Email her her, most times families are on their own. Only get together at games. Have fun! Really? Every team I've ever been associated with from soccer to basketball to lacrosse reserves a block of rooms for the team. I have a relative whose daughters played YJ and he told me, when my daughter was considering joining YJ, that he'd see me at the tournaments since they all stayed in the same hotel.

It's every man for themself. You may see the team and coaches at games but there is no real planning. my daughter plays. i know what i am talking about.

As some of my daughters friends start packing up for their YJ's summers, can someone tell me what the expected "all in" cost one year of yellow jackets should be budgeted for? and total YJ career? You would be surprised how many people UNDER and OVERSTATE the costs. I'm confused!
Trying to figure out what it would cost my daughter from start to finish w YJ and if there is no BIG scholarship at the end of the rainbow was it worth the finacial risk.
Thanks so much.

Thanks so much. If the only reason you are playing yellow jackets is for the BIG scholarship I would suggest you stop playing, stay home and have her study. We have two girls going through the program now who love to play and enjoy being with teammates, The easiest BIG scholarship is academic!

depends on what team your daughter is on. Some teams get more tournament opportunities than others which would make those teams more expensive.

The website says that it is $600 for the year plus tournament costs. The average cost for each tournament is $125. So it would be at least another $500 probably. There is also a $50 tryout fee and every year you need to try out. Plus there are travel and hotel costs. It is a lot, but the total cost seems comparable to other clubs.

Tournament costs this year = $900 + Hotels + Food + Gas and whatever else you spend money on. Figure $2500 to $3000 for summer season.

Trying to figure out what it would cost my daughter from start to finish w YJ and if there is no BIG scholarship at the end of the rainbow was it worth the finacial risk. It shouldn't be a risk reward decision. First off, your daughters Talent and work ethic will have more to do with her success than which club you choose. If you can sit back and truly evaluate her abilities and you want her to play on an elite level have her try out for YJ's and see where she lands. If you are very concerned with cost, there are other organizations that are less expensive than YJ's,Top Gun.Express and 91. The teams most likely will not have elite players, but it may be a good place to start to see if your daughter likes to play and travel and get an idea of the talent that she will be playing with and against. Never bargain for a scholorship, the value of the experience is the most important thing. If that is worth the $1500 plus dollars than go for it!

I'm not so sure the other programs are really that much less expensive. This site does list all the costs of various programs so you can do a comparison.
My two cents is a program that stays local is going to cost less, like Beach Bums. I think they only do one tournament that requires tolls and hotels. The trade-off being less exposure.

Questions : did the Yellow Jackets 2015 Green really lose their last game on Sunday by a score of 21-1? Did the 2015 Yellow Jackets Red really win their last game on Sunday by a score of 11-0? (Both games were 1:00pm on Sunday.) Exactly what is the issue with the "Looneys Lacrosse Club" - the name of the team that ran up the score to 21 goals?

Congrats to the YJ 2015 blue for winning the championship at lax inception. Not sure how the 2014 team did as I didn't stick around for that game.
Wasn't a huge fan of playing away from the main site on a sod farm, but fields were ok and the tournament was generally well run. Nice t-shirts for the championship prize.

I am sure your viewing of the bracket results (not playoff results) is way more reliable information then the eye witneesess that were there and posted the results. If it is that important to you, call the folks at lax inception and confirm the winners. Then you can congratulate the 2014 and 2015 blue teams for their win.

Or both.

If goals-against was the first tie-breaker, clearly the Yellow Jackets 2014 and 2015 programs were bracket winners. Can you share the playoff game competition details and results?

Since I am just a fan of the truth and not involved the truth is that YJ 2015 Blue actually won the tie breaker by a 9 point margin and went on to beat two T3 teams to win the championship. That comes directly from the score sheet under the tent.

YES So what happened to the whole story about the red and green teams being "equal" Does not seem that way now. the red team has more tournaments and are placed in higher brackets. The red team has 2 goalies, green has none, cough cough I mean one. The green team was screwed this year, everyone knows it. I am sure top gun will see a lot of those girls this year. Oh, but the organizer care! ha! ha! They make all teams competative. If your planning on coming to yellow jackets, run the other way.

