Point being it wasn't them or their recruiting.... IT WAS HIS HARD WORK Ignorant comment. Every kid that commits this early is because of their TALENT and HARD WORK - whatever club they play for. Show me any club that gets a kid recruited that is not talented and is a hard worker. Exactly. Point being also that Sweetlax does nothing to develop younger players. What's the big poo about them anyway? Why bother? What's the attraction over a club sponsored by joes tire shop? Sweetlax is mostly a brand of elite players, either committed or soon to be. They are a national team playing in the most elite tournaments. It is what is needed to compete against the best like fca and 3d. The director is a great guy, all about the kids. Playing g sweetlax gives these special kids the exposure they want at a reasonable price.

Typical response from a dad whose kid was cut and an axe to grind. Spend more time getting your kid to improve and less time throwing crap against the wall on a message board and maybe things will work out better for him.

A real test for these superstars would be to put them on a mediocre club team and see if they can elevate a team to an elite level. Then I'll be impressed. But a club of committed or near-committed kids beating up on teams full of uncommitted kids? Not impressive.

You know you're doing things right when you have a couple of idiots throwing darts at you. Just because your kid is not an elite player doesn't mean you have to be so envious of others. It's not that important.

College coaches expect the committed kids to continue to strive and play in top tournaments where they will be challenged.

EARLY RECRUITS BY CLUB TALLY:
Dukes - 9 SweetLax - 6 Long Island Express - 5 Madlax - 3 Crabs - 3 Prime Time - 2 Apex - 2 91 - 2 FCA - 2 WCS - 2 NHT - 2 LB3 - 1 3d - 1 VLC - 1 Mustangs - 1
For the past 4/5 years people have been saying how great the 91 extreme team was/is just like we are now continually hearing about the Crush, The Honey Badgers and the Bandits. Truth is; having a winning seasonal record and winning games at these tournaments means nothing. The Dukes and Sweetlax lose to 91 Extreme all the time yet more 2018 kids have verbally committed from Sweetlax and the Dukes (15 total) than 91 (2 total)
and yeah yeah, there are kids who already are "secretly" committed to the Ivy's and can't report it yet but every clubs has those kids so that just evens out.
Better to play on a winning team and get lost in the crowd or play on a club where each kid is being developed as a player?

So the kids are really just mercenaries. Better for the individual not the team. Sometimes the best players don't make the best team.

I wouldn't be counting them out yet. Have not stepped on HS field yet. I guarantee you 12 months from now they will be leading the pack. Couple of 91 guys jumped to Express post commit as well.

All 2018 kids have not stepped on a HS Field so what's your point? All clubs are even with regards to that Also, The one 2018 cross-over you are referring too was an Express kid his whole travel club career outside of the one year at 91. Credit belongs to Express as does the 2017 UVA Attackman.

I agree- by summer time and 10th gr Fall you will see a good number of commits from highly respected schools. There are plenty of excellent kids that are debating offers or waiting for better schools. Sometimes it's wiser not to jump and for others it would be foolish not too. Each family knows what's on the table now and what may be on the table in the near future. 91 will be just fine.

More then a few 2018's have stepped on a HS field already, with the exception of Cham and St A's that obviously could not happen because they were not in the school yet, many 2018's played JV and at least 2 (Syosset) played varsity as 8th graders with one already committed to Mich, and as far as the cross over player, he played a year and a half with 91 having switched in the middle of the season, and he committed before he was back on the field for Express, I am sure he went to prospect days and other things as well, both 91 and Express deserve some of the credit but most of the credit belongs to the kid himself for all his hard work that made him an attractive recruitable player

Just a question here? How many Dukes players were 2017's last year? 5? 6? Might have something to do with why they have 9 recruits, yet their players aren't good enough to beat 91. Who has far less. Is there another explanation for this?

Yes, the kid is the reason, but he trained under MC for years and that "development" was under Express. All he did was play for a 91 team for 1 1/2 yrs, they didn't develop any part of his game. ALL the credit goes to Express.

you might be suffering from a case of premature egacpostingulation - lets see where Extreme is after Duke and the Ivy's start announcing commits - you have 2 Hopkins and a Maryland announced already add 3 Duke and 3 Ivy's and you have the making of a nice recruiting group - and don't think for a minute that teams get kids recruited, they put you in the correct position to get recruited, the kids get themselves recruited.

Isn't there a difference in judging a great team with kids that have been together since when, 3rd-4th grade?, versus clubs that just collect DI-caliber athletes from a very large geographic area starting when, Summer after 8th grade?
No criticism of Sweetlax or Dukes here. Just seems like a completely different animal versus a team that first taught a kid his first split dodge.

They are a flavor of the day and the "cool" club now for ego maniac fathers but hubris will make them an after thought in 5 years when the next "cool" flavor of the day club comes along.

It will be very interesting to see how many of the early commits have the grades and SATs/ACTs to actually gain admission to these schools.
It is hard to predict in 8th grade how a kid is going to fare in AP Physics or on an SAT, some kids can't do it even though they can get As in non-honors classes. I personally know 3 kids who had GPAs at private schools in the 4.0-3.75 range who were unable to crack a 23 on the ACT. I hope it works out well for everyone, but I won't be surprised to see some of these kids make changes later in HS.

So says another very jealous affiliate of another club who is so so disappointed he can't get his kids recruited. LOL! On the money. Sweetlax doesn't develop kids, but they do have a good knack for recruiting kids from other programs and presenting them as their own. They are a flavor of the day and the "cool" club now for ego maniac fathers but hubris will make them an after thought in 5 years when the next "cool" flavor of the day club comes along.

I tend to agree. Who cares about Dukes, they don't make the kids they just had a strangle hold in the Philly area years ago. Their not even a team. Just a group of the areas top players who "get together" for tournaments. There is nothing "team" about the Dukes. They just claimed to have their 39th 2015 kid commit. 39?? How many kids do they have....oh yeah 50. I respect the 91's of the world, the Tomohawks, Express, etc that take kids and make some changes as the years go by and teach and develop the kids to play as a team and still have huge successes in getting kids recruited. Its such a joke. Let's take the best of the best and claim their ours. The jig is over. Too many good coaches and true teams in Philly that are taking a bite out of them. Egomaniacs taking credit for all these kids that someone else developed.

Can't give 91 credit for getting him into Duke but give them credit for Caputo wanting his kid to play with them Nope. The real reason his kid plays for 91 is because his best friend is one of the coaches and the familes are close His kid would be able to stay with that family, travel with them etc... If Mr C would not be able to because of Duke or other events. Nothing to do with one travel club being better than another.

Can't give 91 credit for getting him into Duke but give them credit for Caputo wanting his kid to play with them no travel team deserves "credit" for kids being recruited - the kids deserve the credit. As far as having a kid listed as a recruited player on a club team it is no different then the Hofstra or Adelphi coaches sons teams listing them as recruited players - it is just a list of players that play for a team that are going to colleges to play. no need to argue every single post on this site, particularly when it is NOT subjective. It is a list
