When you say that Stanford and Jacksonville don’t belong in the Top 25 that’s fine but you’d have to post who does belong that’s not currently listed in the top 25.

Good luck with that.

Maryland played Drexel and only won by 6 (keeping her key players in), Cuse played Binghamton and won by 7 and pulled her starters in the 4th quarter (where Binghamton scored 7 goals). Everyone wants to put MD on a pedestal that they don't always belong on.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Izzy Scane – Northwestern University

Scane tied a program-high of 10 goals in the No. 5 Wildcats' 18-14 season-opening victory over No. 14 Notre Dame. Scane tallied eight of her 10 goals in the second half and added two assists, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Northwestern shifted up to No. 3 in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll this week.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Meaghan Tyrrell – Syracuse University

Tyrrell played a role in 11 of No. 4 Syracuse's 20 goals in a win over No. 2 Maryland. She scored three goals and had two assists in the first 12 minutes as the Orange took a 6-2 lead. Five of her points came in the second half as Syracuse pulled away for its second consecutive win against a top-five opponent. Syracuse shifted up to the No. 2 slot in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll this week.

Defensive Player of the Week

Meghan Ball – Rutgers University

Ball set program records for career caused turnovers (111) and career draw controls (230) with eight draw controls and six caused turnovers in a 15-8 win over Georgetown. Ball tied a single-game program record for caused turnovers in a game and set a personal best with seven in the win over Monmouth. Ball has now caused three or more turnovers in 19 career games.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Parker Moore – Brevard College

Moore’s single-game notch of eight goals (one shy of program record) and three assists in the 19-18 season-opening win against Randolph was marked as a top-five performance in program history, tying Brevard’s single-game record of 11. Moore scored the game-winning free-position shot with 1:31 left to play to earn the victory for the Tornados.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Addie Pastor – Albion College

The senior midfielder set a program record for most goals and points in a single game for the Britons, scoring 13 goals and assisting on three to record 16 total points in the 23-3 win over Hanover.

Defensive Player of the Week

Actually, Maryland does belong on a pedestal. One play, one game, one season does not make a program. Maryland is by far the best women's lacrosse program in the history of the sport. Are they the best this year? Who knows, as the post above says "time will tell" and "that's why they play the games".

One thing is very obvious on this forum, way too many post originate from a place of jealousy.

Preseason & weekly rankings especially early season rankings are a joke and do not count for anything. The only rankings that holds any weight are the "Final" rankings at the end of the season after all of the games have been played.

Honestly other than a few more games to base their opinion on the final rankings are still just opinion and dont mean that much other than the champion who has earned that spot. That said the rankings are generally pretty accurate .

Let’s see to start. Penn State and Ohio State. Probably add UPenn as well. Don’t think my original statement was outlandish. They are only there because they’re in the west and they are tryin to push interest out there. They are a good team and a great school. If you can’t see that because you have a daughter plays there that’s your issue.

You can acknowledge that Maryland is the best program of all time while also saying they are overrated this year and should not have been ranked that high coming into the season.

Time will tell with this year's team but history should not be factored in as much with current rankings unless those historical players find another year of eligibility and take the field.

Not sure why someone can’t post a comment on here about a team without them getting upset. Whether it’s Maryland, Stanford, insert your daughter’s team here. Stop taking it so personal. Everyone has an opinion. Doesn’t mean it’s right. And they’re not talking about your daughter so get over it.

I get it. Coming from club, West coast teams are usually overrated. Stanford one of the tops academically.

have one more year to deal with this. 2024 will be the last of Covid extra year grads/transfers. there are many 21's and 22's that not getting the playing time they normally would have. the good coaches will find a way to get them some time so they are ready when they are needed after 2024.

The reality is many of these 21’s & 22’s will stop playing by then due to frustration of sitting on the sidelines and the remaining ones won’t be ready due to lack of college game experience. They will be juniors and seniors and will passed over by incoming talented freshmen coming off 4 full years of high school playing time. Especially the freshmen who played in competitive high school conferences like the IAAM. The really are the athletic victims of Covid.

Will be very interesting to see how Maryland does against Florida today. If the game is close, Maryland is in serious trouble. Looking at Maryland’s social media, there is a new coach favorite in Freshmen #14.

