I really wouldn't put MSJ in the same category of JC. We did beat them by 12 and MSJ doesn't have freshman refusing to play varsity so they can leave. We beat SP and next year should be even better.

Sadly, one kid ain't enough. Good chance we finish last in the conference and be lucky to be the 5th rung in AACo next year behind Spalding, Severn, Sev Pk and Broadneck. Administration needs to get its act together.

Administration needs to get its act together? How about starting to pick a school for the school itself, not the lacrosse program. That’s the problem with people in this area, they don’t do that. And then when the lacrosse program doesn’t go the way they like, they blame the administration.

Sadly some dads in AA county are trying to live the dream through their kids and when it doesn't work you see them pulling their kids out of schools and running around like fool people! It will all be over and their kid will have no friend group or social network or memories from high school because dad just wanted it more on the lax field Total clown shows Maybe your kid should have gotten better along the way and it would take care of itself!

Because white kids from private catholic schools are way down on the preferred list of college applicants. Wake up, these kids need something else to move up. Just take a look at white matriculation and sports are a big % of matriculation.

St Mary’s a dumpster fire right now to make alumni running the school. You want to make the school better hire the most qualified people for the jobs not just hire an alumni who went to the school that needs a job.
St Mary’s never thought Spalding would climb to the top of lacrosse in AACO now it’s happening. Add Spalding head coach was Baltimore metro coach of the year only puts more nails in the coffin for STM. Spalding playing chess while STM playing checkers.

StM is a dumpster Fire riding on a train headed for a huge weak. Yes , many of us pick our school based on Lacrosse. Many are looking at a top D1 school or Ivey.

And at this time StM is on the way down. Admin is clueless and team is nothing but a fire laden trainwreck. Time to bring in a coach that can clean this mess up.

100%. The people calling the shots at Stm are alums with kids in the program, or about to be in the program. Not making the right calls for the program, but rather the right call to get their sons playing time which will keep the program competitive with MSJ and JC!

Correct ! Nothing will change until someone gets rid of these alums or their sons graduate. By that time, StM will be at bottom fighting for who is the best among JC and MStJ and them. Of course their sons will get recruited and ride the bench somewhere. For them mission accomplished !

Do kids have a better chance of being recruited if they are playing for an MIAA school vs Public or are they only being recruited through their club team?

The MIAA "A" conference is arguably the most competitive HS lacrosse conference in the world. Even players who make an MIAA "A" varsity team but don't see the field much will be able to find a way to play college lacrosse.

The more competitive MIAA "A" varsity players (starters) are recruitable by most programs, and usually see multiple offers from solid college lacrosse programs.

The standout MIAA "A" varsity players will see multiple offers from top lacrosse programs.

If the MIAA varsity coach is helpful and supportive of the "A" varsity student-athlete who wants to play in college, he will be recruited. If not, then hopefully that student will play for a club coach or director who can help him to navigate the recruiting process.

Public school athletes may be able to get help from their coach (if he is well-connected with college coaches), but may have to play for a club with a coach/director who is connected and able to assist in the process.

Grades and (in some cases) test scores matter. College coaches (depending on the school) have some sway with admissions, but the prospect has to be academically qualified. Generally, the more respected the college is for academics, the higher the expectations will be for the prospective athlete.

Few people make a career of lacrosse. Players who want to compete in college can use their athletic prowess to gain admission to a better college than they would get into absent the coach's support. Better college (usually) equals more career opportunities.

Same @ChillLaxin still in charge at Blakefield. Parents/alumni dictating who plays combined with poor/no coaching will result in another dismal season. It’s embarrassing what’s going on.

In the past, they made an offensive focused team and a defensive focused team. I think offensive was maroon and defensive was white. Only one of the teams is really capable of a comeback though. But good way to stress them and make them work for it.
