Lets make a deal. Bring your birth certificates to each and every game and tourney Get a life and quit crying. Said the dad of a MD/DC/VA cheater holdback reclassified player whose kid couldn't capitalize on the cheating game. (Don't worry; a 20 year old post grad is a very proud achievement!! ) Nope! No crying and am having a great life....especially since my long island 2017 is committed to the top 10 D1 lax school of his choice. Damn near whistling Dixie over here!! I oughtn't be in Maryland! Feel like I got away with some cheating.....but no; it was just good old strong island work ethic and balls to the wall play by an age appropriate player who is making his own way!!! No cheating needed here! Take notes MD/DC/VA.....your post grad farm system will never surpass the lax DNA our boys have. Maybe its NY that is age inappropriate. Who says the "correct" age for any grade should be defined by self-absorbed 'we are the center of everything' New Yorkers? Yes, that is it. Maybe you are correct. Yep. The right thing to do is to go to Kindergarten, then first, second, and third grade. Following this, we should all enter fourth grade, and having passed this, we do fifth, sixth, and seventh grade. After a wonderful summer, it would be smart to attend eighth grade. Upon completing the school year, our parents will sign us up at a private school to enter eighth grade again. You have shown us all how silly we are for realizing how ignorant New [lacrosse] people truly can be. Imagine, numeric progression being so confusing! Idiots! Takes one to know one. Pass the hanky!!

If a school is very bad at lacrosse and there is a standout player who wants to go somewhere for lacrosse but won't be recognized because he plays with bad people who make him look bad do you think he should transfer to a catholic school? Really would be helpful to answer. Don't know about others, but as a general rule Chaminade doesn't accept transfers.

I guess the 2017's that attend the two Long Island H.S. private power programs are all on the freshmen teams due to the amount of talent in numbers, so no public stats for those players yet. But great job thus far for the freshman doing well on their public schools Varsity programs!

Very True.
I know a few Freshman that seem to be off to a great start to the Varsity season that haven't given a verbal yet. I'm looking at all Fresman playing Varsity.

Yes, it can be frustrating as my child experienced that exact situation. Bad players raise the game of the good player. (Bad, good are your terms). The good players persevere in every single game. It makes them a leader. A warrior. And a faithful teammate, one that doesn't bail in difficult situations. They become feisty and tenacious and a better player for it. And they never, never give up. My child ended up at a top D1 school Andes a leader in his conference on several levels. Also, It was his travel team that got him noticed, not his school. Summer playing on great team was essential. Thank you. Finally, someone with wisdom!

You people are obsessed with being on the BEST team surrounded by the BEST players because you think your kid is the BEST! Get off your high horses. How about facing adversity! Stop riding the coat tails and take charge of the hand you were dealt. The previous poster couldn't have said it better. A great player Playing on a lower level team will and does rise above. He will become a leader And better player.

For attack its hard because you can pass it to someone and they get it turned over and then the defense is so bad that the opposing side has the ball most of the game. Yes it is good to play with bad people to become a leader but you can't be the one going through 3 defense-men and no one is doing anything to help you.

For all positions it's hard when kids are dropping balls and making wild passes. I would agree if there is a small difference, but when most of the team is not good, and a couple of kids are, they will have a tougher time really showing what they can do.

It HAS to be better to play with higher skilled players. You may cite a rare exception, but an EMO, for example, will NOT benefit young Johnny if 3 of the kids drop the ball. NO WAY, Jose'. Chasing ground balls all day may help your child at ground balls, but the game involves a bit more than that. As for character development, your point is taken. This will build cojones, but not the ENTIRE game or player. When plays go as planned, it is better

They mold them from day one Yep, take only really smart kids, create a homogenous false environment, and take credit for the success these kids would have had if they stayed in public school. Kids make the school, school has almost zero impact on the kids. Sorry that's the reality. Not like the school is taking C+ students and turning them into A students. Taking A students and making sure they stay A students, that's about it. Which the vast majority would have been had they stayed in public school.

That is the Chaminade way. The right way. All you people love to bash Chaminade and there great success with athletics and molding young adults. It is my fealing that all the people who bash Chaminade, cannot afford to send there son to the school. Maybe if you parents would have attended Chaminade, you would have had a better career and earned a greater salary.

Kids chose not to go to Chaminade because they don't want to be around snobs like you!

Always better to play with higher skilled players in any sport as long as you can compete. If you are the best out there all the time you aren't playing against the right kids. The character comes from playing with lesser players at time and what the better player does. Does that player help or does that player criticize and complain?
Chaminade is a great school. It's not the money it costs to go but the involvement of the parent whether that support come in the form of tutors or any other extra. Most private schools only take the good students and when they don't perform pit them on probation then get rid of them if they can't achieve. The same great student with involved parents will rise at public school. It's just a choice. I didn't send my son to catholic school because I went and hated it.

Olympic hopefuls, kids trying to make it to the NBA, NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball should play with less skilled players in order to improve their own skills. I guess the student who would like to attend Harvard or MIT should take remedial courses.

Especially public, where you may not have the luxury to send your child to private or catholic? So what? Sounds like you're a crybaby. Tell your son to work with what he's got. Then go play travel and show the colleges why they should want you!!

Pipe down there big guy, you used the passive voice in your third sentence! What is there to pipe down about? And what is with the big guy comment? My post was not meant to be passive or aggressive. It was to illustrate how absurd it is to think that you will improve at anything if you are not challenged. An athlete will not reach their potential by competing with or against weaker players. A student will not reach their potential if placed in a class with weaker students. Sorry if this offends you.

Public schools are exactly that- public. Nothing special about them and anyone and everyone goes there that want to go there. ANYONE! So my point is don't even bother with anyone comparing public with private. You're dealing with idiots if they think people pay $$ for a private education for sub pat education!!

I'm catholic, but you're really not going to try and defend the church's record on that subject? Are you? Honestly, given that record, I would never send my son to an all boys catholic school.
