Committing to a college and then swagging out in your future college shorts and sweatshirts amongst your club or high school teammates, and Twittering about "your team" that you won't be on campus to play on for years is pathetic. I'd whoop my boy back into shape pretty good for trying that one.

Train hard, compete hard, be a good teammate and be a good kid off the field. Oh, and by the way, those are the four things that will make you stand out to the college coaches who recruited you when you arrive. When you arrive, everyone WAS a good recruit, and that won't ever matter for anything ever again.

Stop being such a [lacrosse]. You're from New [lacrosse]. Start acting like it.

Talk about an overinflated know it all. Did you learn any reading comprehension at your PAC 10 school or were you just the ultimate jock?

Read the OP again: it asked if the 2017's in general (not specifically the committed ones) are feeling any pressure as a result of the recent commits in the 2017 class.

Normally these issues would have been encountered in the upper classman years. Being that slots are now going earlier; does then the non committed, high caliber 2017 player feel any added pressures to perform better in order to secure their position at the school(s) of their dreams?

Accurate comments please.

That's ridiculous he was the MVP of most high profile tournaments that he played with the Turtles including DICKS. He got noticed for his amazing skill while playing for the Turtles.

Why are you so angry Turtle daddy? Truth is, he was showing up the less skilled players, so he went where he would be appreciated. Stop trying to take credit for Ian, he's gone, worry about the rest of your team!

The 91 Cult needs to insert themselves whenever possible. They are still the little brother to the Express Brand. They have a couple of ex Turtles for their “older team”. They hang their hats on that for now. They are hoping that Extreme stays together (no shot, a bunch of them are heading to Chammy) and a 2020 team that hasn’t reached puberty yet. They need to get SOMEONE in a DI program to stay somewhat credible…

True
Two players who left the turtles became mvps of high profile showcases.
It cannot be discredited the advantages they gained while playing for such a high caliber team. The training they underwent while there ensured that their skills would develop and ultimately be noticed by D1schools as it is for players still with the turtles. All will eventually find their appropriate D 1 slots.

Why wouldn't Extreme stay together if some go to Chaminade, there are kids that play for Chaminade and play for 91. As for the other team, I would say for a team that has not reached puberty yet- they do pretty well for themselves, especially playing up against some kids already in puberty.

Just think it's funny how Turtle parents always have to interject themselves with a pat on the back! Who cares if kid used to play for the Turtles! Fact is he left because he wasn't happy there. He was great before he was on that team and will continue to excel after. The post was stating that he was one of the only two freshman on the top 100 list. Maybe you should start a new thread abut the acompishments of former Turtles players, that way you can remind peple any time a former player gets an award that he used to play for you!

Actually what is funny is that he and the other former turtle are on a team that wont ever face the turtles. Maybe he just wanted to stand out on his own. BTW how many 91 practices did the kid make since varsity kicked in? Come on...you know the answer.

Yea yea. That's right. Let's all play "fair". Because that's what all the colleges coaches want. They're dying for 17 yr old freshman and 21 yr old srs. Because they can really really compete against 22,23,24 yr olds and yes some 25 year olds!!! Yup.

Thats great if its true. Why is it that all the "best high profile" players are "waiting" for Ivy's and Duke? could it be a case of that your not on radar strong enough yet? That ok you know. I guess schools like Penn, UNC, Bucknell, Hopkins and UVA are NOT high level academics thats why 2017's are committed to those schools so early. lol

Maybe he & his family, or other "best high profile" players & their families, are just not ready to make that decision yet. Maybe (just maybe) they don't feel the pressure to be the "first to commit". Maybe they are in talks with many schools & maybe he is "not on radar strong enough yet". I don't know, you don't know & the next poster to put their "honest opinion" on here doesn't know either. There are many scenarios going on for many very talented kids. For those that have given their verbal and are secure in that decision, Congratulation! For those that are in "talks" with many schools and are waiting, good for you and good luck and finally, for those that are not high on coaches radar yet, good luck this season and up coming summer (& oh, yeah, the next two years) IDK why there is so much animosity on here. Good luck boys!

