suffolk is not having a dinner. It is not a section xi thing. Its the suffolk county girls lacrosse coaches association who decided not to honor our girls. The association should be embarrassed! This will be year three of no awards dinner. These kids look foward to that night. All coaches who are not doing anything to make it happen are at fault also! We produce the best lacrosse players in the country and chose not to honor. them again. Its a disgrace.
Wow that's terrible. Every parent should voice their displeasure to their section and coaches organization. If someone has the info post a link.

Coach said they book that about a year in advance. We were still wearing masks at that point in the fall. Would be tough to book awards night for 600-700 people if that’s the case.

Suffolk County should be embarrassed! Totally dropped the ball on this. If Nassau can figure it out, they can too! Disgrace.

This is exactly right. East Wind needed a commitment in the winter and with the rise in numbers at the time it didn't make sense to commit financially if they weren't sure it would happen. All of these kids get recognition at their own team dinners, through social media etc. If you have been to this event, there are 600-700 people. Everyone talks over all the presentations and people leave as soon as their kids receive their awards. It is def. not a very personalized night.

really you must be one of the coaches who dropped the ball. Basketball had their dinner in the middle of the rise they had 600-700 people there.
complete BS! Most high schools do not have a dinner so your wrong.
Who is in charge of association? And the kids love it lots!! maybe not parents and coaches. But who is it suppose to be about.

There are plenty of places dying to book events and make up for lost revenue. Excuses, excuses and don't hide behind the covid rise, buy a ticket and stay home it's your choice, the girls should be given their night

It's supposed to be about the kids,. Just take a look at the names leading the organization, if it's not about themselves or their pockets they're not interested.

We can all voice our opinions on here about how disrespectful and disgraceful it is to not have a dinner. The only way to make changes is remove the people in power and clean the swamp.
Soccer did the same thing,it just comes down to some folks just don’t want to do their jobs wether it getting paid or volunteer. The varsity coaches are almost all to blame for not standing up for their players.I think there is a committee and chairman who is directly responsible.Blow up his/her email and phone

Would love to! Who is in charge? I cannot believe the incompetent lazy coach that commented blaming COVID. Just plain embarrassing!

Looks like a couple of refs submitted their resumes for summer jobs to CR during the NP v WM game.

Northport survives another close one thanks to the refs calling a fake charge which should have actually been a foul on NP for running into a player. Watch the film, terrible call

It’s sad this has to even be said. Officiating was awful this year. The game needs to change: shot clock, calling more charges and dangerous shots, counting fouls (like basketball), while also adding another official might make it less skewed towards hyper-aggressive one dimensional players.

BBP brought their home field ref to todays game who helped them win 10-4. Even on the field. Not in the flag category.

3 officials did this game. They should go review their work.

Wildly running through the 8 into defenders is a charge not shooting space, extending your arms and cross into an offensive player is a cross check, and for a non contact sport, SWR girls were knocked to the ground a lot with no consequence. Too many girls on the field is a delay of game.

It’s not opinion, those are the rules in the handbook. Highly rated officials should know them.

Good luck to BBP in the LIC.

Same happened in the RP game.totally one sided almost intentional in the second half. The NP vs WM refs should not be allowed to ref again period just awful.
At the end the the WH vs coms before OT was just a mess of officiating as well.starting and stopping for no reason

You don't need to add another bad official the field. They need to recruit young women who played the game in college and now work on Long Island to become officials.

Same kind of nonsense in the NP game. Officials decided the game when they called a charge on WM. You can watch for yourself on LILJ Insta. NP defender deliberately ran into the WM girl. You have to have feet planted for a charge call. WM should have had a free position and would have tied the game there. This is just one example of a multitude of bad calls on WM. Not saying WM would have won, but the game would have not been decided by a bad ref call. The girls deserve better

Old men who probably never played men’s lacrosse shouldn’t be officiating women’s games. The refs should be accountable and have repercussions for poor officiating. Most games are on tape so it’s not one team or coaches word against another.there should be a governing body for such.

Just ref the game with the rules that are in place too much cross checking and physical play. Thats why we have 3-2 game finals and that's with an overtime. No one wants to watch skilled players be mauled all game by players instructed by coaches to do so. Then call the kids floppers

For you and all the other know it all parents in BBP and Northport who feel your win was not aided by poor officiating- Major fouls from US Lacrosse rules book: Maybe read them before you take issue with someone complaining about the officiating. I can guarantee the film of these games will include all of the fouls below committed by both teams in any game. Either ignore them for both teams or enforce them for both teams at least be consistent and at a minimum, call the fouls that could lead to a players injury.

