excited for what ever they do.

No we still have our weekends. At his age they generally play on Sat late / mornings (though this will change this year). We usually have the rest of Sat and Sundays. If hes not at Lacrosse on the weekends hes out riding his bikes, playing wiffle ball in the street with friends. And haven't missed a bbq yet! Yes we don't go to the beach but that because I hate the beach. lol

Having 10 tournaments makes it sound like you're getting your money's worth. But if your kid is on the 4th or 5th line, its just covering up the real issue of having such a large squad and getting minimal playing time when there's a blowout. Kids at this age are better served getting training they need and doing half the amount of tournaments.

10 tournaments is not a lot. 2 or 3 fall, 2 or 3 Winter/Spring (box or field), and 5 Summer. You can do that and still be done be the first or second week of July. Get on a team that offers that and it'll be easier to cut that club check.

Thats not actually accurate about 2025 Knights. They no longer exist, but are spread across a number of teams. There really was no merge.

Igloo Deep Freeze (which is their B team) is playing at the Legacy Columbus Day tournament.

2026 Rebels are still together. Just trying to work out best practice time for all players, sinxe so maby of us also play fall sports. They practice twice a week right now, plus organization added for all teams 2026-2031 three dates in October for additional training clinics.
2025 Rebels has practice time at same time as 2026. So one time the coaches decided to train them together.

Do the Rebels and Outlaws practice at same places? This sounds like an Outlaw parent or coach trying to create negative buzz about the Rebels. Pretty obvious someone saw that combined practice and made it seem like it was a bigger thing than it was by saying they team folded/merged.

So the rebels do have a 2026 team? Many reports floating around that they folded at this age or are combining with the 2027's (what parent would want that If they do have a team... ?) Lol to Rebels playing in the B Division of their own tournament. Some "elite AA" travel club they have over there. Let's see how Mike Brennan responds to this post....

Rebels 2026 parent here... There definitely is a team. Perhaps there are some growing pains mixed with the time of the year and conflicts with other sports, but it's been rare so far to have the whole team at practice at once. The directors have addressed this. I don't think anyone is happy about that. I think the team has talent, but after just one month the team hasn't had the reps as a team/unit to have any kind of chemistry. They will surely be far behind any team with a bunch of core players returning from previous years. I think the practices have been productive for those that have been consistently attending. I'm not thrilled, but not close to throwing in the towel either. Personally, I look at the fall as preseason for the real season in the spring/summer. I believe there are 18 players on the roster. They said they would not add kids just for the sake of rounding out the roster and it looks like that is the case. As I said the kids at the practices look pretty good to me.

I think its realistic for them to be in the B bracket. Its not realistic to think a brand new organization is going to have the right players to play in A or AA brackets. Those kids are already on A or AA teams and not leaving for a startup regardless of the marketing lure of gear they receive. It will take some time for a well-rounded team to develop. In the meantime, they shouldn't place themselves in a situation where they fail right from the start. From a business perspective, doing that just leads to kids wanting to leave after a year... then its a scramble to field a team again. Separately, it seems odd you feel the need to call out MB... there must be some animosity there -- possibly a former or even current Outlaw?

Are Rebels playing in Tristar Octoberfest? It looks like there won’t be a B division. Registered for , as of now, are: Igloo Dire Wolves, Shore2Shore Raiders, Outlaws, LI rebels, and Long Island Knights. Plus Express Haugen played last year, and many teams are still registering, so one could guess they’ll be back.

Three of those would be legit A teams, so maybe everyone can see how they fare..

Fall is always tough on practices in any organisation because of other teamsports commitments such as football and soccer most of all. 2026 has had a hard time getting a schedule that works for everyone. So it got off to a slow start. But its coming together.
What I can say is Hagens and Schroeder are amazing coaches. And the kids that come work there butts off. And these kids do have 2 practices a week. Many teams only do 1 in the fall. Plus MB has also added 3 October clinics so thats additional time for kids to work on their skills.
The goal of course is to be in the A division, but this is the fall and with the slow startup and the need for the kids to gel more, the B division is the right choice for this tournament.
Whats good is the decisions are being made based on whats best for the kids, not just because the organisation wants to be listed as an A team on the books.
The focus is to create elite teams. That means making the right choices along the way,creating the right path, so the kids improve skillwise, gel as a team, and grow confident. Then they will become an elite team.
And when you have concerns, MB, Taylor, and the coaches are always willing to talk and be up front. How many teams that you know have that open communication?

