Why did MadLax use the illegal players?
A. Didn’t have enough legit players to field a team
B. Illegals were better than the incumbents
C. They were cronies of the daddy coach, who as usual, put nepotism over talent

All 3. The Deerfield kid is a classmate of the coach’s nephew. He is not reclassing. The NL kid is a classmate of ml players. He was not rostered and was popped into starting line up over official ml kids.

Not a good look, but par for the course with Madlax

didn't parents on their own team turn them in and get them DQ'd?

Again, not a good look. I don’t blame parents, I blame the head of the snake for perpetrating this nonsense year in and year out.

Cabell is certainly a large part of the problem. It was his influence and success at the whole re-classing thing, whether kids actually did it or he would just do the old wink wink, reclass in the fall thing. More and more clubs adopted this policy in talking weak minded parents to take part. Some kids really benefited by going to better schools, but most ended up just paying for an extra year (0r 2) of private school tuition to go to the same category of school their kid would have attended in the first place.

It's too late for for the 27's but the cheating system took a big blow and is reverting back to age-based sytem, really because of the overwhelming cheating take this summer and last.

Loving the Next Level - Madlax feud. Two mediocre teams looking for relevance who both lost to Hawks and Crabs in HOCO and did almost nothing all summer. The Madlax 27/26 combined National team had maybe one or two quality wins, but Next Level didn’t beat even one quality opponent all year. Their best win was over Madlax. Without their goalie, Next Level probably isn’t even a AA team.

It's true! Madlax has the most horrific case of daddy ball I have ever seen, and Next Level's coach plays favorites as bad or worse than your typical daddy coach, and the resulting toxicity on both teams is palpable. Next Level used to be way ahead, but now they are both pretty mediocre even on a good day. But in fairness, I don't think Madlax has beaten Next Level in years (if ever), and I know for a FACT they have never beaten the Hawks, so I do think that Next Level is the winner of the pillow fight between the lightweights. And yes, the Next Level goalie is a great player, and they would be a lot worse without him.

Crabs barely beat NL in HOCO. That game several players were missing due to spring break vacations. Next Level has a lot of talent and they have added additional talent to their already strong roster. The coach doesn’t play favorites he plays to win which is what playing on an elite team is about.

You talking about the same Crabs team who posted IG pics of their 26's playing as 27's at Sand Storm last year. Or the Crabs who re-classed 4 8th graders this year and still stunk it up in the summer. NL has always played 2nd fiddle to Hawks. The Hawks couldn't figure it out once they couldn't give it to one kid 15x a game to shoot. ML has always been behind the others and the desperation in blatantly bringing in a high school kid wearing his high school helmet as an identifier is the definition of st*7p.

Crabs and Madlax. 2 peas in a pod when it comes to cheating and re-classing kids who don't need to.

LOL! As if NL is the only team that had kids on spring break vacations. Crabs had kids out too.

Agree about Crabs and Madlax, but the Hawks still own NL and their attackman is still the best player in the DMV. He’s become much more than just a dodger.

That’s almost exactly what he wrote. But the hawks attack has lost the holdback advantage and didnt do much after the injury

Hawks attack is not a holdback, fwiw. NL is trying to put themselves in the Hawks’ league, and they aren’t even close. They didn’t beat anyone of significance all year and lost to some questionable teams. They have some solid defenders and their goalie keeps them in some games, but their offense is flat, and they don’t have anyone who can create space. The big kid is an excellent shooter, but he doesn’t dodge or feed.

In this age group, Hawks will always own both Next Level and Madlax, and Next Level will always own MadLax. When those three teams play, the outcome is baked in. You can see it in the kids' body language from the opening whistle. Even when the games are close on the scoreboard, the outcome is never in doubt. winners and losers.

Ok Anne Arundel guy… try to follow… didn’t say it wasn’t accurate. Said it was an ignorant statement, one that was qualified by the fact you (or the original poster) noted the age group. Not the case in other age groups. That’s all. Hawks are better than both of them. But you’re a [Censored].

NL doesn't cut existing players. They give those families the option of staying on as practice players. They have 30+ on older teams so this one won't be any different.

seriously?
do practice players pay the same as game players?
do they suit up for games?
what possible rationale would a family have to be on a team and get no game time, and have the kid constantly made to feel like an inferior player. there are a zillion teams out there for every conceivable ability level. why not go to one that is the right fit?

The NL matchup is a good one and even though the Hawks have won each time, NL plays them pretty close. You are not representative of the way the Hawks families feel about local competition.

Yes, they are supposed to pay the same. On the older teams, some dress and some don’t. There’s only a couple of Team choices in the close in dc area which NL mostly serves. You can play for a really bad B team or hang with your friends. The ones getting cut, or those who think they will be stars on another A team, usually aren’t very good and they wash out of the sport. DC is not like Baltimore out even AA county.

Anyone who stays on a team as a “practice” player while paying the same amount of money needs to get their head examined quick.

As a parent of a boy on the Hawks team I can say that your statement is ignorant and I sincerely hope you’re not a parent. No one owns anybody. The NL matchup is a good one and even though the Hawks have won each time, NL plays them pretty close. You are not representative of the way the Hawks families feel about local competition.

perhaps the word "own" seems harsh to you, which is fine. A nicer way to say it is that Hawks have a mentality expecting to win those games, and the other two teams have a mentality expecting to lose. if you doubt me, and if you have a son or know a boy on any of those three teams, ask what he expects to happen the next time his team plays one of the other two. the kids all know it. the original observation is actually quite astute, not ignorant.

Needed to make space for the 5 kids who got cut from Crabs because of Crabs' new fly-in players.

Fly ins? What are you talking about? The Crabs cut 5 kids and replaced them with Baltimore kids.

I find it fool how parents waste time on this forum putting down other teams/players. I thought HOCO was really fun, very competitive and most of the teams in the elite division were very good. ML, NL, Crabs, and Hawks all played very competitive which was very fun to watch. Some teams had a less positive summer outcome than others. However, each of these teams have some very talented players. Most of these kids are friends and enjoy the friendly rivalry/competition. My son in particular often talks about the talent in the region and the conversations with his teammates and friends are positive. “The new defender the crabs got is amazing, he’s going D1, the attackman on this team is amazing, the fogo on this team is unbelievable, the goalie is unreal can’t wait to see what he does in high school, so and so got cut that makes me feel so sad for him.” All supportive positive conversions building up other players in the 2027 class! While you guys are on here debating who’s team is Mediocre and who has the most reclassed kids. The talent is pretty equal and every team in the elite division has reclassed kids….. Get over it! Who you are they become. Set better examples for your kids! We all know who the stand out players are in this class, how about some positive talk about the future of these young players for a change. Or maybe some positive debatable conversations on what could make each of these teams better?!

How about the opportunity of some kids are being knocked down because of the cheating of others. You can be critical of programs, coaches and even players and supportive of your own kids at the same time.

If you don't think Crabs will be flying in kids for tourneys the next two year, then I have a bridge to sell you.
