Any new faces at these tryouts? Hearing Next Level might have picked up a few players, but won’t move the needle. BLC might have picked up 2-3 significant upgrades. Madlax nothing new, nobody seems to want to go there.

Rumor....could be wrong...is that it's only 5 27s holding back. RUMOR. As for Predator, FCA etc, rosters aren't out yet but offers are certainly out. We'll know in a week.

Crabs picked up one 27 who is actually a 28. No other 27s.

I don't believe this is accurate. Heard multiple kids on the 27 team were "coming down" to the 28s, including two attackman. Also, the 27 assistant coach was at tryouts, so i assume others as well. Whether those kids reclassed or not, is a different question.

It seems like the reply function is busted, so briefly:
Crabs: The idea that a good athlete at a well-run club is playing "up" at this age (and then suddenly playing back down to his real age) is ridiculous. If he's a performer, his "on age" club coach would be barking to get him on the correct team. If he's a bench rider, the club director would coax his parents into getting him on the on-age team. Even at lower level clubs like Koopers and Breakers, you only have kids playing "up" if there is no team for them to play "down." At a club like Crabs, absolutely, the kid is holding back for whatever reason. July birthday yada yada, whatever.
KP: kids are indeed on the move. The "KP 91 coup group" landed just fine. 1-2 other KP kids added at 91 tryouts. Predators and 91 each offered a spot to about 40-50% of KP kids (who tried out). FCA offered fewer spots to KP kids....more selective (I think all to FCA White). 0 KP kids going to Crabs. From what I understand, the KP parents are pretty surprised that the KP players did not get more consideration from Crabs and FCA Blue. I'm not as surprised.......it was a nearly elite team full of above-average athletes, well trained and well coached.

Is Breakers new? In NoVA, the St. James is also apparently trying to start a team. Do we really need more dilution?

Breakers and Crabs are among the oldest existing youth lax clubs in the entire region. Breakers had a series of great (or infamous) coaches and a lot of success in terms of D1-D3 recruits through about 2013, leveled off through about 2019, and has been in a spiral since then. Crabs is following the same pattern, more slowly, but at a more elite level.
Breakers 2028 team started to fall apart in 2019 when the team went from 3 coaches to 1. Wasn't totally for lack of talent - the roster contained current players on Crabs, FCA Blue, 91, FCA White, Predators, Sidewinders etc. The team added coaches who were - get this - current HS players. The team folded after the HoCo 2021 season.
Crabs 2029 had a similar experience in 2020-2021....toxic coach who then cut most of the roster after the next year's tryouts, leading to the coach's firing and the rest of the kids quitting Crabs. That team has also folded.

FCA will be improved. But IMO, the talent at tryouts wasn't good enough to overtake Crabs. And as long as the Holy Roller is plays his son as a starter, they aren't getting to the next level.

Rebels bought MDX? I missed that one.
One of my sons has guest played with MDX at 2027 in the past. Seem like a nice crowd of coaches, players, and parents. While they cover a large geography, it must be difficult to constantly be in the shadow of Team MD who covers the same geography.
Wonder what Rebels' goals are for the club.

Tryouts overall....no surprises at the Elite level.
Sub-elite......It's humorous how FCA White, Predators, and Team 91 are unofficially trading players to each other. Each of those 3 teams picked up kids from the other 2 teams. AAA Hoco rosters are as fluid as AAA Baseball!
Rec-plus level........sad to see Hurricane True rip through the landscape.
Rec Clubs......why don't you guys add at least a 9th grade team? Word is BLC has picked up 3-4 players from other elite clubs (Madlax and at least one 2027 reclass). While they had a long, long way to go, this should at least firm up their place in HoCo Elite division. If they can pick up another 2-3 solid players, they could be competitive. Wouldn’t be surprised to see NL lose a few to BLC, they have a good new coach and these kids all know one another (Madlax-BLC-Next Level)

This is BLC's last year together. 8th grade shifts to DC Express which is a different team with different coaches.

Picking up bottom of the roster NL or Madlax players is not going to improve your team and isn’t going to make you elite. You are just subjecting your kids to another season of losing nearly every game . . . But you do you.

DC Dogs was just the name of MadLax’s 2023 team. Just like 91 calls a few of its teams Fire. It’s just another branding thing.

DC Dogs was just the name of MadLax’s 2023 team. Just like 91 calls a few of its teams Fire. It’s just another branding thing. The Madlax 2023 team is called DC Dogs because it was originally Club Blue. When club blue folded, Madlax bought it/took over the team and called it DC Dogs. The original Madlax 2023 team then was folded into the DC Dogs. So it is an artifact of the original club blue origin and not a think they are likely to use again unless Cabel decides he likes that branding for some reason.

Young and energetic I’m told. Played at Duke. Like the Predators of 2021, the talk of DC But this team WILL be vastly improved over last year. I doubt about it. And yea, the 2-3 kids they’re getting from Madlax will be their best players. Great to have some additional parity in the neighborhood
