UMASS, NXT....low level tournaments.....We would not be there What's the matter were you not invited? NXT sponsors many premier recruting showcases and Tourneys. Top notch organization. I guess you're just too cool for that......pathetic

Could not agree more. Scores are meaningless. You guys don't get it. "Oh we are not going to recruit that stud because his team lost too many games". Just listen to this nonsense. Really now. Let the kids have fun and enjoy playing. High school lacrosse is stressful and intense enough especially if that program is a powerhouse. Club ball doesnt need be win at all cost. The crazy dads care much more about wins and loses than the Kids. When it comes to club ball it doesn't matter for recruiting how many games you win. But you guys just go on and on about meaningless club records.

1- True Blue- extremely tough last year, great core plus upgraded from try outs 2- 91- Mule is always upgrading 3-outlaws - combined with gladiators will help their lack luster offense 4-turtles - lost their best players plus competition simply improved 5-fl$- lots of talent at the tryout 6- terps - may surprise either way

If they've improved, then it should be a nice competition with 91. Both teams have many good players. Turtles are wounded but will recover; but will be more appropriately playing correct age level ball. fl$? Terps...50/50 either way...comes down to the kids who will have big hearts and ability despite inept coaching

But you guys just go on and on about meaningless club records. In general I agree. But would suggest that a team (or perhaps a club) with a winning history is going to be invited to some of the better tournaments. Team Podunk with a losing record is never going to make it to the Crabfeast, but Team Podunk that has won several (respectable) tournaments over the course of a year or two may just get that invitation. So I would submit that winning games is important. I would be interested to hear what other people think on this.

This is all fun to talk about but none of this matters anymore except to the pathetic dads living vicariously through their children! Its all about high school ball now from this moment forward. You cant win a state championship playing for True Blue or 91. College coaches dont care about who wins the LI Lax fest.Club lax is great if you have a good coach and your director has college contacts, but for most kids high school lax is where they will shine and get recruited to the school they want. High school lax is where they will make friendships and bonds that will last the rest of their lives. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride and stop worrying about which 14 yr old lacrosse team is better.

College coaches may not care who wins LI Laxfest, but you can be sure they do not care who wins the state championship either. The top colleges have the 2016 class nearly classes nearly full and are working actively on 2017s. All this is before most boys have even stepped on the field for a JV game. Club lax, individual showcases and who you are connected to (before HS) are all way more important than HS lacrosse when it comes to recruiting. Regarding the friendships point, you are 100% accurate. This is all fun to talk about but none of this matters anymore except to the pathetic dads living vicariously through their children! Regarding the friendships point, you are 100% accurate Good retort my friend, however I would say to you regarding the 2016 and 2017 commits, are we 100 percent sure that this is a good practice and is whats best for the kids? Take a look at the strong Long Island programs, West Islip, Ward Melville, Garden City, Manhasset, etc. As a general rule those programs have kids committing going into their junior years. I know my Head Varsity coach will not recommend a kid unless hes played and started at least one year at the Varsity level. I for one know my son is in no way ready to commit to a college in his freshman year of high school. THis early recruiting thing has really gotten out of control and it has made parent lose perspective in regards to their children and their capabilities. I would also submit to you that the majority of 2016 commits are kids that were either held back or started school late, so lets keep that in mind too. Youll know when your son is ready, dont be in such a rush. This is all fun to talk about but none of this matters anymore except to the pathetic dads living vicariously through their children! Every been to a Suffolk County or Nassau County championship lacrosse game? Every D1 coach imaginable in attendance. High school lax on Long Island is the best in the country and D1 coaches know it. Club lax and showcases are great but D1 coaches wanna see how a player performs against big competition in a big game.

My son has played travel lax for the last 6 years and has made several very good friends from other towns and I think that is a great thing, however I dont think it can compare to playing and hanging out with the same kids all through high school and beyond. The "Band of Brothers" mentality is alive and well and is a beautiful thing to watch when you see it happen.

