Lots of girls at privates just standing around watching and “learning” from girls who Actually play

If you’re ok with that being the possibility for your kid then you’ll be fine

And your kid is going to get valuable time on JV? Please, you're foolish to think JV practice and 15 games is going to be better for development.

Club is definitely more important than HS for development. All that being said, I have seen many girls struggle in early June in club because of lack of game action and practice reps while sitting the bench.

I'd advise any girls who aren't getting practice reps on their team to make sure to take private lessons in season to keep their stick skills up.

If your daughter is playing for a top club team she’ll get the exposure she requires to be seen by college coaches whether she goes to private or public school. Going to private school just for the purpose of getting a college scholarship is just as expensive as paying for College itself. And if you are using lacrosse to get into a better college- just focus solely on academics in the first place. Nothing wrong with either private or public as I have a child in each but just be realistic with why you are doing it.

Not to mention, rarely if ever, is anyone getting a full ride to play lacrosse in college. So if you are doing it for a lacrosse scholarship, it's a probably not a wise move. However, some kids need it for academics, socially or both and that is okay. Some PARENTS need it so they can say in their social circle their child is "playing" lacrosse at a private school.

I'd say the last sentence is 1000% accurate

Atlantic City has
SW -4.5 vs. NEMS

Old Vegas
SW -7.5 vs. NEMS

Wild because this time last year, NEMS would be in brainer favorites here.

SW has a chance to make a statement if they can win in dominant fashion. SW could be the 5h best team by end of summer in Mid Atlantic, and could make a push for 3rd (This implies BLC no longer in that ranking and they get some more talent).

Many (not all) publics are going downhill. Especially with the woke nonsense being taught, violence, teachers getting disrespected, etc. etc. Parents that may have never thought about sending their kids to private schools are now strongly considering it.

From a lacrosse perspective, agree with the notion that the club is more important than the high school. The lacrosse is better in the private school leagues, but kids can certainly get into good schools going to a public.

I would not send my kid to a private for lacrosse, more for the education.

Still a big gap between BLC and SW. Although the gap isn't as big as it used to be.

The talent that SW added are kids cut from Hero's. Although they are still better than what was there.

Personal reasons meaning not related to coaching staff. Huge pickup for SW-- her leadership alone transformed that defense from one of the worst at A level to at least average.

Let's be honest, SW didn't really play anyone in Fall, so very hard to even make that comment.

Their hardest team was Philly Blast #22, and Limitless, #27.

That's the top-5, if talking club, from 2032 through 2023.

Competition is the best in IAAM. You could win a national championship using only IAAM players.

The following 2 things can be true

1) SW can be significantly improved, especially on defense
2) They still aren't a top 20 team.

Keep in mind this was a team that last summer this team lost to Atlanta Storm, Next Level, CavLax and NEMS and tied Phantastix. Their best win last year was YJ North.

Last year, this team wouldn't have come close to beating those two teams.

Disagree. You couldn't win a National Title from an all star team of public school kids at Carroll, Howard or AA. Combined all three Im not sure that is true either.

Correct, but if you wanna talk about how a player "transformed a defense through leadership" (really?) you might want to see how they play against teams that are in top-20.

If you saw the starting point of the old defense, you would understand. Simply marking up was a challenge and pick and roll defense was non existent.

I agree with the comment above when it comes to lacrosse. There is great talent in public schools, outside of md/Long Island, etc… but there is a reason that the UNC coach moved her daughter to play in IAAM from North Carolina. They are the only conference to use college rules, and huge amount(not all) of the best players in college came from the IAAM. This has led to the best coaches as well

You seem to be the troll.

Im not a Hero's parent. You could win a national championship with IAAM only kids.

Imagine this lineup last year.

A - Ashlyn McGovern UVA - SPSG
A - Kate Sites - MD - GCS
A- Andie Aldave - UNC - McDonough
A - Maddie Jenner - Duke - McDonough
M - Kristin O’Neill - PSU - Spalding
M - Shannon Smith - MD - RP
M - Jillian Wilson - LOY - Gerstall
DC - Shaylan Ahearn - MD - GCS
D - Sam Thacker DEN - McDonough
D - Marge Donovan - MD - McDonough
D - Maddie Johnston - Duke - NDP
D - Sarah Cooper Cuse - NDP
G-Emily Sterling MD - JC

You aren't winning the draw, I can promise you that.

All the new girls that joined SW are not only good players but really nice girls who are working hard.

