All kinds of BS flying on the sidelines this week:
Loyola HC is out. Calvert Hall is buying Concordia and opening a middle school.
Discuss. Nothing to discuss. Both assertions are untrue albeit salacious. LB administration gave their HC a vote of confidence (teacher contracts are already renewed) and CHC would face backlash from the Archiocesean schools (like LB did in the 80s) if they tried to open a middle school. Teacher contracts are not related to coaching positions at LB. Please keep the current coach! Sincerely, The rest of the MIAA Agreed. He is AWESOME!!.

Didn't Gilman beat Loyola this season with less talent? Loyola had the best defensive personnel in the league and over a dozen kids headed to D1 programs and they couldn't make the playoffs. Meanwhile Severn had bubblegum and duct tape.

Nothing to do with the rec league coaching.

I guess just wondering which ones were worth while Best advice is that they are all different and all different for each player and where he wants to go. If you have no idea where you are thinking of going, go to as many as you can. Most have coaches there but I doubt you get a look by any D1 school. Most better D1 already have their hooks into who they want, very few go to showcases to see anything except the players they are already interested in. Most of these showcases are a waste of time for the majority of players who think they will get discovered.

Both have a ton of kids who seem to underperform these days.

Will be interesting to see if they have similar success.

Depth was clearly their issue.

What was once storied programs are now out of control dumpster fires according to many.

LB had a weak face off game and an often disappearing team defense. All four teams in the semis had both better FOGOs and keepers. LBs settled offense, when they got the ball, was generally anemic and out moded. They didn't generate enough transition offense out of some great individual defenders to bridge the gap on settled offense.
One of their top LSMs could have easily insisted on being inserted at the X to stop the bleeding in the face off game. I've seen the individuals on their D play during the Summer and they know how to play proper team D. Sliding fast to a shorty or an overmatched or picked opponent is defensive lacrosse 101. The same applies to desgning game plans and finalizing match ups. Kids these days watch a ton of film, go to a ton of college level clinics, know how to play the proper way and have awareness of themselves as a unit. If the HC or coordinators don't do it, the team's leaders need to step forward and have the units self correct. Part of becoming a leader is learning how and when to build consensus to challenge the status quo if it isn't working.

I would not send my kid to that school until they get it together. Otherwise you will end up transferring like so many kids have.
