How did this class do with tryouts? Did any V programs take more than 1 freshman? McD, BL, CHC, AS, STM, and LB STM only took 1

Thanks Sandy! Fact check. Not all. Wrong - not all. Some on JV This brings up an interesting point? Which is better; varsity spending the majority of the time on the sidelines or JV where these kids will get plenty of playing time? Let’s be honest very few freshman will be seeing the field much unless your Spalding where they lost so many seniors last year.

Let’s be honest very few freshman will be seeing the field much unless your Spalding where they lost so many seniors last year. The vast majority of players would be better served with playing time on JV vs sidelines for varsity. A case can be made that practicing with varsity every day is just as good for development for an advanced freshman that made varsity but the mental toll of sitting and lack of game reps is not worth it. There are a handful of freshman that contribute right away at varsity for MIAA A but those players are very rare even for 2026 Crabs who should be juniors.

Think it depends entirely on the kid. -Some kids will respond well to the intensity at practice and up their game to prove themselves and also play against much better players than they are. Playing time isn’t the measuring stick of growth for these types -Other kids need the confidence of making it onto the field for games more and grow their abilities, leadership, and teamwork Each kid is different and hopefully they can communicate with the parents to help them make the best decision for them

This is getting boring. on another topic, I wonder what is happening to MadLax now that most of their starters bolted to NL, DCE, and VLC. Are they going to replenish their roster with fly-ins and holdbacks, or just fold the Capital team and compete at the DMV level in this class?

Just Ask King Crab and any MIAA parent they will confirm this.

If he wasn't he would not be playing and he has benefitted from delaying his HS lax trajectory. Or he is so special that a true freshman is starting for the #1 team in country at this time.

I"m sure they will add fly-ins, holdbacks from 2025 and or guest players from other teams that a) doing poorly b)player looking to get more minutes because he was pushed down the depth chart. Summer tournaments will be here before you know it. No way they fold!

He is a holdback. He played for the 2025 Hawks in 3rd and 4th grade, but couldn't hack it so went to the 2025 Crabs and then reclassed to the 2026 Crabs team. Nice kid, and has improved tremendously. Holdback year helped his confidence.