There are “A” teams (or “AA”” as some call them) and then there’s teams that play in the “A” division. Only two (maybe 3) “AA” teams on Long Island. We all know who they are.

Whoever creatwd the game schedule for Halloween Havoc didnt do a very good job.
Epic Jokers only ended up in that championship game because they played the 3 weakest teams for their initial games.
If they had played Roar or Greenwich they would have lost. It would have been far more interesting to see those teams against Force in the championship game.
The organizers should have recruited one more team and then had an A and B bracket. If not, do a much better job setting up games.

2026 Outlaws will win the Octoberfest in a cakewalk. Book it! Very underrated, and still tough despite the Rebels trying to pick the team apart. Beware the skull & crossbones!

Annapolis won both of their games. Kind of expected since they have 5 12 year olds. LI Express beat North. DC Express was also there.

My sons team played them. Its def a money grab. Lets put a director as coach promise the world and take kids that should not be playing travel. There was basically not defense. Boys just walking in on those poor goalies

I honest don’t have a problem with them having a B team with kids new to lacrosse. My issue is charging 3800. The same price as the A team. That’s insane. Even 91 charges less for there B team

They have a small roster and an outstanding coach. You can't get better than that and he is hands on and coaches them up. Problem is... that team was a not good last year and they had to rebuild and didn't attract a lot of talent at tryouts. And rebuilding a B team is hard because parents worry about the attention the team gets.

Respectfully disagree. There was plenty of talent at tryouts. There was close to 60 kids. My kid is a B team player. I would have gladly had him play on the B team if they weren’t charging an insane price for the B team(also the same price as the A team). Us B team parents know the A team is gonna get more attention. As a result the B team should be less money than the A.

The problem is that the A team takes too many players, so you have no chance of the B team getting any talent. Thats why the Express B teams go no where.
And for that price you should have 3-4 coaches. If you dont have that your wasting your money.

The market has grown saturated.. There is no way even the top clubs can keep increasing costs 10-15% a year. We are at peak club lacrosse. Consumers need to ask themselves if it makes sense to pay over $3k for potentially up to 10yr just for the shot at 'maybe' getting a partial scholarship for college.
Economic reality should matter.
I have a max amount i'm willing to spend each year for my son's travel that i simply wont go beyond. If my club's tuition increases beyond that - I will look elsewhere ..

Long Island Lacrosse Club is a new youth club based from the Adult Club Long Island Lacrosse based out of Port Washington, but have roslyn and manhasset kids also, and are looking for more players as well. Coach is Steve Sombrotto. My son is in the program and it is in depth, August through late June. (takes off the summer months so kids including mine can enjoy camp.) Play a ton of tournaments 3 or 4 in fall , 5 in the spring, Fall league, Ton of gear, all for $1400. Cant beat it, and team is well coached and competitive.

Forgot to mention that also included is 16 winter session workouts, and 16 Speed and agility training sessions as well.

That is bogus about the Hawks having 12 year olds. I was on the sidelines and a group of LI dads started complaining about the hawks having hold backs as soon as the game got out of hand. One LI dad, maybe you, came back to watch part of the Express North game and complained that our bench was different, implying that we added 2025 players. The 2026 kids didnt even leave the bench as they had back to back games.

Can you confirm that these are the same players on the Hawks as last year? If so, a parent told me personally that there "are 3 or 4" 11 year olds on the team. That would make them 12 this year depending other birthday.

There can definitely be 11 year olds on the team, just like ANY 2026 team. There are kids with fall birthdays you know. As far as the same kids, who knows?? does any team return the same kids every year?

