The field players that left FLG will be depth players at the clubs they went to, playing time won’t be anything like it was at FLG, more playing time for those kids that stayed, not much of a drop off.

So what’s more important at this age. Child likes both coaches and players.
Better ranked team (30’s), 2nd string- unknown playing time, all the big tournaments. CLub fees cost less but a lot more money in travel.
Lower ranked team (60’s), starter with a ton of playing time, only 1 major tournament each season.

Impossible question to answer without name, only LI based teams in the 30s last year are Tradition and Liberty and won’t be the case this year

Not that poster but my daughter is a 25 and we didn’t start anything until this year. Anything before is a complete waste. I see thr 26-27 at these things and it’s insane….that thr parents waste the time and money and to thr coaches that promote it. Everything is split up once you get there by age. So the 26-27 aren’t even looked at because the coaches can completely avoid going to those fields. I’d you want experience of what to expect…go for it…once. At one that is close by so you don’t need to stay in a hotel and waste more money. Ans I say this as my child is a 2025 in the recruiting period. She isn’t going. Too 20 so maybe that matters…I don’t think so because we have friends whose kids are. And as others mentioned they know who they want already just by team, tournaments etc. just have your child be thr one emailing schools when it’s time, highlight video, etc. we are headed into the most important tournament season…fall of junior year president’s cup. Coaches will be there watching so we know this is super important. I will say, we know girls that didn’t commit to top schools until may of junior year….top 10 schools. There is no rhyme or reason to any or this. Sorry this sounds fool…the whole process is. detest to break it to you, but if you are targeting the top 2/3s of division 1, the summer was the most important tourney season. 90% of all spots at top 50 schools will be filled by November. They may add a girl or two as a preferred walk on, but their recruiting will likely be done by early November. At Presidents Cups, LFTC, Chespeake Invite, most top college coaches will be focused on 26s. 100% not true. No one looking at 2026 yet. And if you reread what I posted, not looking at a top 10 school. It’s parents like you that cause the panic and promote the lies and nonsense. I think the original email was confusing. If your goal is to go to a top-25 school, the summer before Junior year is critical. Sep-early Nov is when most of the talent will commit. President's Cup, which is in Nov, is big for the 2026 class to get on the real radar of the top schools. Yes, some 2025s may catch the eye of coaches who are looking to fill out commits for sure but I'd say more important for 2026 this coming year.

If your goal is exposure in high school, you need to be playing at least 3, ideally 4-5 tourneys. If you are good enough to start for a team in the 60s, then you are probably good enough to start for a team in the 60s which plays more tourneys.

Its more than just top 25 schools, probably close to top 50 or 60. Schools like Hofstra, Delaware, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Va Tech, St. Joes will all have full recruiting classes before Presidents Cup. The D1 schools who are actively looking at Presidents Cup are usually lower level conferences like MAC,Big South, Atlantic Sun, NEC. Some big schools may "sign" someone post November but it is usually just a preferred walk-on offer. There may be exceptions due to a player recovering for an injury or a player who needed another semester of grades, but those are truly exceptions for the top 50 to 60 schools.

Also does anyone know the dates for fall queen of the island this year? For most D1 schools, they start looking at kids in the Fall of their sophomore year. (There may be a few who are looking accidentally before then, but those are really exceptions and shouldn't be planned on). Lax For the Cure, Fall Draw, Rivalry and Chesapeake are the biggest fall recruiting events for kids at top clubs. There were games this year at LFTC fall where YJ Spallina probably had 30-40 coaches PER HALF watching Presidents Cup is a big event too. However, if you play for a top club you will likely get 2x more coaches watching you during the east coast fall events. If you are targeting D2 or D3 or don't play at a club which plays in the best events, Presidents Cup is probably the biggest fall event. Based on these fall events, coaches often reach out to your recruiting director and "suggest" that you attend their winter or summer camps.

Ok well we can disagree. Not every girl is going to be recruited 9/1 by a top 20. This process takes time. Yes of course some girls are already unofficially committed. Thr vast majority are not. And I know for a fact girls go to top 10 way into the year whether you want to believe it not. Most schools aren’t worried about 2026’s yet. Still worrying about 24 (yep still trying to finish) and 2025.

FLG will still be very good with excellent talent. Going to be very hard losing 9 players… 7 of those were starters. What clubs did the replacements come from? I heard 2 from Liberty but what about the rest? They weren’t excellent last year (barely competitive) so how could they be excellent this upcoming year especially after losing one of the top goalies on east coast amongst others unless competition will be against teams that play in mid level B brackets or lower.

But when the owner consistently over promises and underdelivers, it was a matter of time.

No not new. I have a 24 she verbally commited Septmebr 4th and her teammates going top 20 all by October. I also have a 26 and 27. YES they still come in past October- 90% by November. But girls are certainly not committing in May of Junior year to a top 10 or 20 per below comment .

Goalie Dad did not enjoy his time with FLG He wasn’t the only one. Great group of girls which is why the team stayed together as long as they did. But when the owner consistently over promises and underdelivers, it was a matter of time. Wink, wink

So FLG Navy, the trophy of the FLG program is done? Also Tradition a shell of what they were last year? Where did all of these girls go? Girls choosing much less playing time for a better club experience it seems.

Lots and we of negativity here. It’s a shame. Kids going into HS. This will be great for most kids. Enjoy the ride. Most of you won’t experience it again. Be supportive.
And remember. Empire will be a contender this year.

Most of us can accept that FLG is done now so let’s talk about how the Tradition owner’s kid is now on YJ. Bye,bye Tradition when your founder deserts you. How can that founder and coach deal with inferior coaching?

How can that founder and coach deal with inferior coaching? Lots of girls have moved on from tradition after 7th or 8th grade. This really isn't new. Tradition is a nice middle school program with decent coaching. Not a place to showcase D1 talent for colleges. Never has been, never will. Bigger question, though, is will the 2 traditional girls who left ever see the field next year? Both middies, which is YJ's deepest position by far and replacing 3 girls who never really played.

Did all these FLG and Tradition players switch to YJ and Jesters A-Teams? That [Censored] for the players that got cut or demoted going in to high school.

Making changes after the 8th grade year isn’t uncommon, nor does it jeopardize their recruiting.

With so much movement to Jesters A did some of the A players get demoted which would then have bumped down some off the blue team?
What is happening to Liberty with the merger? Sounds like most of their top players left.

A lot of time spent here by parents obsessing over a top 20 lacrosse offer, doubtful the kids want it, more of an obsession coming from parents. Truth be told, when you fully explain to a kid what the investment is, sacrifice, risk of not seeing the field and lack of payoff at the end of those 4 years of college are to play at that level, most would choose otherwise.

It may not hurt a kid, but it's almost impossible to move unless you are truly elite. One of the reason you are seeing so many private tryouts going on right now as teams look to improve rosters post tryouts.

I dont think anyone is obsessing over that...at all. it was when that offer would come in (timeframe) and when schools start looking at player to recruit.

Agree that some parents definitely care more. However lots of kids (not sure if majority) but definitely more than a few just want to use lax to get in the best college they can and really don’t care if they ever see the field.
