Big tourney in NJ second weekend of July. Almost all top NY/NJ/PA teams there.

Hero's was NOT the winner this past weekend.

Many will disagree with this - and no I'm not a Heros parent - but top to bottom I think Heros is a better team and could easily win. Regardless, they will definitely cover that spread.

Looking at the 4 positions, not sure where you'd see Heros better. Goalie is subjective in some aspects but otherwise, interested in seeing the detail.

These spreads are more for fun, its not a science, its an art. Now we do know Coppermine beat HG by 2 in the fall.

Coppermine also beat M&D by 3, while HG beat them by 1.

HG beat Aces by 5, Coppermine beat them by 8.

Eagle Stix beat Coppermine by 2, Eagle Stix beat HG by 4.

All the above, you can justify Coppermine being a few goals better than HG. If you disagree, I'd like to hear the rationale. Now -4.5, that a little high but call it a hunch.

If you're basing it on similar opponents in the fall, sure this makes sense (though 4.5 is a little high). There is something to be said about how teams match up against each other, though. Also, I think the teams you see this spring will look a little different than the fall when people are just trying things out and trying to make up for soccer/field hockey absences. If both teams put their best team on the field for this game, which they presumably will - I think you'll probably see a close game like you did in the fall and it's one that could go either way.

True. I'd say last summer is probably a better indicator than the past fall due to roster availability, especially since no major roster changes on eitiher team.

If you are saying that neither team had significant roster changes from last summer to this Fall/Spring season, then you don't know what's going on with the teams.

Watch out Hero’s. Coppermine was supposed to play us in week 1 last year but begged for a postponement ( and got it) because their players wanted to play soccer instead.

Wouldn't you rather play a team at full strength, and see if you can beat them when they have all of their players versus a skeleton team? Or are you just looking to get W's for your girls however you can get them?

If this relates to the situation I've read on his blog about Coppermine having a game changed then I don't think the issue should be couched in win/loss terms. I think the games should be played as scheduled by the league unless weather, e.g., lightning or both teams agree to a rescheduling. The league should otherwise not reschedule games if only desired by one team. When the league makes a decision for or against a team's request it is put in a position of taking sides. This should not happen and shame on a league's administrators for doing so.

Things come full circle and MDU will get the win against Coppermine this season. Coppermine may not even make the playoffs this year.

Why does everyone detest on Coppermine so much??
I guess top teams will always have a target on their back.
If a game is asked to be rescheduled, NGLL will ask the other team, do you agree to rescheduling the game? If yes, it will get rescheduled. If they say no, than it won't get rescheduled. NGLL is not picking sides...they are a mediator in situations like that.

If the situation that involved Coppermine was, as you say, agreed to by the opposing team my earlier comment said such a situation is acceptable because both teams agreed. I don't recall anyone saying that both teams agreed, although it is HIGHLY likely I may have missed that comment.

I do agree that I don't understand why anyone hates another team or program. Everyone team/program is trying to do its best to win and field a winning team(s).

Coppermine has been the best 2028 team in the country for some time. Well-coached, skilled, and disciplined team. No affiliation, but my DD's team has played them several times (along with the others in the top 5), and Coppermine has been the best. Check the records from the summer and fall tournament seasons. They play hard, but fair. Impressive group. New season, and I get the respect for M&D as defending champs, but Coppermine deserves the respect they have earned.

M&D is defending champs of what? They didn’t win the NGLL last year. EagleStix won.

Watching and playing all the top 5 teams I think EagleStix and Coppermine are interchangeable at 1/2. I suppose it will get settled this summer.

Considering the forum has been discussing the midatlantic NGLL…and it started today…pretty obvious that is what they were talking about. But thank you for your astute observations.

After today you need to update at least 2 of these. Stars Beat hero’s white and coppermine beat hero’s green.

M&D beat Coppermine in the NGLL mid Atlantic championship last year, so they are also well coached and will be there in the end again. Coppermine is a good team but they aren’t an automatic lock for the NGLL championship

A welcome change with some peace and quiet from that green circus.

Other than the random haters you get from all side on a site like this, the Skywalker's org and families don't want to admit that Coppermine has overtaken them as a club.