No one checks and there are fall birthdays, but some take liberties and fall birthdays turn into summer birthdays which turn into, well I guess the kid could be left back, it does become a little ridiculous.
The only thing that matter should be calendar year birthday. You should only be allowed to play on a 2026 team if you are born in 2008. 2007 you should be on a 2025 team. Period.

Wrong, the vast majority, like 47 of 50 states have laws that say to start Kindergarten you have to turn 5 befor 10/1 of that year. In Maryland you start K if you turn 5 by 8/31. Yes, some of the Hawks will turn 11 this fall and early winter, but none are 12.

It was actually from the referee that there was 5 kids on the Hawks that were 12 right now. The referee commented to the Annapolis coach that he had some big kids. The coach replied that 5 were 12.

That's not how it works. There's different age kids in every grade. So a fall bday kid has to play up, what happens to him when the grade ahead of him graduates and he wants to play lacrosse the summer before his senior year?

Most of Maryland football is 7u, 8u, 9u and so on. You need a state issued ID to play and it's checked pre game each week. Maybe lacrosse will have to get there eventually.

Can only speak about the express north team. Yes that was their top north 26 team.Why they made them make the trip with only 13 players and without their best players who were playing football is very strange. Also a 7 hour round trip for 2 games...

I don t doubt for a minute that all the boys on the Hawks are 2026’s. What all of us here on LI have issue with is that all the boys are older and more mature that we have to play. 12-18 months at these developmental ages is huge. I was at the Hawks game and several of those boys were obviously older and more mature than then the Express kids. Please don’t argue that point. Own it. You aren’t breaking any rules but why the BS that every one Is 9-10 like the boys on Express, or any of the Long Island teams. Please.....

The oldest child on The Hawks 2026 team turned 11 in July. He did not even play in the Express North game. Funny thing is, he is the smallest player on the team. There are in fact 5 players that are 11, the rest are 10. Most of the team are returnkng players from last year, and the core group has been there since the beginning 3 years ago.

Children go through growth spurts at different ages. It is sad that there were parents complaining as soon as the game started. Complaining that kids have calf muscles...seriously, that is your basis on how old a kid is? Aside from that, it was good to play a team such as those express teams. They a a talented group of boys with plenty of good lacrosse ahead for them.

You’re missing the whole point. If the state of Maryland says you start K if you turn 5 by 8/31, well what if the parents hold their kids back, and don’t start him in school until the following year? Or a kid is held back for academic reasons? That’s obviously a huge advantage, short term, especially at this age, if they’re playing with a younger grade. But long-term, being held back actually hurts development.. big fish/small pond...

Express does the same thing to other teams, they are always looking for older bigger kids,. Dont hate the player hate the game. I agree move toward a U system at the time of the event. If you age out, then you go on another team, best way to do it, most fair way. I dont mind my kids playing with older kids, in fact i encourage it, only will make them better, only drawback is when there is physicality that kids maybe a year or year and a half older bring that someone could get hurt. I would never understand why anyone would want to play younger weaker kids, but it happens.

LI folks need to realize bigger, strong, faster athletes are starting to play the game. these kids may in fact get held back if they go to private school. what then? the days of average athletes playing lacrosse at a high level will be over when this group gets to college. by the way, will still be a way less athlete than football and basketball...

Long Island Players will always be great players because they are into it and have great coaching. same reason there are so many great hockey players come out of simbury ontario. baltimore players know they can’t compete, so that’s why they don’t go to WSOL, they were blown out by Long Island players the first year and never wanted to compete again, because there are age rules.

Not sure why some think 91 Orange is better than Igloo Dire Wolves. They played twice last Spring- Igloo lost in braveheart in first game (despite outplaying 91 the entire game), and then Igloo crushed 91 at LaxFest.

That braveheart was crazy,, each team had at least one chance at the goal, I think maybe that person put them a little lower in their rankings because they got smoked at the same tournament by express, I guess you could say Express 91 Igloo are clearly three in some fashion, but who would you put after that to fill out the top 10?

