We have been there and done that and now have friends who are looking at hanging up the stick because the only schools offering cash are allowing "C" students in so parents are finally wising up and NOT trading down on an education their daughter deserves.

That can not be true, because not all bubble players will be at the fall tournaments. Where do you get your information?

Was your[/] name attached to the person's [i]opinion? If you are sensitive to being called a moron then you need to stay off this site. People are entitled to their opinion. We all have to deal with it including me, who has been called much, much worse. Where I am at a loss is the context of the poster calling you a moron is based on.

Question for anyone who has already attended President's Cup:
What is your opinion of this showcase? Did you think it was worth the time/money to have gone? Did you daugther get alot of looks from coaches?
Thank you! Will be lots of coaches there, exposure depends on which team you are on and who you are playing. Matchups between top teams at the 2017 age group will draw the most attention (2017 pool #14 is the one to be in). If you were unfortunate enough to get a Friday game, D1 coaches won't be there to watch. IMO, it's the best recruiting tourney of the fall (Rivalry, Prime-time and Mid-Atlantic are the others). Some girls do not make the trip for financial or other reason. Some of the summer showcases are better.

Still its a great place to see coaches in their off season. Just be sure to add this $5,000 or so to your running tally of how much you are spending to get that partial scholarship. For some this will be their 3rd or 4th plane ride of the year

They use what I call the "dummy card" my daughter was an average B-/C student a few years ago met the minimum requirements for the NCAA. Then had to take what was called a placement test for her school. With all the academic services in place for her in college and the mandatory study hall I'm proud to say my "C" student is now a deans list student so don't give up on a school bc of academics. Sometimes a student needs support services they don't get in high school and there are schools out there willing to take a chance on them.

Some top D1 will take them and these "C" students when forced into study hall become B+ students. My daughter now a senior received cash and was a "C" student so your completely misinformed.

Maybe it should have been worded as very poor academic schools. LIU Post takes kids as long as they have a pulse. It's pretty hard to get just 800 850 on the SAT. So if you kid did well in HS don't trade down just to get a few bucks to play.

Also at what point and who do you inform that your child needs academic help? Thank you ( my childs high school is small and offers very limited resources even with a 504 plan)

My daughter had the 504 and her college did much more for her in her four years there then her high school or elementary school ever did. And yes she was on an athletic scholarship and I will say it wasn't minimal. Don't give up on a dream bc you feel your child academically can't get in. We had an orthopedic tell us years ago that reach schools should not be overlooked and sometimes we need to use our skills to get in and our academics will be secondary. My daughter is heading off to med school next year and would have never gotten into the college she went to initially had it not been for lacrosse.

that's why they are waiting on posting the rosters? To prevent kids from switching clubs? most have had to put a deposit down elsewhere at this point as it is.

Soon. Sorry to say that there are going to be a lot of disappointed 2019 girls. Between the infusion of new kids and the decision to keep the rosters at a 22 min 24 player max, there will be a 5 – 7 kid drop from each team.

after fall tournaments - you think CR wants to hear in person everyone [lacrosse] where they were placed After the fall tournaments as sign ups for those already happened and would be awkward to be playing on a team you were moved off of. Do you really think CR cares about your bitching. 2019 will be interesting as they had 27 last year , will have 4 or so new kids so 7 will get moved off to get to 24. If you want to stay on that team you may want to move into Smithtown and live on the East side . Watch what happens the best kids from 2nd team will get jumped by connections and not get moved to top team. The good news is the 2nd team will get better and with some new talent may even beat the top team, the crazy parents of some kids on Carros team think their kids are the best players when in fact not that great and eventually their mouths will get them in trouble.
