One mans quick review on the weekend:
Opening ceremony was a joke. Too crowded, too hot, ling lines for the bar (lax parents sure do put em away). The kids are 12 and 13, and they don’t have incredibly long attention spans. The one guy spoke way too long. They would have been better off bringing one of the instagram guys in to speak for 10 minutes.
The fields were excellent. Can’t complain about the grass or turf. Dome was a but humid, but that’s to be expected
I thought the officiating was excellent, let the kids play for the most part. Seems to be that way out of state vs here at home where they call every little thing.
Closing ceremony well done. Alot of participation and sportsmanship.
LI teams:
Biggest disappointments in 91 and Igloo. Both lost in the last 2 minutes to teams they are better than. Goes to show any given day, even the best teams can get knocked off.
Nice showing by Express, but expectations were about met. They brought their World Series team to Tristar and they were beat by both 91 and Eclipse who both did not have their World Series teams.
Legacy squeaked into the winner bracket but still didn’t belong. Without the Lumberjax kid they need an overhaul.
Rebels experiment has run it’s course. Parents fighting with each other on the sidelines and half the starters unable to return next year without reclassing. Plus, where are they playing next weeked? 2 big tournaments (nlf and 3d) and the kids are not playing.
The Herd struggled. What’s the path forward there? Merge with another team? Best kids jump ship? 1. Moose - great bunch of loyal families but it’s now time for top players to move on. Great club for development up to 6th-7th grade. 2. Igloo - exposed on lack of depth/quality at attack as best players had to shift to attack from mid to have a chance. 3. 91 - only a disappointment in the minds of 91 and parents. Team is not productive on offense against mid and top teams especially if you remove Venom kid. Defense and goalies make that team look better. 4. Legacy - really had no business being at WS 5. Express - above average and inconsistent team which will become better with player movements in next 2 years. Same goes for 91. 5. Rebels - still looking for an identity. Top notch coaches could attract players from other teams this tryout season If rebels keep that staff it’s a no brainer to send your kid to tryout!! The team has room for improvement so they will need some new kids

Just had chance to play the year with that staff (Son is not a 2029), and yes that staff is incredible. They are also staying together. They will definitely be a force for years to come with that staff.

With no game today did all of 91 go home after the loss? Will the season continue or will they pull the ripcord like Venom did last year? Trying to understand the mindset of this group rn. 91, express, igloo and dukes went home cause the tourney director made a mistake and didn’t make a bracket for the quarterfinal losers. . Above is NOT accurate. Express, Igloo and Dukes were at the closing ceremony and participated. The ONLY team that didnt show up was 91 which is an embarrassment to that entire organization. What a bunch of sore losers.

If other teams try to bend the rules or cheat deflecting from their own cheating ways. They can’t develop kids they lose a lot of quality kids do to daddy ball conflicts and then have to fly in players from all over the country just to be competitive and keep advertising their brand! Being the only team not attending the ceremonies and not even making it to the semifinals is total embarrassment for that ownership, team coaches, parents and players.

Igloo and Rebels become irrelevant in under two weeks. All the best players go to LIE and 91. We can stop arguing now. And who cares about a closing ceremony. Nobody goes to those especially if the games ended the day before, give it a rest Igloo dad. Sorry not an Igloo or Rebels dad. All other teams went except 91 so shows what 91 is made of. Igloo seems to have a loyal and talented group. Rebels has great coaching staff and talent. Both teams will be fine for next few years.

Unfortunately they are correct. It all comes around and in the end only two teams matter. If anyone on here can show me a Rebels or Igloo team worthy of a mention above 8th grade then you got us! Otherwise it’s only a matter of 2 weeks until the fun ends for those teams. Enjoy those last couple weekends

You would think with the 8 coaches on the sideline and a 3:1 player to coach ratio, player development would be much better. 91 hasnt won anything the last 2 seasons with top talent / the Venom player and continues to fall short to top competition. The complete lack of integrity shown at WS could have been the last straw for 91 Chaos.

Really there were no surprises at WS. No one expected a LI team to win it. They all pretty much lost when expected. The lack of size is hurting some of these teams.

The World Series is likely to have zero impact on the future unless you want to consider the owner was on the sidelines. He got to see first hand what others have seen and known for awhile.

The only other team that could beat the top 2 when they got older was Legacy Taz. While Legacy is a 2nd tier organization like rebels or igloo, that team was insanely talented. Most of the kids went to top tier DI schools. So it is possible that the rebels or igloo could keep their group together and become a similar team that can run with the top teams later on. But one really good team won’t propel igloo or rebels to be a top tier organization. Legacy Taz never propelled Legacy to be in the same class 91 or Express (as an organization). All the teams after Taz are average at best.

Is there another LI team that has consistently beaten top teams or won anything of significance in the last few years? You don’t need to answer because we all know, there isn’t one. Last straw? Rebels can't participate at NAL a huge recruiting event for older boys, better start asking questions now before it is too late! Why were they in every NAL event this year?

I’m sorry your son isn’t good enough to make 91 Go away igloo parent Not sure 91 is going to be the desired team in years to come. Guess you weren’t at the NAL this year. There were plenty of rebels teams at both NAL events.

How common is it for kids to do speed and agility training at this level? For people who have done it, how helpful/not helpful has it been? Footwork is what coaches see. Highly recommend it but with out pressuring the boy.

Express with the first move. And more to come. Winning the offseason before the season ends. Cool. Care to elaborate?

Added another Dad Coach or gonna make another announcement Bill Parcels head coach but he is only going to show up to one game and one practice all year? Seems like a stretch one of the top players would leave ahead of the last tournament and go to a worse team that would be a no so intelligent parental move

Hats off to the Winks who are quickly building a financial empire taking advantage of no-frills social media advertising to instill FOMO to everyone on LI (and some across the US who aren't aware) from 5th grade and up and handing out and spotlighting numerous POG's for local event attended mainly by B and C level players who then are led to believe that they are competing against top talent. I'm sure the kids enjoy playing but it's a shame that they are taking POG photos posted on Instagram and many holding t-shirt from another Wink event the Juniors Open (ran out of Gait hats) while being selected as a POG for the Excelsior Games.

Gives them instant credibility and makes Express the preferred destination for the best players. Not for those that their parents think they are the best, but the best players. Those in the former will find themselves buried on a 30+ man roster. Those in the latter will see the field on a competitive team without a dad coach.