Those three are the top 3 teams. My son does not play on either of the 3 but has played against them. As an outsider it would seem to be Express, 91 Orange, Igloo, and then a fall off of teams that could beat each other any given game. Express North, Harveys, Moose, Outlaws, Shore 2 Shore, Legacy, Roar... Once outside of that it doesn't really matter.

Nobody can argue that the Express and 91 2026 teams were the best two on Long Island last year. And Igloo had probably been the best (in 2026) the two previous years, so they clearly knew that they needed to make changes and adapt this year (and Igloo did make a lot of major changes).. so we can expect those three at the top this year; but as you see in other age groups, as kids hit ~fifth grade, new kids who were afterthoughts in past years start to get their mojo. And many players move to other teams for opportunity to develop, so you do see a reshuffling of the deck. My opinion is you’ll see one or two other teams start to separate from that lower tier, and at least be somewhat competitive with the top three. Without naming names, look for organizations that had larger talent pools to pick from this year, and that have had significant turnover...

Probably the same guy who talks about Shore 2 Shore having 60+ kids at tryouts including a dozen Igloo helmets. His kid probably moved over there and its significant.

Shore 2 shore will have their chance this weekend. the tournament will show where teams are at. Igloo is competing express and some others. between last week and this week you will get an idea. I do agree, as these main teams continue to carry so many people, kids will leave and go and there might be a little bump in some of the other teams. I am not sure it will dilute the top 3 all that much though, Club lacrosse is not using the NFL model where even the weaker teams move up quickly. lol

Saturday is cancelled. So we wont get to see what happens this weekend. But coaches i think are trying to arrange games with each other as a substitute in the coming weeks, at least to get some work in before the fall ends. post if you hear about any confirmed games.

my son plays on the Long Island Lacrosse Club. they played friendly game with Shore 2 shore A/B tonight. Long Island won easily, but it was great that teams are setting up their own games. LILC will play moose lax and Roar again this weekend, then has plans to play Igloo A and Express A next weekend.

He sounds exceptionally young for his grade or playing up. That would have him turning 18 after Thanksgiving of his freshman year of college. If Lacrosse went to 9U, 10U, 11U, and so on there would still be 11 year olds playing on 10U teams at some point. My son plays for a 2026 team and just turned 11 the other day. He has never been reclassified, and will never be.

That's the age you're supposed to be unless you are held back or has a December birthday. It's always been that way. I have a September birthday. I started college at 17. My older son is 2026. He turned 10 in May. The oldest 2026 kid on our town team is still 10. He will be 11 this December.

I wouldn't use that as an excuse. I was there and saw one of the express games. I'd say they made alot of unforced mistakes on the field that led to many turnovers. All 3 teams had impressive skill though.

Igloo could very well be the best team this year. Kids change. Kids switch teams. And kids grow. Or they recruit harder. Bottom line the whole grade is chasing the top 3 teams, and that wont change this year. 91didnt play any of the other big 2 in their tournament so hard to tell who the best is.

Bottom line is 91 Orange, Express Haugen and Igloo are the best 3 and will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Why continue to debate this?

Why there are other clubs trying to play catchup. If people today weren't such front runners with no loyalty to people teams would balance out a bit, those top three look to pick off kids who might have been developed with other teams. if the kids were loyal and stayed and let their teams develop they would balance out. Watch how those top 3 teams rosters change over the course of the next 5 years.

Yes there are some strong town teams but that is because they are playing with the players from the clubs. If you put rockville centre against express but the rockville centre kids who are on express play with express, its not even close.

Sachem is an ok team, but take away all their players that are playing club and they become ordinary. If you want to call yourself a town team your kids should not be on clubs also. its misleading.

What about Legacy? I think they surpassed igloo and the other programs who are declining besides the obvious 2 perennial programs

For some reason there are a few haters on here that just keep bashing them. No one else is winning against them besides those 2 you mentioned. And the scores are usually close and its a good game. 91 is above everyone else in this age group, so unless your son is a lax prodigy, they are not cracking that line up. Express and Legacy are usually 1/2 goal games.

