Not sure which Smithtown East poster put themselves above Bay Shore. SE has Brentwood no quality Points and then West. BS has HHH then WM. I think the Brentwood game leaves East behind Bay Shore.

looking at the Suffolk roster this looks to be more of an all star game than a showcase. Why would college coaches come if everyone is committed

And based on the 2015 roster, it's heavily weighted with YJ players. Does anyone know of 2017 and 2017 Nassau invites went out?

Sachem N beats North Bab and Longwood loses to Haypauge, so they will flip spots sachem north gets #11 and Longwood gets #12..

Bayshore beats Ward Melville and moves up 2 spots because Sachem East also loses to Northport . so Bayshore # 7, Ward Melville #8 and Sachem East #9 ... Everybody else stands.

I'm not really sure if this what you're looking for, but if you go to SectionXI and look under sports placements you will see the populations of the school districts. Elsewhere on that site are the class breakdowns.

It looks like a lot of fire-power. ONE defender. Okay, two, but one is listed as injured so presumably won't be taking the field. Which offensive powerhouse is going to defend the goal?

Dz MC game vs WI have any impact on seeding? MC seems to be peaking at the right time and they have a solid young team. Could be a sleeper in playoffs.

99% of the girls listed on the 2015 roster are already commited.. Why would any college coach even make the effort come to watch?? maybe to verify there offer but that seems like a stretch

But when Hauppauge beats Longwood tonight won't Hauppauge move up to #3 in standings?

Last Friday, MC (#4 at the time) beat North Babylon... They moved ahead of Hauppauge as a result... Hauppauge will get more points for beating Longwood than MC did for beating NBab...

Last girls lax game I watched, Middies played defense about half the game... The team should be able to muddle through...

North Bab was 2-10 at time of game last week and MC got 3+ points for that win...

Four period OT affair with WI pulling out the victory after illegal stick took away what would have been game winning goal at end of regulation for Hauppauge. (What a set of Lax Balls on those officials for calling that!!!)

Hey if the coach asks for a stick check, and the stick is illegal, what is the ref to do. He has to call off the goal.

Bottom line is the stick was illegal....could have been for most of the game.

There are thirteen teams in the playoffs for Division 1. Go onto Section XI and look at the brackets. First three teams have a bye.

NOT... I called Section XI and they told me 12 teams, 4 get bye.

Hauppauge jumps ahead of Mid Country, Sachem E passes Ward Melville, Sachem N passes Longwood... could change again tomorrow with Bayshore beating Ward Melville and Northport beating Sachem E

How would that work? There are ten spots in round 1. Once those games are played, if you are correct, then that would make nine teams for the second round. Who would the 9th team play?

I'll type slowly for you. Go here - www.sectionxi.org - and click on "brackets" at the top, then select Girls Lacrosse from the drop down menu. Division I shows how it will work if there are 13 playoff teams. If there are only 12 teams, as some posters have stated, there is no A13 team and A4 slides forward to the next round (getting the 4th bye). For those who still don't understand, wait a couple more days and it will all be set.

With all the talk of how many teams make the bracket I'm surprised there has been no contact by Back of the Cage to clarify. The D1 coaches I spoke with all think its 13 yet some, who claim to have contacted Section XI, say it's 12. Yet the Section XI website has a 13 team bracket.

I guess we wait until later in the week when the bracket is posted. But why the mystery?

Anyone remember the Syracuse/Florida semi-final game at SUNY Stony Brook a couple of years back? Stick check cost Florida the game--in OT.

It really won't affect anything once the seeding is set except that the #13 team doesn't make the playoffs. It just takes them out of the equation. It saves the #4 seed from having to play/beat the #13 seed. The #4 will play the winner of the #5 v #12 game on Monday.

The problem/issue was the way the referee checked the players stick. A previous poster stated that ANY girls stick would have been illegal the way this referee checked it. I was not an immediate decision by this referee. He handled the stick and the ball for quite awhile before making his decision to take away a goal.