Fans of the YJs should realize that while their teams are very strong (probably the strongest overall program in the country), they are not the only "game in town", and sometimes, they do in fact lose. It depends on the year, as it does with most programs. Also, if you are not on their "A" team, you are undeniably throwing your money down the drain.
Haters of the YJs should realize that the YJs play an aggressive style and they do not hide from that fact. They make no excuses and have been extremely successful with that policy. Just look at their alumni; it is incredible. If you don't like it, don't blame them. Blame the referees who are not kicking the players out of games.

So tell me why, from your perspective not being on "A" is throwing money down the drain?

You can't make statements like "If you"re not on the "A" team, you are undeniably throwing your money away". Not every kid is a stud lax player. Some are real god, but not great!I know pleny of people who have kids on the Gold and Green teams who are happy. They happen to be realistic about their kids abilities and are happy they are playing with and against kids at their level!

I have never seen so many people dislike one organization. Or have such turmoil. Something is wrong and I am beginning to believe that there is an internal problems with the Yellow Jackets. There seems to be alot of favoritism and a win at all cost. They lost site of what they started out and the other clubs are doing now and that is teaching the game of Lacrosse and making our girls the best athletes they can be.

They lost site of what they started out and the other clubs are doing now and that is teaching the game of Lacrosse and making our girls the best athletes they can be. To be fair, there is not as much "turmoil" as one might like to believe. Within girls lacrosse, the Yellow Jackets are the well established and well known organization with a strong performance history from Long Island. Perhaps five years back, the Liberty organization was probably the most noteworthy challenger. Over time, the Liberty's place seems to have been overtaken by the Top Guns - although one can have that argument. More and more challengers are appearing on Long Island in part due to the interest in the sport on the girls side, but also due to the sheer economics involved. The truth is that both Carol and Tracy really do have the best interests of their players at the core of the organization's philosophy. In part, their being the big dog for so long on Long Island has created an organization that is walking around with the target on its back - a bit harder edged than the up-and-coming groups. That is the combination of game pressures, business pressures, and yes, the level of competition. Every team that plays the Yellow Jackets are typically ready to give 110% efforts which means that the Yellow Jackets, particularly at the upper levels, have little room for error. Overall, BOTC Industries believes that all three of these programs are at different evolutionary points. As a result, the cultures of all three organizations are different because their experience on the Long Island lacrosse scene and within the region are very different.

We love the yellow jackets, the only problem is coaches should not coach their daughters team! Much favoritism there, playing her and friends even when they are not that great! On my daughters team, the coaches daughter belongs on the lower team , but she is not because the dad is a coach .

I think that the YJ parents who yell nasty and obnoxious things at tryouts and on the game sidelines, encourage dirty play and brag incessantly about the greatness of their teams and players, are poor ambassadors for the club. If the YJ want to improve their reputation, perhaps they should encourage respect and behavior that honors the game. While this is not reflective of all the YJ parents of course (or just the YJ for that matter), there are quite a few YJ parents (and players) who help foster this reputation. If you're good, you're good. Let the kids play a fair game, enjoy the competition and be a class act.

If you're good, you're good. Let the kids play a fair game, enjoy the competition and be a class act. I am a YJ parent and some of your points are valid. What you need to take into account is there are about 600 YJ girls playing. That is roughly 1200 parents! Yes, with that many people, some will be jerks! I myself have rolled my eyes a few times, but most of the people are great! They care about the other kids and parents. The kids get treated with respect from their coaches and have fun. The kids themselves are even better! An unbelievable amount of honor students! You can tell by the schools these kids are attending. I think everyone needs to relax with the blanket statements about any club! Every team within the clubs have a different coach and dynamic anyway. Whether you like the style of coaching or not, you can't argue with the success of the kids that came from the Yellow Jackets! The kids not only have success on the club level but look at how great these kids are doing in college . (even the Northwestern girls!). At the High School level, look at the 3 LI champions, GC, Northport and Mt. Sinai are chock full of YJ's.Obvously they are doing something right. There is no need to diminish the accomplishments and success of the program or the girls just because you play somewhere else. That goes both ways! I am sure there are many people who are happy at other clubs and that is great! For people looking to get into summer travel, you should try out for a couple of teams. See where your kid lands and where they are comfortable. Ask about those specific coaches and kids and then make your decision. All the Venom and slander only carries over to the field and it makes for a real negative enviroment that the kids should not be exposed to. Try to enjoy your summer!