The majority of attacks that attempt to knock a team are personal. They attacks may very well be the "opinion" of someone but they are most certainly personal in nature and they are intended to tear a team and the players down. IMHO the people who come on here to bash a team do it to try to elevate (indirectly) their own daughters team. Looks to me that some people have an inferiority complex due to the school that their daughter attends and the team she plays for.

I would bet that the majority of parents that try to knock schools / teams like Maryland and Stanford have daughters who attend or will be attending two schools in particular.

Can you guess which two schools/programs ? They are neither the best academic schools or the best lacrosse schools but the parents can't stand it so they attack the others in an effort to elevate where their daughters school/team.

I was there. Clemson is good. They would have won if they had not got the 3 yellows in the 4th. They move the ball well and the goalie is very good. ND is ok, a .500 team at best in the ACC and a weak OOC schedule.

Clemson is a top 20 team right now but will only last for this year then they will fall off like Pitt. If you look at their roster it’s made up of players who have lots of D1 experience .

Pretty simple. West Coast teams are always ranked higher than they should be, whether club or college.

Lol okay sorry your daughter’s club team is ranked lower than a west coast team. But I do agree that the rankings are an imperfect system.

That statement reminds me of an old saying, something about the "if the Queen had you know what, she would be the King"....

So let me get this straight, you state that "Clemson is good" and then you state "ND is ok".... I assume that in your mind "ok" is better than "good"....
We are all very happy that you were there but your post is absurd.

I get it. Coming from club, West coast teams are usually overrated. Stanford one of the tops academically.[

What are you even trying to say? Are you comparing club lacrosse to college lacrosse?!?

Pretty simple. West Coast teams are always ranked higher than they should be, whether club or college.

What teams are these West Coast College Teams always ranked higher than? The reality is that there is very little parity in this sport, very few programs outside the traditional Top 10 - 20 Programs are able to consistently compete with and break into that group.

I was there. Clemson is good. They would have won if they had not got the 3 yellows in the 4th. They move the ball well and the goalie is very good. ND is ok, a .500 team at best in the ACC and a weak OOC schedule.

Considering the talent ND has the game should not have been close. For a 1st year team Clemson is good. they were up 9-7 in the 4th before the 1st of the 3 yellow cards. All 3 cards were legit calls so Clemson has to work on those situations. Clemson will be a better team than ND in 2 years. ND is the jeckyll and hide of the ACC.

Let's not forget ND in 2022 ND had to schedule some weak, late games against the likes of Detroit Mercy to even hit .500 to make the tournament. Clemson had only played cupcakes prior to the ND game. Both are decent teams, but I don't expect Clemson to dominate anything other than low level match-ups--most of the harder games should be scrappy and interesting to watch!

My only hope is ND doesn't make the tourney this year, but that's just personal bias.

ND will lose to UNC, BC, Cuse, UVA and Duke. they will probably lose another ACC game they shouldn't. The have a weak out of conf scheduled beside NW who rolled over ND. ND will be 9-7

Did anyone else catch UM vs Central Michigan yesterday? UM barely escaped with a 6-5 win over a plucky CMU team. The CMU goalie had at least 14 saves and broke a school record (stated on the broadcast). Jill didn't dress for Michigan and it was a factor. The team appears to be a little one dimensional if she's out and it's partially a testament to her talents, I guess.

Overall, I cannot fathom how they move up a slot in rankings when they barely beat CMU in a game that was tied 5-5 at the end of the 3rd. Hannah has a lot of work to do to get this team running offensively, although the defense was decent.

Any thoughts?

Which confirms how subjective polls can be.

Example of how polls can be subjective? In Division II Adelphi played two quality teams just below them in the polls last week and lost both games. Both teams jumped ahead of Adelphi in the IWLCA poll and now have a record of 0-2 but still received one 1st place vote.

Watching a bunch of the games and have been watching some of the preseason AA mid field players. Seems strange to me that many are not what I think of as a midfielder ie they really dont play both sides of the ball. Seems to me they are actual attack players who coaches say are midfielders, is this done to help them get those post season awards ? I say this because alot of the post season awards are based on stats and its alot easier to compare stats with actual 2 way middies then the Scane ,Tyrels of the world. That said it seems unfair to the actual 2 way players who are often in a rotation etc .Curious what others think.
