you're funny. do you think that lacrosse teams who play with a man advantage when the other team gets a penalty are cheaters too?

That is not good holdback logic

Anyone from Madlax that complains needs to check themselves...you all have been rolling out a kid WAY bigger and stronger than everyone for years.

BTW- we all know what's going to happen this summer. Madlax going to lose in Hocon (??) and then pull the "guest" players in for the summer. All because they would rather inflate their record than win/lose with their own kids. And the world turns...
I’ll say it again. Madlax has one kid on the roster who has ever been in the 2027 class. We all know who it is. So just stop with the reclass accusations you’re just flat out wrong.
We all know the entire Hawks attack is reclassed, 30% of Crabs are, and a few from Madlax. But it sounds like FCA has taken the cake on the holdbacks this year.

Our LI boys know what a scam you guys run. It’s all good. We just play you for fun. Doesn’t matter if you “win” because they know it’s cheating.

Sometimes Tourney Machine reports scores backward. But why does Madlax choose to play B team tournament in DE same weekend they could have played vs HoCo teams in MD?

LInhas one team even REMOTELY competitive off the island. Venom. Great team. Rest are bottom feeders that can’t give the top 10 teams from MD a game.

Hawks lost two games to b level teams today. Presumably, they were missing seven or eight kids to other sports or other commitments. If not, what happened? Fall lacrosse is a bit of a joke, anything can happen I suppose.

I'm sure Hawks vs Predators is going be very exciting hahah

Team 91 MD gets to see how good they are. Are they elite? Hawks will tell them.

First look at the new BLC squad. New head coach and new additions from other squads. Preds, VLC and FCA White may not be much of a test for them.
BLC vastly improved but I’m not sure they’re head and shoulders above ANYONE at this stage.

I recall BLC beat Preds 17-2 a year ago, so let's see what the differential is this year.

BLC and Team MD are hard to really judge at the moment in terms of where they belong.

The bucket of 91/FCA White / Predators / VLC all seems to make sense though.
The score was 13-4 and they are much improved. Madlax was actually the much better than BLC in that tournament. Did No. 47 from Madlax go to Hawks?

Much improved but went from beating Preds 14-÷3 last year to 4-4 tie this year. BLC= elite

When was the last time BLC went 3-0 in a tournament?

Hopefully there is a playoff bracket and BLC gets a crack at Crabs. Will be a good barometer of how much better they actually got.
BLC dad....if Preds, FCA White or VLC comes close to beating BLC you guys can erase the Elite button.

elite button erased

tied Preds 4-4

Pretty funny you forgot to delete your first sick burn response from the comment window before thinking of an even awesomer one. ZING! Take that, BLC!

Hope you can take a minute and reflect what it says about you that you’re writing not one but two posts bagging on a kids lax team.

Clearly you're new here. I think you might find more than two posts bagging on lax teams, after their Dads proclaimed that team's guaranteed ascension to D1 recruitment, HoCo championship 6 months from now, etc.

So by the way, what brings you here? What rigorous academic analysis are you working on, regarding 2028 youth lax. Or are you just here gossiping like everyone else.

Long answer: Not sure. Hawks parents commented that they lost "half the team" this year. My kid recognized at least one kid as the "go to shooter" for Richmond Hawks, playing for Annapolis Hawks. So maybe??? they pulled up Richmond kids, who with 2 exceptions, are not at regular Hawks levels.

However the counterpoint to that would be that they were not short of players, counted 17 on the sideline in addition to 10 on the field.

And that the Hawks best players were certainly there and playing.

And the company who owns Hawks organized the tournament, so it's not like Hawks' participation was thrown together at the last minute and half the boys were on a St. Marys school band trip or something. And with the roster sizes this year, the "we were missing guys" schtick is just an excuse. Build a roster that can withstand absences and injuries if you have any intention of playing at a high level. Hawks know what they are doing when they build rosters.

My question is, logistically, the area that Hawks pulls from (mostly), Southern MD and the eastern shore and Annapolis, doesn't have a lot of other great options for club ball at 2028. If they lost "half the team", where in the world would they go?

