Fall Lax fest draws are out. Looks to be pretty well attended for a one day tournament. Any predictions? The brackets still seem weird with how many teams come from each pool, but at least it is better than last year where the winner of A played the winner of B. It should end up with 2 teams from the A bracket in the finals. Coppermine and Eaglestix coming out of the A bracket and meeting up in the finals. Eaglestix has the easiest pool play schedule for A. They dodge Coppermine, M&D, Cruch, MDU, and Skywalkers. Probably have to go undefeated to be top 2 in that pool. M&D plays coppermine, crush and skywalkers. That is a tough draw. Skywalkers has the next toughest schedule playing coppermine, M&D and NXT. Belles were ranked 51 last year, so they will probably go 0-3. Not sure how or why they ended up in the A bracket. Crush could come out 3-0 as well because they play Belles and FCA before playing M&D. Coppermine will go 3-0 and their goal differential will keep any other 3-0 team from having a chance. Coppermine will be without some key players, can they still put up the big goal differential? Eaglestix will be top 2. M&D may not win a game with that schedule. The rest are just there for filling up pool play.

Speaking of IIAM, predictions on which high schools are going to get the best 2028 talent? Or will a lot of girls stay public? Some schools have definitely been recruiting hard, wonder if it will pay off. May depend on where the girls live...I'm sure most don't want to deal with traffic and a possible 30-60 minute commute just for high school.

"Coppermine could go 3-0 in the IAAM"
LOL. You have no idea how big of a difference 1-2 years can make at that age. I have a very good idea. Sorry that wry humor doesn't work for you. Don't sleep on Maryvale in 2 years though... If you mean to imply that Maryvale is going to have all Coppermine’s talent, I’ve heard conflicting reports aside from one they already have Is it wise to switch club teams if there are no players on the team that will be going to the same IAAM high school as your daughter? What is the rationale?

Go to the school that best suits your daughter in all aspects of life (public or private) and don’t base it only on lacrosse. Most recruiting is done through club anyway.

It doesn’t matter which stats they use. The point was that if there are multiple 3-0 teams, coppermine will most likely lead in those stats. Don’t see them getting shut out of playoffs on a stat line technicality

Its well known that Coppermine always has players missing for Soccer during Fall tourneys. They should easily go 3-0 and be the buzz saw.

8th grade lax, time to start prioritizing if you are on the #1 team in country. That's just me though. If you play on a top-5 soccer team in country, prioritize that.

Why do you care if they play multiple sports and miss because of this? And what does it matter if they are on the #1 or #50 team. The player likes two sports, most likely three, not of your business. College coaches prefer multi-sport athletes. Girls who concentrate on one sport end up getting injured more anyways. And please don't say because the team struggles as a whole because they miss and not fair to team. I'm sure you care, because the soccer/lacrosse player tends to be the better player on the team anyways. Let these girls enjoy two sports they happen to love and makes them better athletes as a whole. Not your daughter, not your decision what they choose. Let the coach make the decision not to start the player that misses, etc. or find a team that understands the desires of multi-sport athletes. The funny thing about prioritizing a multi-sport athlete by 8th grade is they will be in high school in one year, no longer an issue with missing really.

Best 2 players on DD top 25 HS team, both committed to top 10 college programs, have been 3 sport athletes all through HS. Most on club and HS play at least 1 other sport. You get more well-rounded athletes that way.

"Youth sports" not sure I would plug 8th grade elite club lacrosse into the "youth sports" bucket. You can't "do it all", if you want to play multi sports, great, that's a plus, but playing multi-sports on a high end club level, that can't work. Certainly won't work next year. This is the year where its "poop or get off the pot. The Field Hockey, Soccer and Lax kids must decide which one they want to focus and prioritize on. You can do 2 of the 3 sure, but you can't do it at elite level clubs.

We are talking club sports though. Field Hockey has big tournaments in June this summer. How can you do both? You can't. That's my point.

Really amazing how many posters continue to put down the multi sport athlete and limit what sports and what level kids can play these days. Sounds like a lot of parents who can't handle better athletes playing multiple sports and are better than they were and better than their kid is.

