They had a plan in place for if/when Manhasset went into their inevitable stall and it looked well-practiced. Their offense and defense looked sharp. I think what cost them the game was their goalie's mistakes. She tried to do too much, and it cost them dearly. That was the one deficiency I saw and Manhasset capitalized on it. When you play a great team, they're going to find your weak spots. Besides that, it looked like a championship game between two championship teams. Great game to watch, except for the delayed start. We watched it on NFHS so it wasn't too bad. I especially enjoyed watching BBP try to break the stall at the end, that was pretty exciting! Manhasset showed tremendous discipline there. I was impressed by both. It was a championship game through and through.

Unimpressed by North port. Faceguarded Pequa’s best player took her out of the offense, she still owned the draw. NPt goalie came up big. CR Out coached Pequa and the officials took back a goal. All that said they will win states.

Never saw someone pull their goalie so early in a game. Tough call as their goalie was great roaming the crease

Great players and coaches know and plan for ways to get out of that. Surprised the score was even that close.NP a much better team that had an off day and still won because they decided to.

That’s the type of play that does not translate well to the college style of play. Not impressed at all by either team

Whens the last time wantagh won a county title? talk about getting out-coached! Easy, they were with one of their top girls, UNC commit. Would have been a different game. Stop your nonsense and be happy that you got lucky there! Not from manhassett just a fan. Over the years wantagh had teams that should have won including this year. Parents run those coaches. Non of the past coaches have been strong enough or non tenured so makes you vulnerable. Wantagh last won in 2017 (C's) and before that 2015 (B's). They made semi's in 2016 and finals in 2018, 2019, & 2021. No 2020 due to Covid. In 2018 & 2019 they lost in finals to Cold Spring Harbor who went on to win states both years. Not too shabby. They always have a lot of talent but they have also had at least 5 coaching changes in the 7 years. Lack of consistency is an issue from a coaching perspective. Parents are parents and they ar no worse than other teams.

I personally don’t like the stall game either, but until a shot clock is put in high school lacrosse, why not take advantage of the rules? Scoring too soon leads to a chance for the other team to come back (see the Manhasset boys LI Championship game last year against Mt Sinai).

Lax on the Island remains strong. Great to see the HS teams and their fans yesterday. Some would also say it’s more difficult to get off the Island than to win the states. Congrats to all the teams! Well done!

Well done! Unfortunately, when they leave LI to play MD teams and CT teams, it’s not always as good as we all think. A bit of a bubble. Look how HS teams did against out of state comp this year! Hmmmm

PS - you also get to watch most of those girls play D1 lacrosse (impressive list of commits from the Juniors and Seniors of both teams), so keep watching with your daughter from stands

Because of politics and PARENTS yes wantagh Parents historically off the chart. Could b the worse. Yes all teams have parent issues wantagh happens to be at the top.

Pequa coach does not seem to understand how to utilize some of the talent she has. They have a very deep roster of strong 2023s. Northport seems to be having a lot of "off games" according to this website. Had pequa been smarter in their game plan, they'd have won. They missed six shots in the last few minutes, coach telling them not to shoot 8 meters in overtime? Come on...

A kid is the so-called best player on a team should NEVER allow herself to be face guarded. Work with your teammates to get you the ball. Get the ball in transitions, and off the end line after shots.. Now if a coach allows that player to be shut and is willing to play 6v6, then that’s another story.
NP Is top in A this year….can’t deny the record, but there are 7-10 B and C teams that would beat them. An unbiased eye would not argue that

Yes and Suffolk Coaches should be ashamed of themselves! They allowed our girls to miss their 3rd straight dinner. No excuses but selfishness and not getting opportunity of not having to sit w parents. So take it out on kids.

Its not section Xi. Let be clear here. Section XI does not book halls for dinners. Associations do all associations are run by the coaches.

Agreed that it's pretty bad that they couldn't make it happen for the Suffolk kids but the fact that the kids saw all the posts from Nassau County is besides the point. They should have done it not because of the social media.

Have your girls set screens. There's a reason why they are face guarding a player.

Single player isolation offense is just hard to watch and if you have to work that hard to get your isolation player the ball, it is probably not worth it, unless the entire rest of the team is incapable of scoring without the iso player. Most coaches, myself included, would rather bring the kid to side or restraining line and open up the 12 meter space. A 6 v 6 offense is so much easier to score with than a 7 v 7, so unless the rest of the team is incapable of scoring, you take advantage of the 6 v 6 offense that you get with a face guard.

Well said. 6 v 6 makes it easier on the offense. That said, maybe some coaches use the face guard because they do not believe their players can stop the offensive player if they get the ball.

Will be close game as the NP is good but not great. (A’s on LI are very weak top to bottom) I think Northport wins 10-8 Agree Westhampton can get to the state finals but they get smoked by Victor who is the Best team in the state!! C Manhasset ROLLS. Top 10 C teams in the state are on the island. win the island and you win the State. D Bronxville vs CSH will be a battle. Great coaching staff for CSH can be the difference