Legacy takes a beating on here and I don't understand why. They are a scrappy team that always plays hard and at least attempts to play the "Big 3" from time to time. There is never any talk about the other club organizations that run multiple tournaments and put their teams in B brackets and lose to town teams. At least Legacy will try and challenge themselves and try to compete. Something to be said about that.

All better than most club teams. Of course each team has a few high level club players on their rosters, hence the reason why they are very good. Like stated before, who cares. Town lacrosse is all but gone so good for the ones that still hold it down. I do not think its a stretch saying that all of those town teams, among a few others will have more wins than losses when they play in club tournaments this spring/summer season. Look at a few of the fall/winter results already.

I am talking about the Legacy tournament on Columbus day and Legacy beat the B Igloo team. And the B igloo team is a nice team and very well coached, but they are not anywhere close to those top 3 teams and neither is legacy.

the point being made was comparing some town teams to some of the better club teams. what is misleading is that the stronger players will alway be the stronger players, so if they are playing with their town, their town team will be strong, if they are playing on a club that team will be strong as well by virtue of them being on the team. Rockville Centre is a strong team, and many of their guys play club. If their town teams plays without them they will not be as strong, and if their club team plays without them they would not be as strong. thats all, no one is saying they can do what they choose to do.

I dont see anyone bashing legacy, they have a nice program. Kids are into it and well coached. But i think the debate was about the division. Ok we know who the best three teams are,, great everyone else is chasing them, super,, i dont know why it is so taboo to talk about the next 7 teams and who people might feel are the ones closing the gap on the top 3. its a message board i thought that is what you are suppose to do. And if we talk about those 7 teams, it is somehow insulting to the top 3. Get it together people stop being so sensitive.

That technically would be cheating, and that would be a joke. But if you are playing a town tournament and everyone is from your town, or playing in the PAL league, everyone should be above board with the rules. I understand they are not but they should at least try to.

one would have to have garden city and manhasset in there as well and maybe a few others as well, three village, syosset, etc,,,

I think we can all agree that a kid not on a town team roster should not be brought in as a “ringer”. But I’m not sure that is what is being said here.

Club kids should of course play with their town teams.

I think Garden City might be one of the only true town teams who play with kids that dont play club. So if the Garden City kid chooses to play club he doesnt play with their Town Club team. Dont think some of the other Roar rockville centre put that restriction on their town teams,

think the conversation was about wasting money on B/C level club lax when people are ignoring the importance of home town PAL lax , years ago there was 1 maybe 2 elite clubs and if you didnt make it , there was no B TEAM or some other crap travel team. My dad and mom were ok saying you didnt make it , practice harder with your PAL team and we try again next year !!! OK so your son did not make team 91. And you continue to have him play in the town PAL league. thats great. But If he finds a club to work with why is that so terrible. When you say town Spring PAL, that only goes from late march to June. What if you want him to play a little more in the summer, or play in some fall tournaments etc???? I dont know whats wrong with finding a club and dont know why anyone would bash any people for getting teams together and teaching kids how to play lacrosse. Now if you have an issue with particular clubs, and dont feel that they are providing what you think they should for the price, then you need to explore other clubs. Tru Blue is not 3 K. The knights are not 3k, I heard Long Island Lacrosse Club is less then 1500. If your town is offering lacrosse in the fall and winter that is a good option as well, but not every town is doing that.

Legacy EELS have a losing record last yr and this yr just facts .

Express Parent here.... Igloo will be better this year, 91 always puts good product out. Legacy will compete. Watching them play box with Express every week. They upgraded quite a bit. Fall ball means nothing. The best teams will rise in the BIG tournaments. 2026 age eligible for NLF Championship this year, Naptown will be big, Tri Star usually has good draw. Hopefully Igloo and Legacy get into bigger tournaments similar to NLF. I get the club politics, but playing teams like Laxaxhussetts, Annapolis Hawks, Bethesda... will show teams where they stand.