2. CHARGING A player may not charge, barge, push or back into (thereby making contact with) an opponent who has already established a legal body position. MAJOR FOUL CONSIDERATIONS: BLOCK / CHARGE Body Contact Any decision related to body contact is a judgement call which must be made with regard to the following principles: • It is the duty of each player not to initiate illegal contact USA LACROSSE WOMEN’S OFFICIALS’ MANUAL 51 A D A D Charge by Attack Charge by Attack A D Charge by Attack • Any player is entitled to a legal field position, provided that the player does not cause contact in taking such a position and that the player allows the opponent a chance to stop and/or change direction, thus avoiding contact • Incidental contact will occur in the game of women’s lacrosse. When contact occurs, the official must determine if the contact was incidental or illegal. If illegal, the player initiating the contact is responsible for the foul and shall be penalized

5. DANGEROUS CONTACT (MANDATORY CARD) Any action that thrusts or shoves any player (with or without the ball) who is in a defenseless position. This includes but is not limited to: head down, from out of the visual field, in the air, or out of balance, especially in the kidneys, ribs, lower back, shoulder blades or aimed at the neck or head.

7. DANGEROUS PLAY a. Player actions that are rough, threatening, and /or are without regard to player safety. May be carded. b. Official’s judgment must consider skill level and safety of players. Preventative officiating can help deescalate dangerous play.

11. FORCING THROUGH A player, while in possession of the ball, may not try to force their stick through an opposing stick(s).

18. ILLEGAL STICK TO BODY CONTACT A player may not lower the head of the stick into a horizontal position and make stick to body contact with any opponent. Horizontal Stick a. A horizontal stick held by a player who is participating in play is in an illegal position. If stick-to-body or body-tostick contact occurs by a player whose stick is in a horizontal position, a foul will be called on that player. A horizontal stick is defined as one where the head of the stick is below 10 o’clock or 2 o’clock. b. “Meet and greet” contact between opponents when sticks are held in legal, upright positions is considered legal play. c. If an attack player charges into a defender who has their stick in a legal position, it is a foul on the attack only. If the defense has her stick in an illegal (horizontal) position, both players are committing fouls and the result is an alternating possession. d. If an attack player is setting a pick on an opponent and is holding the stick in a horizontal position, this is a foul on the attack if contact is made with the stick. e. A defender may drop the stick into a horizontal position to fill passing lanes, shadow an opponent’s stick and occupy more space provided there is no contact. Cross Check Players are not permitted to use the shaft of the stick to hit, push, or displace an opponent. This includes but is not limited to thrusting, jabbing, pushing, or displacing any part of an opponent’s body.

20. PUSHING A player may not push the opponent with a hand or with the body.

That’s what was explained to me by a coach, didn’t know that. Still in this case, the foul should have been on the NP defender for running into the offensive player and knocking her to the ground. Was there another explanation for what happened? That’s what I saw.

So the SWR charges that were instead awarded FP shots were ok... but the BBP ones werent? right.... And all of the dangerous contact by the SWR players after whistles that were not called... somehow that was the refs favoring BBP, too? Get a grip... you lost fair and square, and it wasnt even close.

I would love to play bbp with no refs.we’ll see who wins and who gets laid out.without the calls bbp is nothing.both their semi and final games were decided in the second half by the refs.that’s the common denominator in those games.I would love to see a stat of how many free positions goals they scored as opposed to an actual assist or dodge.from what I’ve seen bbp runs in and tries to draw shooting space.

Keep going... keep exposing your lack of knowledge of the game, and your one-sided analysis... just because you say it, doesnt mean its true... you lost. its ok... move on

This has to be a dad who doesn’t understand the game and still living in terms of when I played….
Drawing shooting space means that the team is playing bad or illegal defense. You aren’t talking about driving to draw contact or a charge which I get could be viewed as arbitrary by refs but shooting space is Easy call for the refs when a team plays bad defense.

It’s arbitrarily one sided.bbp doesn’t do anything different than other teams .the only difference is they get the call by charging in after they waste 3-4 minutes passing it around way outside the 8 meter.a shot clock is needed to stop stalling teams like bbp and make them go to goal within 90 seconds.it’s hard to play “great defense”when you have to defend for excessive amounts of time.
