Don't lump West Islip into this. The kids pay whatever the tournament entrance fee is and you only pay for the ones that you go to. Not every age group is open to out of town boys check the web site Bill is a great guy. But this is a real conflict of interest. No two ways about it. How is it a conflict of interest for Cherry but it's ok for the coaches at St Anthony's and Kellenberg with Express. And before somebody drags out the old and tired answer about it's different for public vs private, please don't. How a school is funded with tuition or tax dollars makes absolutely no difference and no sense in the discussion. I'd like to hear a better reason why Express coaches get away with the conflict of interest scrutiny yet other high school coaches don't get the same free pass. Let's hear it. You dont have to attend St Anthonys, Chaminade, Kellenberg etc. You have to attend your public town high school or move. I'd say there is quite a difference On one level there is no difference -- if you want to play lax and go to one of those private schools, and you are pressured to pony up for the coach's private summer lax team (or perhaps you won't play for the high school), then that would be a serious conflict of interest since the coach would be using his/her school position to coerce students and their families (not saying this happens, I don't know, but it is certainly possible). The lack of an alternative when the same thing happens in public schools makes that situation somewhat worse, but the conflict can exist on both the public and private levels. And frankly, once your kid is at the school he is at, he isn't going to switch to the local public school after year or two because the lacrosse coach wants you to pay him $1000 to play for his summer team. You'd pay the $1000 or not. Just like if this happened with the public school coach. Chaminade or St. Anthony's (or any private school) does not take kids based on where they play summer lacrosse. Kids are accepted based on how well they do on the Catholic School Entrance Exam. So if a kid was playing on Jesters, Outlaws, or 91 from 3rd grade through 8th grade - those two schools would not have had an impact on where a player plays during that time period. However, when a HS coach is running a travel program that has a town bias like 32 and Liberty do in Manhasset, or like Yellow Jackets have in Northport, or like Ward Melville, West Islip and Northport on the boys side - then there is a conflict of interest. In many cases these same coaches are also teachers or phys ed teachers in the same schools. When you have current teachers wearing their club gear in school and also make "offhand comments" to kids about where they are playing, then that is a conflict of interest. If a catholic scholl parent "feels" their kid will have a better chance of playing at Chaminade or St. Anthony's and they have their kid play for Express - well that isa decision to do so. It is not a decision that is forced on them. There are plenty of kids who play on other travel programs and still play at Chaminade of St. A's. However, at the public HS level - it is my opinion that is different and it is more of a conflict because our kids are not going to private school and they are definitely feeling the pressure to play for their coaches travel program.

Why not lump West islip into it, for the youth grades you will also take players not from your town and for the HS years you will not let your top players (to avg players) play elsewhere. Then again why would top players want to play elsewhere.
Why doesn't Express have a presence at St John the Baptist? Could this be 91's or the new Legacy's chance to get a catholic HS on board with an organization.

Also a serious conflict of interest with Danielle Gallagher, Manhasset GIRLS VARSITY coach and LIBERTY owner/director. Saw her strutting around the other day at Manhasset in her Liberty jacket and sweats. Is she still a teacher there?

Didn't 91 run a jr. varsity summer team for St.John's a couple of summers back ? 91 supplied coaches and uniforms were St.John's colors, but said 91 on the front. Did something similar for Glenn H.S. too.

On the other hand, the kids who have no chance of ever starting are free to play wherever they want although many of their delusional parents will still feel forced to join express hoping that it will make a difference - it won't. The Express directors should step down from St. Ant's or vice versa.

At least two kids from fl$ play for St. Anthony's. So, I'm not certain this statement is correct.

Can I add a correction, the captain of the JV team last year, did not play for Express he played for Outlaws and the year before played for the No Limit Ballers and that did not affect his position at St. Anthony's at all. Let's face it, the coaches want to win and will play their best players no matter what! At the end of the day, politics step aside and the best players play to win.

Would it be to much to ask how many teams express has per age, the level they will play, roster size and who the coaches are.

If you include the turtles 2017 last summer had 5 teams. Did they cut back on a team this year? Was Turtles, Terps Black, Terps, Wolverines, and Phiranas.

If you have a kid that is hands down the best, of course the kid will play. If you have kids that are relatively equal or one is even somewhat better than other - the summer teams definitely come into play because the coaches are already familiar with these kids.

Was the LIE 2016 team at the UMD Terp Classic their best team? I saw them and they looked awful. If that's LIE's best 2016 team, it's a huge fall from the team they had a few years ago.
Was that a B team, or has LIE lost a ton of players (from the 2016 class, at least).

Don't be such a homer. Not all the best stay at 'set. Every year 2-4 boys go to Chami that would start at Manhasset and probably a total of 6 that would play at Manhasset. And some boys stay at Manhasset out of fear they wouldn't play at Chaminade. This isn't a knock on Manhasset which is a great school and lacrosse program but it the truth. Manhasset should be proud of it's boys at Chaminade. Like Ranger Jimmy Regan!

Regan was one of the last great Manhasset player to play at Chaminade. None of the kids from set that have gone to Chaminade since then have been impact players and they would not have played if they stayed at Set. That continues to be the case.

I didn't realize that the Marianist Brothers let their boys troll on websites during the middle of the school day. Wait.. am I mistaken? You are actually someone living vicariously through your child and behaving like a child! Both Chaminade and Manhasset have great programs and both teams play strong competition each and every year. Chaminade and Manhasset have played each other 6 times over the past 6 years and each has won 3 games. Of course Chaminade does have a male student population of 1700 or so as compared to Manhasset's 500 or so...

You are clueless!!! Sorry your list is wrong not going to mention names (naming kids should be off limits)but some of them play for Set and not Chaminade. Most of the rest would not have started at Set. Again most of the best players in Set stay there. Why is that so bad or difficult to understand. You obviously don't live there or you would know better. Let it be. They are all great kids. It doesn't matter.

The list was in a response to comment that "no one" from Manhasset has played or started at Chaminade in recent years. These boys all did (see LAX Power recruits). There wasn't anything derogatory mentioned about any of the boys. The fact is: Manhasset has sent many fine lacrosse players to Chaminade. Many many fine boys stay in Manhasset and play for the town high school. As far as the particulars of these boys, they all did play for Chaminade. The fact that I mentioned their names is not in violation of this Board's rules as they were only mentioned in the best light. Now, your own tone suggests that, if you were to mention a boys name in a posting, it would not be presented in the best light and used for negative purposes. BTW A Manhasset resident with children throughout and through the public school system. You shouldn;t make assumptions.