The question wasn't playing the teams out of the area. the question was for clubs on long island.

Keeping to the 4 in discussion here are my thoughts:

Three years ago...2016: (1) Igloo, (2) Legacy, (3) 91, (4) Express
Two Years ago.....2017: (1) 91, (2) Igloo, (3) Express, (4) Legacy
Last year..............2018: (1) Express (2) 91, (3) Igloo, (4) Legacy
This year............. 2019 (1/2) Will be battled out between Express, 91, and Igloo. Legacy will show drastic improvement after rebuilding last year.


There is no overly dominant team at this age. There are the top 3 (maybe 4) then everyone else. CSH Roar, RVC Futures town teams (who have many kids on all of the above are by far the best town programs I have seen)

These posts are by far the most sensible here. Those are the top 4 teams on LI, and no other club team is even close. I would argue the order of the top 3, but any of them could beat the other on any given day. All very talented clubs.

I think everyone agrees those are the top three. I still think there’s a big drop off after those three. I include legacy in that dropoff. Legacy is a nice program. But their team at this age group isn’t in the same league as those three

that's where you are wrong. legacy won the world series of lacrosse a few years ago, they have some good up and coming teams . The club is also more of a tight knitt family. Great training and good connections for your kids. do not listen to the hype of parents from 91 , playing for them is like buying good year tires. You pay for the name . You have to see the forrest through the trees.

Its funny how everyone keeps talking over the same thing over and over and over again. The top 3 are the top 3, I dont think anyone is disputing that, and you can choose who you may think is 1,2,3 but they are all in there, I personally think it is 91, igloo then express. But the question is who is next, not to belittle anyone, where does moose lax, legacy, shore 2 shore, outlaws, empire and others fit? How do they stack up and are there others that I am not mentioning????

In My Opinion- the best Farmingdale 2026 players are on Shore2Shore, not Legacy. In fact, a couple Farmingdale players who didn’t even make the 2026 Shore2Shore “A” team, were picked up by Legacy Eels.. no opinion here on how good Legacy Eels will be, but Farmingdale had one very good PAL team and one weak PAL team.

Is there any talk of Nassau PAL and Suffolk PAL doing anything together? A tournament or all-star game vs. each other? The All-star thing would be tough because you'd have a coaches kid vs. coaches kid game but why not a cross county town tournament?

The club tournaments outside of the 4 team "A" brackets are town kids playing with kids from another town competing against true town teams (and losing). Why not just get the best town teams playing against each other? We would 100% see better competition overall and get more L.I. kids involved.

Too many of the flyby-night clubs travel off L.I. or play meaningless competition and who does that help and what cost does that add to the already high cost of lacrosse?

It always seems to come down to the PAL leagues vs the clubs, i really don't know why it has to come to that. Remember the PAL league is something that runs for 3 months. For many clubs they are going most of the year like 11 months. If kids want to be committed to lacrosse dont know why they cant co exist.
Or why there is such vitriol about the town vs club situation. Some towns have tried to have their own club experiment. Some do ok with it.
But i would not bash all the clubs. I think many try to give kids a good path of a more competitive atmosphere of learning, and thats good.
If you want to argue with what they charge or how much they do you can debate that. Thats why parents need to do their homework on the clubs and see if a particular club is right for them, location, price, level, coaches, activity.

kids will shuffle around and end up on multiple teams. There are many many options but parents just have to do their homework to find the right situation for their kid.

So it's quite obvious that you have been trolling by asking who the 4th team is over and over in this age group to plug your Shore2Shore nonsense. Legacy crushed them every time they played them last year. Legacy handled Mooselax and any other LI team besides 91 and Express. They only scrimmaged Igloo last year. As any normal person like the several who expressed unbiased opinions above, 91, Express and Igloo are the top, and Legacy is the only other LI team that can compete with them and always plays in the A bracket. I rather have my son compete in the A bracket and loose to Express/Igloo/91 in a very competitive game than play in B brackets and beat up on B level teams. So please tell me of 1 club team that beat Legacy besides the other 3 mentioned? Legacy trains with Express every Sat afternoon in Box. Its always a spirited and competitive. That's what you pay for.

