New topic-what does the spring look like for HS teams both private and public? McD repeat at IAAM? Any new comers or loses of players that may impact this years team performance? My money is on Maryvale. Probably should put this in the girls HS lax forum.

Does anyone know how UA150 selections are made? Is everyone not selected waitlisted? Someone from Robinson sports reaches out to your club to list players in order to invite. Everyone is then waitlisted if they don’t make it so they can get your money if someone drops out or gets injured.

Players apply and include recommendations from club coaches/school coaches/film. A selection committee reviews everything. Players are chosen. Some are waitlisted. Some are given a flat no. Depending on how many players who were invited accept will depend on if players come off the waitlist. You do not pay unless you come off the waitlist.

They don't have you necessarily rank the players 1-10. But, they do reach out to the coaches and have you rate the girls on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being top tier potential top 5 division 1 player and 1 being d2/d3 mid to lower level player.

What do you think of teams like U. Of Delaware, Drexel and Temple? There seems to be many middle to lower ranked programs that offer opportunities to play somewhat competitive lacrosse while getting a good education.

Why does All American allow the Gerstell coach to pick a team? His is allowed to put his daughter on there and a Gerstell teammate that aren’t top players and those that are get sent home ! Happened 2 years in a row. I bet she doesn’t get picked for highlight or senior game either when he has no input. These things are so frustrating

You are right about next year, however. At least his club team goalie didn't make it for the third year in a row.

The optics are terrible. It puts the kid in a bad situation and there are plenty of people that could observe w/ no skin in the game and maintain integrity. The Hero's dad is as bad. Its surprising that Corrigan allows it.

If the other mnd and Heros middies came they would have been cut for her. Shes on team and he picks the other 21 after that.

The ONLY thing that should matter is where your daughter wants to go - she can play lacrosse and get an education with lacrosse helping to pay for it.

So Live Love Lax is behind us. I have a very disappointed daughter as she has been anticipating to see what coaches would look at her recruiting profile and she got zero notifications. She played well and contributes on her IAAM hs team. She’s on a mid-tier club team so her games don’t attract the same attention as others. She knows this only the first tournament, but she’s been sending her emails to coaches fans getting her film out there. She was excited for this summer, but the reality of now looks has been sobering. I’m worried for her and all the pressure she is under. She is going to attend a few prospect days this summer as well as a showcase so we know she’ll be seen by schools that she is interested in.
For those who have been through this before, how did you help your daughter with the mental aspect of recruiting ? Is it too early to reset expectations?

First tournament, she emailed the coaches, they came to watch her play, they’re gathering their information, and not all coaches look at sports recruit. I’ve had three kids go through the process, two never got a look on their sports recruit pages but got plenty of offers and ended up at D1 and D3. One got a ton of looks and never got an offer from any of the schools that looked at her profile, but got offers from schools that never pulled up her profile. Don’t rely on the views of your sports recruit page is my advice.

For those who have been through this before, how did you help your daughter with the mental aspect of recruiting ? Is it too early to reset expectations? Great advice above. I would also say, feel free to lean on her high school coach for feedback. If she has an idea of some schools she’s interested in, it’s a reasonable expectation for her coach to let her k ow if it’s a stretch, a good target ect. Same w your club coach. Use those resources. My daughter’s coach offered to call the coaches prior to her going to prospect camps to give a recommendation and heads up. Your coach should be willing to advocate. Good luck!

Prospects camps are great. My daughter got her offers from schools/coaches that she directly interacted with at camps.
