Does anyone know how MD Cup playoffs will work? 5 groups and only 4 teams make playoffs. Meaning with YJB and FLG could go undefeated if only one team per group gets through.

Would really [Censored] for FLG to go all the way to MD, blow out 4 b

next year almost everyone goes to Maryland cup. maybe its a better venue for coaches to recruit at....who knows.

In summer Genesis they still had their old coach their new coach only came in last week…

It's unfortunate for all the 2027 teams heading to the MD CUP this year. It appears that only the STEVENSON group will be involved in a playoff all other teams play four games and head home. The same thing happened last year which is why allot of the better teams are going to the MID ATLANTIC the same weekend

That doesn't feel right to me. I'd think YJ would at least give a path for YJB to make playoffs. Maybe 3 from top group and 1 from second.

Also last year, 2 team from top group made playoffs and 1 team from next two.

Why is FLG ranked #12 in B bracket?

Curious what everyone considers an A team or B team? Is top 20 considered A and the next 20 considered B?

I would think top 20 would be a good marking point. But in reality, the 20th best "A" team is light years behind the top 3 or 4 teams. But you have to start the A conversation somewhere. So 20 sounds about right

Top 20 based on what? Hopefully parents aren’t taking the US Club rankings all that serious. College evaluators don’t pay attention to them…..

From my perspective, the top 7 are A-plus and the 8-30 are A. And there is a major gap between them.

For instance if #11 Steps beat #5 eagle stix, it would be a major upset. But if #29 Team 180 beat #11 steps, it would be a minor upset at best.

This is why the second bracket in tourneys is usually the most competitive because anyone can beat anyone else.

Look at MD Cup, with the exception of YJ North, any team in the MD bracket can beat anyone else. I highly doubt anyone goes 4-0.

not completely true. College coaches don't care if a team is #5 or #20. But they do care if a team is #20 or #90.

Ranking are probably most meaningful for clubs (especially outside the east coast) outside of the traditional top 20.

Why are there no MD teams playing in the MD Cup? Seems a waste to be playing LI Westchester and Upstate teams in Maryland.

Glad they are driving to Maryland to play them. Could have held that bracket in Westchester county and saved everyone some travel and hotels.

Because Maryland clubs have tryouts next week. M&D is the only top MD/VA club even playing in Mid-Atlantic. Heros/Pride/BLC/SW/Coppermine will end their season this weekend or are already done.

And M&D will likely be short any girls who will be cut or demoted next year.

Rosters for M&D won't be released until after the tournament. They will be there with complete team

I guess with all the back and forth about the MD Cup it appears they have changed the Playoff Bracket from just the Stevenson Bracket to an 8 team format
1q vs 8q, 2q vs 7q, 3q vs 6q and 4q vs 5q but they do not indicate how the brackets are broken down.

Goucher/Hopkins/Loyola 1 each

But to keep it balanced they should create a two Division format based on their level of play.
Each Division would have the typical four groups of four teams (except two of them would have 5 teams or 1 with six teams).
Best record of each group moves on
Same amount of Qualifying teams

The better solution is to move all YJ/Steps tourneys into AA and A brackets with their own playoffs. This prevents teams from playing in a [Censored] bracket just to make playoffs.

For MD Cup, team in top 2 brackets should basically be in their own tourney. (Maybe sub HHH and Sound for YJ North). The teams in bottom brackets should be in their

Jesters lose by 3 today to FL Select and by 4 to Eagle Stix. Super solid team with a great defense. Just not sure they will ever score enough to consistently with the top 5 or 6 teams. Still proud for a LI team to be top 10 other than YJA. And others close behind.

Good team. Although they did well to avoid Aces and M&D yesterday. Aces played well early. And M&D was hot.

Now with summer tourneys done, we can move on to what's important

1) speculating on who is moving to what team in tryouts
2) talking about how a massive cash grab American Select is and how the team selection process is unfair