All of this is what make Long Island the best place to find lax players. No one point is stronger then the other a combined effort from travel and HS experiences. Can't we all just get along.

I agree... 27-28 man Roster??
What parent wants to go thru the time and expense of traveling to 12 hours there n back to hunts valley, Maryland for a summer weekend in 100 degree heat to watch their son play 2-3 minutes per Quarter?
This is an alarming trend, and MUST be disclosed by the thoughtless (and greedy) lax clubs to the parents AND players PRIOR to tryouts, and certainly, Prior to asking for a players commitment!!

colleges recruiting from High School teams???
You are miss informed! College Coaches now (not 20years ago) can cover more recruiting ground in a single quality lax tournament in one weekend, than a entire season high school games...
i'll save u the standard rebuttal... ok, you may see college scouts at an Anthony's/Chaminade or Manhassett/GC game when college lax season has ended

I agree... 27-28 man Roster??
What parent wants to go thru the time and expense of traveling to 12 hours there n back to hunts valley, Maryland for a summer weekend in 100 degree heat to watch their son play 2-3 minutes per Quarter?
This is an alarming trend, and MUST be disclosed by the thoughtless (and greedy) lax clubs to the parents AND players PRIOR to tryouts, and certainly, Prior to asking for a players commitment!! not just the lax clubs... there are Town/HS summer teams have 28 , 29 players on the roster.

I know the Outlaws have around 28 but will be doing 8+ tourneys in summer and only around 22 will go to each tournament.

Lol. That should work well!! I know the Outlaws have around 28 but will be doing 8+ tourneys in summer and only around 22 will go to each tournament.

How did that work? Hopefully it will be run a little differently. Equal opportunity amd exposure... If run correctly it is the right thing. Kids will have commitments in high school and recruiting camps etc.

91 dad from your post's you are the angry one. You had a bad experince with Express and can't let it go. Life is to short. let it go. There are plenty of people who like the Express and feel it is best for the child.
[/quote]
Why is it that all express parents think everyone is angry? Sometimes things just aren't a good fit for numerous reasons. But you all seem bent on saying everyone else is angry. Perhaps your impressions are sublimated or rather suppressed hostilities over the fact that you pay so much for so little. Didja really feel your kid got the best he deserved and that you really got your money's worth? Really? C'mon...be honest with yourselves. There were whole sidelines of perturbed parents at each and every event. That is undeniable.
If you're happy just having your kid involved in a sport and not really concerned over the long term bigger picture; that's fine. But Long Island is chocka block full of great talent and it needs to be nurtured properly. Coached properly. We will have to agree to disagree. I maintain that express has become nothing more than a glorified money grab and nothing more.

What about the friendships made on a travel team? It's great for these kids to have different friends from different towns. Its all good. N I'm not saying you should do one or the other, they should be able to do both

How did that work? Answer: it did not work. At all. Period. End of THAT discussion. One suggestion is to post rosters at selection. We would be surprised, disgusted at some, while impressed regarding other clubs. Revolving door rosters must go. This is a challenge that select few would welcome. My boys club never borrowed, or left home a single player, not one single time. Not from selection, in fall tourneys, during winter league, nor in spring and certainly summer tourneys. We went out of state SEVERAL times, short a few on many occasions. We may all bicker and name call now, but this team never once made exception. THAT is something that very few can claim. They may CLAIM it, but enough fans, friends, former teammates, and folks-in-the-know are out there to put the fibs to rest. Thanks for your time

However, the opposite is true regarding college coaches watching the lax fest results. I make my living in the athletics department at a NY college. This depends upon the actual high school referred to. The blanket statement is just too vague and inaccurate. Sorry.

I know several D1 lax coaches personally, they look for talent and teamwork, they could care less who wins. They tell me it's about finding a kid who fits into their program. They are not recruiting the whole team! In fact, it is rare that you see more than two kids from a program going to the same school. I'm sorry too

People have a choice and you need to back off. All Express parents this and all Express parents that. You got it all figure out. Wow