Do most of you actually realize these commitments mean very little. Yes these 9th grade students most who are 15 and younger have three more years left to play lacrosse or decide that today's dream college is tomorrow's after thought. These children really have limited ability to realize what this decision means for their future. Until the financial paperwork is submitted and accepted be the university both sides could opt out. There is way too much time for these children to mature , decide perhaps they don't want to play, god forbid get hurt, fail classes the variables are many. If any of you think that any commitment you get now is concrete you are naive. When the perceived better player gets an offer your child can be bumped. This is not speculation but reality. With that said I hope everyone gets the opportunity their offered but until that child is enrolled anything can happen.

Spoken like a mom/dad who's kid ISNT committed or even close. Also, you are out of touch on what these commitments mean and the many more to come by this summer.

You do realize you are absolutely wrong! No University would rescind on a verbal (without proper justification) Their reputation wouldn't allow it. That is not my opinion, it is a fact. Nothing naïve about that. Can a child (& I believe at 15 they are children also) get hurt, decide not to play, absolutely but a coach would not destroy his reputation over a partial scholarship. However, we have heard of students opting out of their end of a verbal agreement, in favor of a better school. Sorry to burst you "Debbie Downer" bubble but, that's the reality.

what world are you living in... they do have the right to rescind the offer. you say they wont, okay believe what you want. with this push for early commits lets see how many get rescinded in the next 3/4 years.

Some people and it seems too many lacrosse parents live in a fantasy world. To think a college would not rescind a verbal commitment is insane. Does anyone realize a verbal commitment is a gentlemens agreement between the coach and player. The university itself cannot be held accountable. Would it be bad form for a coach to rescind the offer absolutely. But, it happens on a pretty regular basis in the NCAA for baseball, football , hockey and basketball. There are many reasons a verbal can get rescinded. Once they put it in writing outstanding but there is a reason for all these verbal commitments. The big business NCAA should once again review policy of coaches talking to players not yet completed their sophomore year. You want a true binding commitment get the letter of intent. Good luck to all 2017 players. Hopefully many of them go on to pursue whatever sport or education they can. I have had enough with Long Island lacrosse parents touting their children in middle school as can't miss d1 lacrosse players. Lacrosse parents are by far the most vocal loud parents of all the sports.

Of course there is a legal right to rescind an offer. But looking back at Bucknell's early commitments over the past seven years, I don't think there was one case where an offer was rescinded - except where the athlete's academics went completely downhill. I imagine many good academic colleges can say something similar.

once more, I think that you can imagine that there may be justification for the school yanking their deal. it is not simply so because you post it. academic issues, legal, behavioral, etc. I realize that on these threads, nobody really backs claims with factual evidence, but do consider that the coach IS the university or school. NO college worth their salt would fail to support the coaches decision in offering a deal. This Harvard kid may have not exactly made public the reason for his release. Why would you not even consider this? Did you read this on an anonymous blog board? I guess that would make it so.

With that said I hope everyone gets the opportunity their offered but until that child is enrolled anything can happen.

You do hopefully realize how petty and absolutely jealous you sound.
Is the above statement something you've had to tell you uncommitted child as he cries himself to sleep for not living up to your expectations? You must rain down on every achievement your kid has made....."hey dad; I made varsity".....that means so little now go do your homework. "Dad; I'm going to be valedictorian and Stanford is giving me a full academic scholarship". Big deal; show me a paycheck with 7 digits to start.

What a wet blanket you are Debbie Downer Dad!!!

When Tambroni took over at Penn St., he rescinded all verbals and recruited his own kids. That's why one of the most important question is will that coach be there?

Other D1 Coaches were lined up to grab those Penn State Players. Once a top recruit it's easy to catch on.
