Seven teams make the playoffs in division. Not very hard to make the playoffs. Small schools practice all year around. Big difference!

Teams just don't look sharp this year. The girls are not that talented as in years past I feel. The demographics of Long Island are changing. The talent pool very different from ten years ago. Texas is becoming the hot bed after Maryland.

Class A is not very good. The best teams in A would be lucky to make the playoffs in Class C 🤣 Thank’s for your input dad. Only difference is that some schools have 4-6 D-1 level players, others have 1-2. Sufffok A has 4 good teams that would compete well with any other LI public

As to knowing about HS lacrosse I do track all D1 and D3 players coming out of HS for the NCAA. It’s my post retirement job.

Of course demos are changing but look at top 25 girls HS teams and you’ll see why NJ is a hotbed for GIRLS (boys HS in NJ is another story)

I’m also looking at raw numbers. NY/NJ metro area still has top notch talent, it’s just less in raw numbers than ten years ago. St Louis is a huge growth area, as is Indianapolis. Texas as well, which helps that Charlotte North came from Dallas. It’s really, graphically speaking, a flattening curve line spreading where the players are coming from. An important aside is the 2028 Olympics. This version of the game is not the game we play in the US. It’s a middie game. It will be very interesting the route they go picking the team. Good luck in your spring championships.

It's really unfortunate because it's a bastardization of the game....but I suppose you have to take what you can get with hope over time we get the real game into the Olympics

The game is certainly growing, but would put Florida, Colorado, and California ahead of Texas as far as emerging "hotbeds".

SE kid put up her numbers against sub par competition......take a look at the schedule. She is phenomenal player, but to say she is head and shoulders above other top players is just not accurate

Pretty sure all the top goal scores put up big numbers against weak teams. She is also not “head and shoulders” above some others. However, has shown that she is deserving of the top player in Suffolk county this year. Only one other that is in the running who lost draws badly whenever she went against good competition.

Teams in Division1 absolutely do not play the same teams as those in Division 2. Also, schedules are based on pre season power rankings and schedules are not the same. SE was not a highly rated team, therefore their schedule is not as competitive as the top rated teams.

Smithtown East Bulls coming in at number 23 according to LILj. Mount Sinai was ranked 21 in same ranking. The Bulls were 10-5 in the regular season last year and got into the playoffs as a five seed where they defeated both fourth seeded Commack and top seeded Ward Melville to make it all the way to the Suffolk Class A County Finals where they gave the reigning two-time Long Island champion Northport Tigers everything they had where their season came to an end. This season so far SE girl has 79 goals 38 assists for a total of 117 points, which is leading all of Long Island. SE girl had 6G4A vs Longwood. 5G3A vs Floyd, 5G4A verse Northport, 4Goals vs Melville etc... all top teams... Face guard with a backer in every game! I think Northwestern knew what they were doing when the picked her up after her performance last season.

Let’s not forget about Commack, half Hollow Hills, Miller Place, Smithtown West, Huntington, Sachem North, Connetquot. Most are very good teams.

You just proved my point, Miller Place is the 7 seed in class c. A good SWR team didn’t even make playoffs in that class.

Go back to the 2023 class and see how those leading scorers did at the next level this year. You may be surprised. Nothing surprising there. Most top HS players do not get significant playing time as freshman. There is a lot involved such as upperclassmen ahead of you, injuries, portal. Any girl who gets to play even a little as Freshman is lucky because some don’t even touch the field. You can’t score goals if you’re not playing. I know one girl who was a top HS player, but hardly played this year at a top 20 school. She was not happy and entered the portal. She currently has 4 official visits set up to other top 20 schools. I don’t necessarily agree with that because I think things change dramatically as a sophomore when you are in line for a starting position or at least a playing position. That’s why it’s so important to pick the best school and not necessarily the best lax program. Northwestern is a program that is graduating a lot of starters, so there is a chance that a freshman might play there, however, there are also a lot of talented players that have been patiently waiting there tern as well as the portal, so you never really know what will happen. This goes for all schools.

You can’t score goals if you’re not playing.I know one girl who was a top HS player, but hardly played this year at a top 20 school. Exhibit A: Look no further than last years northwestern freshman #25 who Started all 22 games ... Totaled 53 goals and 17 assists, was third on the team with 56 draw controls Not sure what that has to do with the comment? That girl is a rare exception. She was able to fill a unique role where all of the attention was on two of the best to ever play. Good for her, but not typical. Can’t wait to watch SE kid play with #25. Righty and a lefty from Long Island!

Not a tough schedule. LOL!
Northwestern knew what they were doing? (Assuming the same anonymous is the same person) One minute you say most top HS dont get playing time as college freshman then when presented with exhibit A you are now backtracking in the next breath by saying the girl is rare exception. This isnt BK you cant have it your way

SE player is a great HS player, but so are all the girls getting recruited to top 20 teams. Some get lucky and have opportunities to play as freshman and most don’t. It’s going to be a big reality check for most who need to learn to be part of something bigger than themselves. With Floyd out and SE out, I think the top player in Suffolk needs to go go SE, just like it should have last year. Only other player worthy is Northport do it all senior who is fantastic!

Top player in Suffolk if from Floyd Nope. What games were you watching? Only average at draw against good teams, and scoring as well. Great player, no way the top. SE and Northport senior both more deserving. This is not supposed to be a lifetime achievement award. It’s supposed to be the best player of the season.
