It would be a complete disaster for US club lacrosse to ignore the safety concerns of holdbacks physically assaulting younger kids after the Tua situation in the NFL. Concussions are real. Playing your 15 yr old against a 13yr old is a safety concern. Regardless of how badly you want your son to get into a good school. You can always have your kid play tetherball since US Club Tetherball always looks out for the kids.

This age thing has nothing to do with usa lacrosse.
It’s about one tournament. The circuit. And they are forcing you to pay to show your kids age and grade.
Which is fine.
But saying it is a sweeping change is a lie. It’s just to make some money on this circuit tournament boondoggle.

The Circuit actually thinks the 3 exception rule is light years better than what it has been. The original discussion started with class and then worked its way back to a combination of age and class. A couple of clubs argued hard for class only but the June 1 date and 3 exceptions was accepted as a compromise. Current participating teams will largely look the same and teams like Red Hots and Nationals will scramble to attract their 3 exceptions since a good chunk of their roster participate for multiple teams. I dare anyone to show me where this exception rule is or even any kind of age cutoff. I’ve seen nothing to substantiate any of this. I don't know what to tell you. We received an email from the team director stating the rules and there is a register process from Authenticate asking for proof of class and a birth certificate. I guess that's good news in that I might be the only Circuit parent reading this board. You aren't. The register process is legit. Its run by Nike...they aren't going to have a hand in the cheating.

They have some kids from good teams? Doesn’t make them a good team. This is just a money grab from national clubs . Some of these clubs are getting at least 40,000$ per team and then making you pay for gear and entry fee for each tournament. It’s a joke.

Every kid on a national team plays for a regional team. In NJ, the Red Hots had 18 players with 13 different helmets. Some of their Saturday players play for 5 different teams. Same went for 3d NE. Their top 3 players also play for True National, and their local team and who knows who else. I am willing to bet these kids pick a team for the PA Circuit thing and then show up on a different roster for the next Circuit event and then pick a final 4 team for the final event.

And what is the fascination with following NCAA rules instead of youth rules for MS lacrosse? The refs stinkat this level already and watching them allow swinging 1 handed wrap checks while riding is disturbing.

What's wrong with watching a 16yr old one hand wrap check a 14yr old? Don't you want your son to get recruited?

whatever, but I have not seen very many Hoco AA teams who beat Madlax or come within one of Hawks; that's all I'm saying. Let's hope Madlax has a better fall than they did last year. A couple AA teams gave them games.

The Circuit update. BBL backed out because they couldn't field a competitive team under the rules: June 1 2008 cutoff with 3 older exceptions. Red Hots were the best as they fielded a much different squad than the one in NJ a few weeks ago. They had a good mix of Baltimore and Hawks stars. The fee to play with them was minimal. Nation's Best had the largest number of teams under their 3Step umbrella but got rolled by Red Hots. Team 18 and Project MW were a distant 3rd and 4th but had some really good players. Nationals has really faded as their best players left because of the cost and the dense decisions of the management with regard to rosters. The rest of the field really drops fast. 3d Nationals barely field a team of 15 and didn't resemble the NJ team at all. Where were those giants playing middie and pole?
Several of the teams were asking for free agents the days before the tournament. The age and class verification dropped a bunch of players. One conversation overheard was how players tried to register by saying they were reclassing this year and how other tournaments allowed this practice. No go here.
The other truly noticeable item was the size of the players. Without the future re-classes; the current 9th graders playing down due to verification of class; and the 3 player exception on June1; the players on the field were much physically smaller than any summer tournament I've been to in years. The play on the field got better after games 1 and 2 as teams got to know each other a little more.

It had everything to do with the quality of the teams entered in the tournament. They found a much more competitive tournament down in DE, it’s that simple. If Red Hots is beating everyone by 15 that tells you all you need to know. And that Nationals team wasn’t National at all, just local kids and none of the top PA kids play for them.

That BBL comment was pretty dense. They made it to the finals of the World Series last year under more stringent age/location rules. Doubt they are not in the Circuit because they couldn’t field a competitive on-age team. Get a clue.

It's debatable whether BBL found better competition in Delaware. They went 5-0 and beat three teams (Sweetlax Carolina, Sweetlax Florida, MadLax) by a combined score of 43-4. I would be willing to bet that all three of those teams have plenty of holdbacks, yet BBL's on age team was not challenged at all. So certainly those games were not good competition. Then BBL had a decent game against Sweetlax Upstate (11-7), and a one goal win over Team 10. Would BBL have rolled through the Circuit field that easily?

Look at those scores. Why would BBL play there in that when they can play in a tournament with Sweetlax, Madlax, Team Ten and LI Express? And stop with the age thing, they went o WS finals this summer

If the competition is better in a regular tournament than the Circuit, then the Circuit will be toast.
How many of the players on Circuit teams are pulled from regular teams like MadLax, NextLevel, Hawks? If they are just recycling the same players and the level of competition is worse, it seems a waste of time and money.

