Yes, you are right their is only one original player from 4th grade but their are a lot of ex-extreme kids playing on other teams that are the stars of their team. Not easy playing in SL system, each player has very limited role. Players move on to where they can develop more as a lacrosse player. Do not believe young players benefit from a youth program that is run like a division one program. that's the way SL runs it and has been running the program like that since fourth grade Some of his players will benefit the ones that have more of a role but a lot would be better off on a different team But Parents are nuts they want to be on a winning team at all cost. It's always the parents. They are so conditioned and focused on winning every game they have lost sight of what this travel lax thing is all about. It's about developing as a complete player. That will never happen to the level it should, if a kid is put in a box and limited to a specific role. Have to say, it does work for the team though.

My boy played on an Express A team this year and even though he struggled for minutes at times, the lax development was phenomenal! the playing time is always an issue on A teams.

But isn't that the goal? To be able to use what is learned during practice during a game. We had play time issues with Express, so we left. Best thing I DID FOR MY SON. After all isn't it about where your kid will be happy? I know it is not sitting on the bench after driving to some tournament off LI.

We are looking at moving to a new team this year for 2017. Not happy with current team and feeding system. Does anyone know the other clubs pricing. Just trying to take that into account when we look at what they have to offer. Any info would be great. I hear, LE-$2100 91-1600, Jester-1600, TB-1200, fl$-2500...these are apprx numbers we hear..

Think more programs moving that direction. Would rather know what all in cost is early.

The problem is- even though you may belong to the same club- each team is different. Under the same club, one team may be just a Spring - Summer team and in the same age group another team from the same club may be a year round team. Practices also vary in number of practices a week and length of practices. The areas the teams practice may be different as well, as it depends a lot on the coaches and where a lot of the team is from. It's smart to be a good consumer and definitely do your research, but bottom line- once you know which team your child is on, then research the coach and find out where, how much they practice and expectations of commitment. I've heard of way too many dedicated kids ending up with teammates that didn't have lax as a priority over another sport or team. That is fine if your kid is similar, and wants to continue playing two clubs or sports at once, but not great for the kids looking to go hard each week, for more than just an hour for a few weeks.

Great point. The 2018 B team was loaded with talent but they never practiced until May and basically under achieved every week. Just depends on who coaches each team. If they practiced all winter they would have been a very good team.

So 2000k for uniforms and practices! Correct $2400 I think The majority of fl$ players are from affluent areas. Their parents don't care that it's way overpriced for what is provided. I would imagine that the results of their 2020 and younger teams would bother them though.

They just are not at the top level. Team doesn't have to be. As long as you play the best competition. Colleges are not recruiting teams, recruiting individual players. As long as your son can perform well on an individual basis against the best, that's all that matters. FYI, had a meeting with top ACC coach who said "the tournament thing is rapidly becoming a thing of the past". Its all about showcases and "the schools own prospect camp". Not my words, his!

Anyone else think showcases are difficult for attack? Seems the ones my kid went to favored middies who tried to run in and shoot, the attack only got a ball if they got a gb when the middies lost it.

Your 100% right, but these coaches want to see those middies feed and be a team player. Trust me they can see through those kids who want to be ball hogs!

Definitely noticed that at an elite camp this Summer. My daughter played attack and virtually never got the ball...unless the coaches actually screamed her name as being wide open on mulitple occasions. But I think that actually makes the middies look bad as well... especially if they miss shots when other kids are wide open.

Express is having tryouts in August. They will give offers and want parents to lock in with a payment before Labor Day. If you are not on their top team in a given grade, you should really consider trying to get on another groups top team that plays in A brackets. The Express 2019 and 2020 B teams really struggled this year. You are spending all that money to be on a team that is solely set up for them to make money. The B teams hardly practice and could not win many games against A teams from other groups.

They will beat Terps next year and titanium is right on their [lacrosse] as well. There are already certain positions being dominated by legacy kids. Good luck, you will need it!

Crush, Terps, Legacy A, True Blue A, 91 Titanium are all clearly better. They struggled in A brackets, so they were put in the B bracket in Massachusetts.

Express, barracudas 2016, once their best team fell apart. Express is not what it once was. Barely have any decent teams. There best is probably 2020 Terps but they can never win against crush so they won't be winning major tournaments. 91 is now the premier club building the best teams at the younger ages. Legacy, igloo good too

They lost in any real A Tournament they played in, losing to other A teams (besides Crush) from off the Island (Crabfest for example), They only won in b bracket tournaments. Express terps still better than 91 titanium and Legacy Taz, but that gap will close. They may be in 2nd place ON LI for now, but that is really not good enough for a club charging the amt of money they do, and bragging about winning all the time. Many better teams than them off LI. That early tryout date will backfire because people are not going to want to lay out a big down payment for a mediocre club without exploring other options first!