The team is definitely heading in the right direction and will continue to improve throughout spring and summer.

There is a ton of outside interest from girls on other teams, will be interesting to see how it all shakes out before high school.

Unbiased opinion (and yes we see these teams all year). Cool topic though.

Teams. accurate
Goalie. Hero's should be in top 3 Although they need a Backup
Defense. Accurate but order is irrelevant. All are great
Draw. Accurate. Although Hero's girl pretty good too
Midfield accurate.
Attack is off. Both M&D and BLC are def stronger than both 2,3
Bench. Accurate but close between 1 and 2

Regardless of opinions, the amount of talent amongst these teams is impressive . Best of luck this year to all

One player changing a unit with skills alone (at 13/14) is a stretch. One player changing a unit (at 13/14) with leadership alone is just short of impossible, if not absurd.

When we played SW they didn't appear to be well coached in any phases, so again i doubt one player made that huge difference absent some other changes. The talent looked on par with most of the average teams. But there must be something to the franchise as at least 2 parents from my team are talking about trying out for them year end.

The Skywalker program is one of the best in the country and has a long history of recruiting success. The 27s have struggled more than most but turned the corner last year and added 6 girls over the last couple of months.

There are girls from other clubs showing up weekly to get a feel for the coaching, team and culture. They’ll be more than fine, it’s a marathon not a sprint.

It’s 8th grade lax, no one is handing out D1 offers after a ngll game

This is a great class. Compared to other classes (25/26), I think the goalies and midfields are truly exceptional. I think D as a whole is a bit behind while attack is pretty comparable.

Eh, disagree. I have an older daughter too and have seen a fair share of 2026 games with friends/parents, and believe we are at least a year behind developmentally overall at the same point in time. I might agree on the goalies, but that’s it.

I think the top talent is equivalent, at least offensively. Biggest different vs past years is that there is a Big 3 and not a Big 2 which spreads the talent out a little bit.

I know Stars 26s were strong, but they aren't close to this BLC team

so hard to compare grad years, as they are in their own little universe. Its like American and National leagues in a way.

I think we are seeing 2026 freshman making impacts on varsity teams already. I wonder if 2027 will have same?

BLC is be no more after this year, but believe Capital is going to be a force.

As for positional rankings by team, I think they are pretty accurate. Whoever listed, did their homework. HG Goalie needs to be included in that list. I do think there's one glaring missing positional group but I think over the course of the NGLL, it will be clear.

Appreciate it. I did the rankings and wanted to give you my perspective on not including HG at goalie position. My rankings were based on total position, based on how the teams use them, not just starters. And the backup goalie at HG clearly bringing them down. If it was starters only, I'd probably have a tie between HG and MDU at #2.

My rankings were based on total position, based on how the teams use them, not just starters. And the backup goalie at HG clearly bringing them down. If it was starters only, I'd probably have a tie between HG and MDU at #2.

Huh?? HG doesn’t have a backup goalie?

So glad all of 27’s is made up of 3 or 4 teams. Where would we all be without them? Poor public school girls who don’t play for one of those teams. Might as well stop playing now.

[quote=Anonymous]Since this board has been civil for the past few days before spring season stars, let's change that.

2027 A Preseason Rankings

Team
1. M&D
2. Heros
3. BLC
4. MDU
5. Pride

Goalie
1. BLC
2. MDU
3. M&D

Defense
1. BLC
2. M&D
3. Heros

Draw
1. Pride
2. BLC
3. M&D

Midfield
1. Heros
2. M&D
3. BLC

Attack
1. Heros
2. MDU
3. Pride

Bench
1. M&D
2. Heros
3. MDU[

Have to. say I agree with most of these rankings. HG's attack has been good, but underwhelming when I have seen them play. I have seen them play pretty regularly. I would put them 3 on your list. HG's midfield on the other hand is a juggernaut. Thanks for posting.

What does private have to do with it? My daughter plays on a top team. She's public. Along with a lot of other Hero's and M&D and Bethesda kids.

Don't use public as a crutch. Just tell your daughter to get better. Or show out in NGLL.

Not sure but I think the person was being sarcastic about public schools and so called “Top 3” club teams due to all the recent posts. Clearly if you look at a college roster you’ll see there are plenty of girls on it that didn’t come both private school or Top 3 Maryland club.

Big thanks to ngll schedule makers for holding games at spsg that start at 7pm even though sunset is 725…and no lights at the field

Seems safe