You think Coppermine, ranked #1, just added some more top talent, wants to be missing their top players for another sport and risk losing a game they shouldn't or, in cases, of rankings, play a tighter game. You can say "mind your own business" all you want, doesn't mean teammates/coaches/parents aren't bothered by it.

Playing multi-sports pre HS can be done, even should be done as its of a great benefit. ITs not hard to find a club soccer team that isn't ranked in top 10 and isn't hurt by a lax first kid missing a few fall games. Same goes for soccer first kids, there are what, 15 teams in MD that play lax fall tournaments, do both if your a soccer first kid. 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, who cares missing lax in fall and soccer in spring, but this is 8th grade. If you are good enough, the club will put up with it, if you aren't, its certainly will get you cut.

Is that fair to the team you didn't play for?

Are you super mad that a great athlete is taking a spot on a top team? Focus on getting your own kid better and faster instead of putting down other families and athletes. Hit the wall!

Literally a player that was a top 10 lax and top 10 fh player that just committed to do both at BC. JD at UNC was seconds away from winning a national title in both sports in a calendar year. And she started for both teams.
As a coach, do I like when some of my best players miss some fall tournaments for another club sport? Nope. Do I understand? Absolutely. Heck. I did it myself. I want well-rounded kids to play for me. They are also far less likely to burn out.

But you're bothered with it, because you're mad that the really good soccer/lacrosse player is not getting punished, but in all reality they most likely are a superior athlete on the team. Don't you think if Coppermine was bothered, they wouldn't allow it, not take them on the team, and not play them as much? Now if your kid is hurting for playing time and not as talented as that player, I guess I can see why you are so upset. What's the big deal if the team loses a close game. It's all on that one player who missed? How deep is your team? You can't win games when one player misses? Wow! Rankings really are not going to be that much of a factor for recruiting in the future. It will be ok. And college coaches will like a multi-sport athlete over the one sport athlete, can tell you that.

Really amazing how many posters continue to put down the multi sport athlete and limit what sports and what level kids can play these days. Sounds like a lot of parents who can't handle better athletes playing multiple sports and are better than they were and better than their kid is. Yes, that's it, its jealousy. Why does it matter if a kid in 8th grade misses a Fall tourney due to other sports? Are you super mad that a great athlete is taking a spot on a top team? Focus on getting your own kid better and faster instead of putting down other families and athletes. Hit the wall! Why does it matter if a kid in 8th grade misses a Fall tourney due to other sports?I mean it doesn't if wins and losses don't matter. Are you super mad that a great athlete is taking a spot on a top team? What aren't you following? Its about being a good teammate and knowing you can't "do it all" without letting others down. Focus on getting your own kid better and faster instead of putting down other families and athletesSeems like you are trying to put other down here, doesn't it? And we wonder why we have self entitled kids. But hey, obviously your susie good enough to be kept around despite missing key games. You are winning.

You understand it, as long as that kid is a difference maker and helps you win. Will you play the kid that never misses a practice or game over her? Yeah, didn't think so. Does Lax Fall Ball in college have any bearing on standings or rankings? No, its a scrimmage. Same for soccer in spring for college. You're analogy is a poor one.

And yes. I do play the others. All but 2 kids on my club team play a fall sport. They also understand that come spring/summer, lacrosse must come first. They also don't miss nearly as much time as people seem to think. It's also pretty clear that those in college played both sports in club in youth/HS and faced these same conundrums with missing practices/games/tournaments. But apparently you are too dense to understand that point.

But there is a chance to also do golf if the AD will just let her do weekend tournies.

Wow, your daughter sounds like a modern Babe Didrikson Zaharias.
For the slightly more common, but still extraordinary, athlete who has D1 talent in two sports, what experiences do folks have managing that recruiting process? I am familiar with two-sport athletes with non-conflicting seasons who have successful college experiences in NESCAC/D3 environments, but generally still emphasized one sport in the recruiting process. Anyone have any advice on the D1 level?

So National Fall Lax Fest just posted an update and M&D's rough schedule just got swapped with Pride Red's more balanced slate. Anyone have a clue as to how or why that would happen? Pride now has 3 games with top ten teams including #1 Coppermine, and Crush plays #51 Belles, #38 FCA, and #19 Pride. Setting up for more than 2 undefeated teams.