And everyone else they played. Really? I am confused, according to tourney app, BBL played in a Delaware event and went 5-0, with three blowout wins, and then two closer wins. A PP observed that it appears both events had some good teams and some bad. But I don't see a BBL team on tourney app for the Circuit event, so where/when was the Red Hots/BBL game played? In any event, it sounds like you are a Red Hots parents, so can you share where the team gets its players and what its model is? It looks to me like all the Circuit teams are national or regional all star teams, and the differentiator between teams that are winning (Red Hots) and teams that are losing (Nations Best, Nationals) is their ability to sign up the best national players from other teams, and then get them to show up. At the next Circuit event, the winners and losers could be reversed, based on who comes and who stays home. Am I understanding it correctly?

The BBL team's WS roster wasn't anywhere close to their regular traveling roster. None of the WS teams are close except for the LI teams and even they are different by about 4-5 players. BBL was in the Circuit and pulled out becasue of the rails put in place.
The Red Hots were a failed age group club who changed their model to the national team thing. They are as good as the players who show up for that day. In NJ, they easily beat and beat up a good Next Level team and then were easily beat the next day by NL because 4 players went to play for another team somewhere else. Then none of those players showed for the Circuit because they were too old. But RH pulled in a bunch of HoCo kids by barely charging anything.
The comment about the level of play was spot on. It was just okay amongst the best teams and poor at the bottom. It will have staying power because parents will spend the money. Especially parents of players from non-lacrosse areas, they are willing to do anything to get their kids quality play.

That's true to a large extent. There is a verification system in place to make sure a player didn't play this past weekend on one team and then shows up on a different roster at the next event. That took out some players too from participating.

BBL 2027 couldn’t field a national level team that they were going to be happy with for The Circuit 2 tournament to be played In December in Naples, FL. They didn’t want to risk their this seasons national rankings one would think. Every other BBL team competed in The Circuit did well but not the best it looks like on tourney machine standings. The BBL World Series team was really good but not as good as last years winning BBL Naptown team. Ineligible BBL World Series players up and down Naptown finals roster vs Team PA.

"that I heard" - so you are relying on a parent to tell you how close it was? 7 goals is not close at this level. It is a thorough win.
Madlax's problem remains the dad coach and it's too late to fix. Too many good players have left and adding the mercenary from Richmond and adding him to attack doesn't help. That family demanded he play attack, rarely shows for practice and ruins cohesion. 21 goals in 4 games isn't fun for anyone.

I saw a few FCA helmets, but didn't recognize most of the helmets. I believe their one attackman was from Utah and the kid was filthy.

Re the BBL vs. ML game. Some of your facts are incorrect.
1.) The Richmond "mercenary" doesn't play attack and he's been on the team for years (also not from Richmond). He travels to practice regularly in spring and summer, but misses a lot in the fall because of football....like a sizeable portion of the team, unfortunately.
2.) ML was up at halftime over BBL by several goals. You got the complete coach meltdown and joy stick coaching correct. It cost us the game in OT. In fact, it never would have gone to OT if he just let them play. ML had the upper hand most of the game. Regardless, BBL is good team and deserved to win. They have improved a lot.
3.) Two kids left and went to BLC that played attack and attack/middie. They did indeed leave because the coach just decided out of the blue that his son was going to be starting attack. The attack/middie is better than said son and his parents simply had enough of it. However, it is a sore subject with the other attackmen who get less PT in the rotation because of the move and is/will be an ongoing issue.

BBL beat Madlax 9-2 in a game that I heard was a little closer than the final score - but obviously still a decisive win. To bring this back to the mid-Atlantic, I was surprised Madlax didn't perform better. They beat BBL in July, seemed to be getting better as the summer went on, and they didn't lose any players of consequence between summer and fall. From their scores in DE, it looks like their offense is struggling. 21 goals in 4 games isn't fun for anyone.[/quote] Dude - the original poster did say it was "obviously still a decisive win". Sounds like you have a personal issue with the dad coach. Maybe you should take that somewhere else and avoid singling out 8th graders with incorrect information.

Red Hots 2028’s beat the pants off BBL nationals 15-6 was 15-2 in the 4th but they felt bad for them Saw that Red Hots team dismantle BBL 2028. They are LEGIT. Where are the kids from? I saw a few FCA helmets, but didn't recognize most of the helmets. I believe their one attackman was from Utah and the kid was filthy. I’m sure RH28’s are legendary, take it to the 28 board

Dude, the statement is the equivalent of “no offense, but…(insert offensive statement” in trying to have it both ways. And yes, I think the coach ruined the team and is now resorting to bringing in players and families which add little to no benefit. 2-2-1 with 21 GF. Incorrect?

So now the families bring no benefit either? Wow. Have you actually met them?
