Parents need to inform coaches if the have Special Needs children participating Saw a stick weilding incident over theweekend. Someone could get really hurt
I saw a 210 lb kid run over a 120 lb kid this week. Let the special needs kid play. you'll be OK.
Hi, I am also interested in this question. Where are these rules stated? Does not say anything about how to set teams on the PAL website. Or even in the new 2014 rules.
NCPAL Directors got the rules in a email last week. Contact your director or coach they will have it.
I know our director doesn't follow that rule and our neighboring town doesn't either. Its not monitored. Its left up to the directors. Good luck.
I wonder if the 4 day notice given by SCGL for the make up clinic next week and the finger printing disaster at the first clinic if all the coaches are going to meet the leagues requirements before next Sunday's game.

There are no requirements. The same nonsense every year. The instructors and officials that were there did not know current rules etc. Overcrowded and unstructured waste of time.

All these classes etc and you still have lunatics in the sidelines so really what is the purpose
I was forwarded an email that if coaches did not go to the make-up clinic they would not be allowed to coach. I wonder if other towns have as many coaches as we do that this is causing a lot problems.
If your PAL club dies what other options are there for a spring ? Just tournaments? I would love to break away from our town club team it's been hi jacked and it's not so fun anymore!

What town
It's all PALitics
I'm curious to know how it was hijacked because ours is a disaster too. Can you elaborate without naming names?

Not Nasser Suffolk. South shore new director who claims to be the biggest organization

The parents who are self proclaimed coaches/ directors/board members - that's how.

Well, I see one town (from way out east) broke away from their psycho daddy coach/board, and is playing in Nassau PAL and not in SCGL!

It is Nassau for us. Bad guy running our town. Who stops a 10 year old from playing lacrosee? I wont expose him till my kid is done. He is on Boards and affiliated with the Lizards. He has anger issues and has no business coaching and or directing youth sports.
Same thing is going on in Suffolk. I know SSC(Sachem) 6th grade north boys team has been hijacked by outsiders not in the district. They have recruited players from my son's 91 team & elsewhere (not neighboring towns) to play. Also have chronic PAL troublemaker from Center Moriches involved. Not a "town team" but will attempt to play in a town league and tourneys. SCPAL should intervene since this is against their own rules but they probably won't. What a joke!!
Oh the horror you must be subjected to. You mean your off-spring has to actually play with such lowly B/C players. Don't these kids know they are terrible and will never be any good. Why do they waste their time and more importantly- your time. Why even have a recreational league where kids can play a game to have some fun and play with their friends. It is very clear to me that kids who will never play in college or even high school for that matter, should never share a field with more athletic children. They may cause these superior beings to lose a full ride athletic scholarship down the road because they played with inferior competition. I mean if a kid can't shoot with both hands by 5th grade, why bother !
I totally agree with you. The problem is coaches and directors thinking those not so skilled kids are expendable. Our town does not distinguish the PAL from the club team it formed. They weed out the weak. Its sad. They are on power trips living in their glory days.

PAL also has many kids who don't want to be there but mom and dad are pushing it.
So sad. Now that there are all these travel and club teams everyone is ready to shelve PAL. How quickly everyone forgets where the travel kids first learned their love of the sport. And for a very small fee of like $100. Would you really pay $2200 so you child could "try" a sport and see if he likes it? Doubtful. PAL is a program based on volunteers and doing something for the greater good of the community. And I think these little 10/11/12 year old "elite" players should play with the less skilled kids. It's a good thing to do to keep a great program running and hopefully it makes them more grounded gentlemen with their egos in check. It's part of what will make them better adults. We should all try to remember where we came from and not be so quick to stick our noses up because we were blessed with a skilled child. And if your child was one of the other kids........