Rumor has it that the Lizards will be hosting PAL Long Island Championship games between Nassau & Suffolk to give the kids something to play for at the end of the season. Not a bad idea to bring some excitement back to town lacrosse

PAL should look to how Football runs their divisions. Teams are seeded correctly you play regular season games then you play a playoff game with a championship. Then maybe as a added bonus the Suffolk winners should play the Nassau winners.

Shore2Shore/ Knights and Mooslax are not in the same conversation with Legacy ! They are not B teams they are C !!! These teams are filled with kids who got cut or cant even make there town travel teams ...I hear how much of a bargain you get ,,,well you get what you pay for ..Legacy has a couple of talented kids that keeps them competitive with the big boys ..KNIGHTS ?? COME ON ..they have kids that would get hurt against LAXACHUSETTS/ANNAPOLIS ETC...does anybody mention coaching??? exspress/igloo/91/legacy have real coaches...structure ,,thats what you pay for ,,the rest are for fun,,dont call it club ,,everyone who showed up made team ..

Hard to say that legacy can compete with those teams when they seem to avoid them every year. Looking at their tournaments this year it looks like they are avoiding them again. At the Columbus Day invitational legacy was beat soundly by 91 and BBL. They barely beat igloos B team. Like I said, they have a nice program. But they just aren’t competitive with the top 3 in this age group

I agree, not to pile on Legacy. I think the comments should remain civil. They are not on the level of those top 3. That being said. It is an interesting blend of the next 5 to 6 clubs. If i write a comment on those clubs, please top 3 parents do not be insulted for any reason lol. Legacy, S2S, Mooselax, outlaws, Empire, GC, Then maybe a next level below them of knights, hitmen, Some of the top 3 B teams might fit in there somewhere, not sure where the newer long island lc team would fit. but i wouldn't really talk about town teams who use club players when comparing because they are overlapping players. and it would change the dynamic when you compare. IE- If RVC goes in a tournament that does not have the top 3 club teams in it, and they have all of their core players who play club, they of course are going to be at the top and be very competitive with any of the other clubs if not beat them all. so i am not talking about town teams unless they exclusively exclude the kids who play club for example GC.

If there are any "BIG BOYS" then you need to start checking birth certificates. In addition, I can assure you there are members of those teams you so easily criticize, that do in fact have the ability to play on some of these other teams. But that's not the point. As ADULTS, we make decisions for our children that are in their best interest. That could be paying $4K for an intensive travel experience. Or paying $2k for a more laid back approach. One is not right and the other wrong. Breaking away from the same old topic...these kids are still young. The landscape will change with these teams over next couple years when they begin playing middle school ball and beyond.

A couple of teams that may surprise some folks this year -- Long Island Lacrosse Club and Mooselax. Not a part of either organization but have seen them play against some "better" squads and perform very well, if not win. LILC composed mostly of Port Washington kids, Moose with Northport, Greenlawn/Harborfields kids. Both areas manufacture solid HS lacrosse teams.

The programs that have been around for 8+ years now will continue to do well - parents/players want tp play with the biggest name programs but the new programs are substantially cheaper so they can draw talented players at thi particular grad year. Will be interesting to see. More programs, the better it is for all of us.

its also worth noting that the top three many times stay the top three because over the years, they have marketed themselves well and they pick off a few kids each year from the other teams, that is what keeps them up at the top and sometimes holds some of the others back.

Hilarious. Teams are changing and morphing every year. Everyone will see how Legacy does this year in 2026. Yeah, I know.. they beat everyone, blah blah blah.. end this now, and revisit it in June. Forget last year. Mooselax, LILC, S2S, Outlaws, Roar.. whoever they play, just let it play out.. Legacy likely won’t be better than all those teams.. but that’s why they play the games!