And why? Inarguably one of the top 10 teams in the country 6 months ago. Have heard zero rumors of "real" issues until the "we lost half the team" comments yesterday.

How does losing to a team outside the top 130 impact Madlax's ranking? Does this mean they could fall from 2 to 3?

Probably more than that. They have no 2029 team. King Krab will probably cut 75% of them next year just to ensure he has a 2029 team next year.

Problem solved.

Can you clarify this? A holdback is any kid that should be in the grade that their birthdate dictates. Just because they were held back in kindergarten vs. 7th grade doesn't make them on age. Anyone born before 9/1/2009 is a holdback. Crabs may not have kids that are repeating 7th THIS year but I am imagining they're older than you're claiming. Holdbacks are legal and the norm now, so no shame in it, but just be honest Crabs parent.

There is for certain at least one player that fits this profile on that roster.

I love to lampoon ML, but the answer is probably "not much." The top MD teams (aside from NL) play - and beat - so much good competition from season to season that losing a game is not problematic.

Also, at this age, what really is the difference between the #2, #5, #11 team nationally unless they are all playing the same event or league that has a serious playoff structure.

If your kid's team is in the top 25 nationally, they are certainly in the top 10 between Atlanta and Philly and the top 2-3 in MD. In other words, relax.

you’d be hard pressed to find 5 teams at AAA or higher where every kid is born after 9/1/2009.

91 MD is Elite!

91 is much improved, between the players they got from Kelly Post and the players they got from Predators

Somehow, Predators is also apparently improved, between players they got from 91, and players they got from Kelly Post

FCA White, is also apparently improved, despite losing players to Crabs and picking up players from Predators and Blue Claws.

And honestly, Crabs seems to be better too, picking up kids from FCA White and Kelly Post.

Very interesting to see. None of these teams as good as Hawks, ML, or NL but all substantially better than a year ago.

It also helps when you play the best kids. Makes a world of difference in the level of play.

Yes, this is a fact. And once you allow one onto a team, for any reason (academic, social, psychological, athletics), then that is the standard and here we are.

Also a fact: no one in the youth lax power structure is devoted to changing it. In terms of "actually spending energy or resources to change this."

Go back and read the comments on the US Club Lax IG post on this topic, from August I think. What you'll see is a very hypocritical public face of many, many club coaches claiming to be "all for age based lax" but these are currently the coaches whose rosters are up to about 1/3 holdbacks. When your kid plays at a very high level and then loses his spot to a double holdback from literally across the country, and a single holdback from a neighboring state, you have to come to terms with it. Which was our family in August this year. Oh well?

So............tilt at this windmill at your own risk. Things are not going to change until the era when we become grandparents. Or never at all.

But there IS shame in it. It’s parents declaring “my child isn’t good enough academically/physically/athletically so I’m going to have them compete with younger kids where he can be more competitive.”

It’s the most beta move it can think of for people who are doing the thing to make them feel like an alpha. Pathetic! Weak gene pool.

So a kid with an Aug/July 09 birthday that started Kindergarten a little later is weak and dense?

Can we PLEASE cease with the played out holdback talk and talk more about interesting things like the 91 Maryland team that beat Hawks yesterday (or the Hawks team that lost to a non-elite team)? The same 91 MD team that beat Hawks and FCA got blown off the field by Crabs in their third game of the day. I'd love to hear more about the improvements to the Crabs team, too. So much more interesting stuff to discuss than whiny or jaded holdback bs.

Largely agree but there's a large group of holdback families who are so wealthy that none of this matters. Including our opinion of the matter. in 7 years their kid will be recruited to ride the bench at a D1 school where every man in their family has attended and "played lax" for 100 years, and 4-6 years later, that kid will show up to begin taking over the family company/firm. Nobody will have a student loan, nobody will care what it cost the family, and nobody will care whether the young lawyer / MBA / CPA is 24 or 26 or 27 years old. I'm anti-holdback, but I don't think this is beta at all. It's using resources you have to build the legacy you can. #capitalism

But the first thing I think of with the beta holdback parents you mention, is how they don't like to talk about the kids' birthdays. They will just clam up. Happens on cue. Why be sneaky about it if you're not ashamed of it.
