Congratulations to MadLax. But serious question, how can the MadLax 2028 team be so dominant on the national level, while the ML 2027 and 2026 teams have fallen off so badly. MadLax 2027 was blown out in Hoco by NextLevel and Hawks, and this weekend at NAL, they played only one nationally prominent team, 91 Long Island Machine, and 91 beat ML twice, 7-0 and 9-1. (yes, MadLax just one goal scored in two games). And, then 91 itself got crushed 13-3 by West Coast stars, so I detest to to think what WCS would have done to MadLax. And the MadLax 2026 team was awful in Hoco, going 2-5, and the only team that FCA could beat, and today at NAL MadLax was blown out 19-7 by a 91 Long Island team. The 2027 and 2026 teams used to be competitive on a national level, but something happened. Why the disparity between the 2028 team and the other two?

Because they’re all on the 2028 teams!!!!

Funny quip, and good theory, but not true. I know both rosters and there is not a single 2028 player who came from 2027 or 2026. So I am stills scratching my head as to why 2028 is so much on the way up and other two are on the way down.

Here’s a theory. Madlax is actually extremely good at the very young ages. 28-‘31 etc. The 24s used to be the number one team in the country. I think what happens is, they gradually lose kids to other teams for whatever reasons, some might point to the executive Director who has a reputation. Either way there’s a steady churn as they get older, and not a lot of recruiting. The 24 team lost three or four of their best players to next level due to a coaching dynamic. Those kids also play at St Johns who is coached by the Director of next level.

It sounds like MadLax *National* smoked Venom. If we're doing rankings that include national teams then maybe they should be #1 and MadLax Cap should be in the 8-10 range.

Now that we’ve covered NAL in depth— anyone have color on Adrenaline? FCA got rolled, as did Next Level. I’m fact NL went 2-3.

True National Black would have beaten anyone at NAL.

WCS isn’t as good as True but very very strong.

Does True National Black have any Maryland kids?

Madlax has been doing this for a few years at least. HoCo teams are locally based kids, once summer hits you start to get the "out of towers" coming in, sometimes they play as Madlax Capital and sometimes as Nationals when they get the full complement of "out of towners" in. Trying to equate spring league teams to summer league teams just does not work. This is not a bash Madly comment as more and more teams are doing this, as this age group gets older you will see it more and more and come summer you just never know what you are going to get, it is one of the reasons rankings are a bit silly and a little bit all over the place.

I wouldn't say Madlax "smoked" venom, and also would not say Venom "smoked" the Hawks. Being there I would guess the only people talking like that are from the Madlax side

ML CAP's biggest downfall is their FO. They did decently at NAL (by no means dominant) but neither of the two "ringers" are FO guys. Without question ML's attack, LSM and defense is better than any team in HOCO. The numbers prove it. Otherwise the scores would be much worse losing 80-90% of the FOs during the spring season against those teams. Again, ML knows their problem and have been working with the kids to fix it. If they get anywhere close to even at the dot the Hawks, NL, etc won't win a single game again. That's a fact.

Who does your "out of town" defender play for when Madlax bumps into Texas Nationals in one of these tournaments? The kid literally played against 91 Venom last weekend with Tx Nationals and Madlax this weekend.

Incorrect. NL LSM is the best and NL top 3 close defenders better than Madlax. ML attack is good against defenses that overplay since they move the ball very well, but all the starters are pretty small, not particularly fast, and none a real dodging threat. Venom attack group is better. Madlax pretty even with Hawks and FCA among HoCo teams.

No. It’s not a fact.

Agree that the ML parents' hyperbole is annoying, but I am surprised that they do not recruit an out of town FO middie. One player would make a huge impact and they ought to be able to find somebody east of the Mississippi who can dominate face offs and whose family would enjoy weekend trips to lacrosse tournaments.

Yeah, Madlax attack is so good that they have to bring in attackmen from 4 Leaf to win them a t shirt. And Madlax D is so dominant that they need Texans to come in and start for them. Madlax parents like to beat their chests in the fall while other teams have kids playing football. They beat their chests in the summer when they bring in outside ringers in to win for them. Yet they haven't won a meaningful HOCO playoff game since second grade. Why is that?

No ringers except top attackMan who was out all hoco. Midfield and a Tall D combined with #20 were not going to be stopped. Tough kids!

Did Texas nationals beat venom like Madlax? He’s good. He’s fast. Skills not as good as other Madlax D. He’s not 5 point difference. The nasty attack attack and middies gave the game to Madlax

I don’t think Madlax 28 are worried. They got their a team healthy and are back. 1 or 2 guest players who won’t be w them all summer but neither were 4-6 goal differences. Parents were all well behaved.

This seems a bit harsh. Madlax has won plenty of big Hoco games over the years. They are a good team, just not a dominant one. They have a lot of nice families, but also a few who like to come on here and troll and pretend the team is better than it really is. Good on them for winning NAL!

I saw the games. Don’t know who the 4 leaf kid is but the tx defender is a game changer. From cutting off plays to ground balls to being the fastest kid on the field he was worth more than a few goals.

If he’s a true Madlax player and not a Texas nationals player, they will be tough to beat. It’s a VERY different defense without him.

If he’s playing for tx nationals at Naptown it just proves he’s a rental player and not on the Madlax team, hence the pushback for the argument that Madlax showed up with their national team pretending to be Madlax capital to help their rankings.

Kid playing for ML from 4Leap isn't an attackman. He plays on midfield. Bloviate on, Bloviator. You don't like the facts because your kid left ML because he couldn't get field time playing attack. And yes, ML defense does dominate. They kept the toughest games close winning what, maybe 20% of the faceoffs? Seems dominant to me.

The TX long pole defender is an exceptional athlete and is not new to ML. I don't have a problem with him playing with ML during tourney season. That's how club lacrosse works.

You’re correct and no need to explain yourself. The only issue is these kids play on other club teams- which team will they play on if both in same tourney? Should all the teams look for ringers from other clubs each week. It’s not illegal but just takes some of the fair competition out of it (opinion).

I assume this is True National Black? Seems like the True model might be working. . . Although somewhat similar to what Madlax is doing. But at least in this case unlike Madlax True is labeling its teams properly.

There is absolutely NOTHING similar between Madlax and True National Black. TNB is a national team with kids from 6-7 different True teams from all over the country. Madlax is a team of 20 kids from DC, and they occasionally have the two kids play with them in tournaments. Give me a break. WCS is like TNB— they draw kids from Seattle to SF to Dallas to Denver. Away from their regular club teams.

Yeah imagine if True or WCS had kids from Texas Nationals or 4 leaf and took those kids away from their normal club teams.

They are big, skilled but not very athletic. Defense is legit. Need more explosive offensive players. Probably 3-4 solid players away from going to the next level.

Okay trolling aside, seems like the core of TNB is True Annapolis. TNB, Madlax, Next Level, and Next Level parents… what puts TNB over the edge?

Agree with this. Defense was actually very good, offense needs help. Parents were friendly. If your kid plays attack/middie worth a look.

Who should take their place in elite next year?
