I agree with the first statement as for the 27's are a hard working and talented class.
As for the second comment I don't agree with there are 26 and 25 players that are not as god as some of the 27 players that have been moved up, the 27 Class is so large and because of the explosion of Women's/Girls Lax over the last few years that first time players are coming out of the woodwork. You have Clubs now that have three and four teams per age group, YJ alone has at least 5 Teams between Suffolk and Nassau County there must be at least 100-120 girls and Clubs like FLG, TG, Liberty, Tradition, and the Jesters are not far behind.
Most of the A and B Teams are built around two or three Offensive players a few strong defenders and a decent goalie everyone else is a fill in.
In regards to 28's playing JV and 27's playing JV and Varsity it all depends on the HS Coach. There are HS such as Ward Melville who does not allow 7th and 8th to play up while others like Northport allow playing up even at the Varsity level. Playing time is also in the hands of the JV and Varsity Coaches. From what I have seen this season there are of non-HS age girls getting allot of playing time. Mostly because their Lacrosse IQ seems high, they know when to pass to move the ball around while looking for the open player and when to go to goal. They can catch, pass and shoot with either hand. Sometimes its not how many goals you can score but how you can be a team player and make the other players on your team better. These players are making an impact on and off the field with their teams. These girls are the 28 and 27 Club players, there are others who are playing that are walk-ons and picking up a stick for the first time.
There are Directors and Coaches of Clubs that have dedicated themselves to training these players both on and off the field all year round. Most of these players may not be in the top of the 27 class but they play hard, know the game and are team players. There is not One player that can win the game by themselves.

Surprisingly, Ward Melville and Northport have some 8th graders on varsity. They probably don’t need them but they are on the roster. Not sure how much of an impact they will have though. Some coaches don’t have a choice however. There are many schools that need 8th graders to compete because their numbers are simply not there and these girls are making quite an impact.

Curious for those playing in NGLL today.
How strong a team are you sending? Did the girls who are playing varsity play?

The 2027 group
Jesters Black, Liberty Black and Tradition seem to be very strong and would not be surprised if some of the girls are playing for Varsity.
Legacy Blue a little behind the top 3
Empire and Laxon seems to be substituting allot. Laxon used three different goalies in each of the two games they played.

Assuming Jesters wins, I'm curious if they would bring a full roster down to Nationals. I'd assume most of their girls on varsity would be busy will sectionals and not available.

Can someone please explain what the LILJ all long island games are? Was there a tryout for this event and if so when? Also, what does "wave one" mean? Assuming there will be a wave two tryout? Where can I find more information on this? Thank you!

It may be a cash grab, but they do a great job of covering HS lax games as well as promoting players on social media and the overwhelming majority are players that are not even affiliated with LILJ’s ownership. The athletes appear to enjoy playing in the games as well as being covered on their social media. They have fun and it’s a good departure from the stressful season of travel and HS.

How do players get selected? Is there a tryout? Participate in any of the LILJ camps/clinics or play for FLG. Or have participated in their events in years past.

That is an incorrect statement. Many of the players selected have never played in anything sponsored by FLG or LILJ. If your daughter is selected then you should decline her invitation if it’s not worth it in your esteemed opinion.

If you look at other years, there are very few FLG players selected for these LILJ games. The 27 group is well represented but that's it. And they don't seem to have more or less players selected than YJ and Jesters. Has anyone's daughter played this game in the past or is this the first year?

You mean it’s the kids that pay to play in their league, camps, or clinics. There are many kids that don’t make that list and are much better players but are not on list bc they don’t pay to participate in those camps etc. Absolutely not the best on the island. And everyone knows it.

The selection does not represent the top 27’s but most of those selected are in the upper tier of talent for the 27’s and from various travel clubs. If those talented players believe that it’s a waste for them to play and be a part of the game etc., then they should just not participate. LILJ is doing a very good job and is getting better each year with its coverage of games and athletes, etc.. All the players enjoy being part of the coverage and hoopla.

LFTC brackets are out. It's clear that YJ runs this tourney.
YJA and YJB should cruise to the knockout round. Jeters and Liberty have a good shot at moving on. TG in a tougher bracket than YJA and will likely go 0-4.

Knowing most of the kids on that list you will most likely not like the outcome of that game. Have a wonderful season and hopefully your bitterness about your daughter not making the so called "money grab" doesnt make you [Censored] hurt.

If it’s the best on the island why not have open try outs. Instead you have to pay to play in their camps clinics or club as a team in their league. PAY TO PLAY.

There are many events with open tryouts. Look at those rosters and you will see many of the same names. There are however some girls not on the list that probably deserve to be. No system is perfect.
