Facts are in short supply this time of year, but rumors abound. Here is a summary of the rumors I have read on this Board about the local DC teams. If anyone knows facts, the BOTC world would be interested to hear.

DCE - Retaining the whole BLC roster and picking up 6-8 players from Madlax.
MadLax - Retaining their whole roster, having guest coaches from every HS in town, and picking up the former True Chesapeake players.
Next Level - retaining their whole roster, but had 90 players at tryouts, including players from BLC, MadLax, and True
True Chesapeake - folding their tent.

Point of clarification - "whole roster" refers to the top 13-15 players - steady rotation at the bottom 1/3 among all these teams is to be expected.

anyone who can confirm specifics, please do!
Madlax losing half by of its team. Small to begin with, 18-20 players on the roster. At least 7-8 gone, could be more. So no, Madlax is not retaining their whole roster, or anything remotely close to it.

NL is keeping most of their roster, but some of their kids are trying out at DCE. Doubt they’ll leave NL. Loyal group.

DCE didn’t have anything to lose, they’re a brand new team as a pp pointed out. I’m told they’re bringing in about 10 of the BLC kids, they’ll get a bunch of the Madlax kids (hearing its 6-7, with a few other ML kids deciding between there and NL), and some randoms.

Once this settles out, it should be pretty competitive between these 3 teams in the spring.

If MadLax is losing that many players, how will they remain competitive with the other two?

Director will bring in several new local players like he always does supplemented by out of area players when needed. Best players are staying, fringe are only ones leaving. Dust hasnt settled yet.
The dust is settling, unfortunately, on what remains of this team. And no— the director will not be able to attract kids, other than some unwitting True kids who made up a pretty below average team to begin with (take out their flyins and they’re not even elite).

Getting caught up on this Madlax drama. I think this new Madlax goalie dad from True just called out every goalie in the country, including his fellow goalie teammate, with the exception of the 3D Georgia goalie. What in the world…. Oh wait— he also just called out the other members (Madlax Scoopers) of his new team? Madlax De Poles better look out, that formidable crew from True Chesapeake is coming to town. Sheeeesh, this guy just did a number on his poor kid, good luck to him.

Cabell has e branded them the DC Dogs!! How could they not compete with their new name???
So who will t be this fall? Madlax Nationals, Madlax Monuments, Madlax Capital, or the Madlax DC Dogs? They’re all the same team, five or take a player or two. Which one best suits the script of the month?

Capital and Monuments finished within two spots of each other in USCL rankings, so all of that silliness essentially for nothing.

If your kid is even remotely capable, and you’re willing to drop $6k on a club program, CM will take your son. Go for it.

so who are the 7-8 MadLax players who I keep hearing are moving to DCE? are they impact players or not? I'm willing to be the goalie is moving, which is basically a 1 for 1 trade with the combative Dad goalie, so that is a wash. The other impact players would be the starting poles, the double holdback who scores a lot, and the middie who faces off and also does his share of the scoring. are those players leaving? or is it players who are easily replacable.

Did FCA Blue pick up any new fire power? Also hearing Crabs favored the BL kids and taller/bigger kids at try-outs. That will def haunt you.

No top 12 players left Madlax. Those who did were nice kids, decent players. But not major contributors.

Curious, which kids on the team do you think are the top half? Do you their jersey numbers?

False. The majority of ML’s starters have defected. The question now is whether ML will be able to field two teams at 28. The people who stayed are kicking themselves for putting trust in CM. I expect a few more to leave. As usual the nicest families who didn’t want to abandon the team got screwed. CM got his comeuppance but it [Censored] that so many great kids are stranded.

They’re not stranded. Next Level, DCE, and VLC will take them. All are good teams with normal, sane coaches.

No top 12 players left Madlax. Those who did were nice kids, decent players. But not major contributors.

Madlax is losing its momentum bigtime. The DCE and NL tryouts are loaded— like 80-90 kids looking to play. Madlax tryouts? 7-8 new kids looking to tryout, very few of whom are elite. Madlax Capital carries a roster of 18-19, not because they want to— because that’s all they can find. Their DMV team doesn’t win games in the 4th division of HoCo. Meanwhile, the BLC/DCE and NL teams are a healthy 25 kids, and their B teams are SOLID, and serve as a great pipeline of talent.
Madlax will find some solid guest players from Kentucky, Texas, Florida like they’ve had to do in the older age groups. Which is really annoying for the kids who practice year round. Fact is, there is a steady churn of players out of Madlax as puberty hits. Toxic.

Curious, which kids on the team do you think are the top half? Do you their jersey numbers?
Let’s just say you will see 6-7 new kids when the starting lineup rolls out in October. That’s 60-70% of the starting lineup. Assuming no other defections, which I’m hearing could be imminent.

Any Baltimore teams still looking for players? Have all roster numbers been released.

With the addition of Hardshells, where will they play in HoCo?

serious question. Why? yes, the owner/coach has always been a bit annoying, but these families have been on the team for years and seem to have built their own culture around him. MadLax beat NL and BLC this past spring. They just added an insanely good goalie. (at least according to one poster) MadLax gets kids recruited to college, that is proven over many years. why is everyone jumping ship now?

There are like 89 teams in Baltimore.

Might be more specific?

Yeah I doubt that since Kyle Harrisons Clippers picked up 50+ AA and AAA players out of the Annapolis area.

And MDLL picked up less bad A and AA players primarily from Annapolis.

And True Glen Burnie still exists unfortunately.

But I'm sure some great kids from Rockfish made it over to Pro Slash and the team will get 4th in AA again.

I have no dog in this fight, but I know of a few kids who were at the lower end of elite who went to ProStart. I know of a bunch who talked about Clippers, but none that went. I would bet Prostart > Clippers next year. Considering the SMA ties, Prostart has a stronger foundation than Sidewinders. I could be wrong.

No dog in that particular fight either but there is a lot more than winning that is a factor in staying on a team or not. I’m curious too but as a previous poster said, I am sure MadLax will fine. They already have new kids on their roster - Dallas, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, VLC, etc.

An insanely good goalie . . . only according to that goalie's dad. True gave up the second most goals in HOCO and ML went 2-3 in their last tournament.

What is the infatuation with Madlax? If they didn’t have a good summer, who cares if half the team is leaving. Sounds like they need to clean house and these True boys will bring some grit and athleticism. If those leaving all go to the same team
Combined with even lesser talent than the 1-3 at NLF, doesn’t sound like a recipe for success.

Exactly, as the goalie Dad says, clear out the little scoopers and bring on some real athletes. Sounds awesome.

Grit and athleticism and their 3-5 HoCo record coming to town, guys. Look out, True goalie dad back in the house.

Madlax will finish behind NL and DCE in HoCo next spring, book it.
