Recognizing that your post is just a troll to take some heat off of CHC's implosion.........It has been 9 years? since Loyola won the MIAA and I have assumed for the last year (since the self-owned loss to BL in the playoffs) this means a quiet recruitment campaign is underway for a new coaching staff. In some ways perhaps this isn't fair to the current HC as I believe he took over from Rubeiro (sp) in 2019, then had to contend with Covid etc. Everyone I know in the Loyola circle loves the D coach but it's clear that the school's administration doesn't see him as a potential HC for the program. I would not be surprised to see him become a HC for an MIAA-B or C team, and he will do fine in that role.

As far as CHC, look, I know everyone thinks the Kellys will stick around forever at CHC but at some point, BK is going to be offered a college coaching job and he is going to take it. CHC's program is not cratering, and Kelly will be the HC next year and all will be fine (sort of). As with Loyola, if CHC goes too many years without winning MIAA and/or nailing a top 5 national ranking, change will happen.

Not a Patriot Dad but I completely agree; JC is much improved and I can see a few more teams falling to them this year. What was once considered an easy win is no more! Nice Job to Coach Reynolds and that varsity team - scrappy and fights in all 4 quarters. Dons beware.....another Upset Special?

JC is a really nice team but talent wise they are B level. They beat a worse MSJ team and a CH team that is absolutely reeling. I hope they keep winning but think it highly unlikely.

The comment about long benches and its effects well predates pandemic-started happening YEARS earlier...

Success by ALL teams is what will continue to make the league even more exciting to watch in years ahead. Go somewhere you can play and improve as a student athlete.

The challenge is they would be at top of B and win every game handily. This would not be beneficial in terms of challenging players to get better. That is where JC was at one point in time. Keep the boys at home in Belair instead of standing on sidelines for other teams and they will improve.

No doubt, long benches predated Covid. CHC has a well oiled training program and perennially recruits 10-15 top lacrosse players. However, due to the pandemic, they couldn't train or develop them, Other Schools especially the smaller ones, have no player development programs to speak of. They count on picking the right 3-5 recruits per year and rolling the dice with these kids. If I'm running a program, I would like to pick 15 (maybe there's 10 top recruits there) and train/develop them for 1-2 years and see what happens. Invariably due to the law of averages, I will have a better and definitely deeper team than my competitors. See three straight championships. Now due to Covid, I've lost some of my competitive advantage albeit temporarily. Two big outcomes when you don't have a deep well defined bench: 1) it lessens competition (steel sharpens steel) and 2) you don't weather injuries as well. Hence smaller programs can knock you off because your ability to run a deep well developed team (4-5 attackmen, 4-5 close defensemen, 3 keepers, 3 FOGOs, and 9 strong middies (counting SSDMs)) has been diminished.

No, they will start a strong rebound campaign beginning this Friday night with a win against MCD. The student body will be out in force to support them. I'm picking the Cardinals to win by 2 or 3.

Did Severn Win or Did BL lose it???

I think in terms of education JC is just a glorified public school. I know my son looked at the school and got the sense they were not going to offer anything more than what Bel Air offered in terms of education for $18000. There is MUCH MORE TO HS then Lacrosse; I know shocking!!!

I have 2 kids. Oldest went to Fallston, the younger went to private. Both good experiences. But my youngest was REALLY challenged academically at private school.

I won’t say where my second kid went to stay out of the fray, but JC, LB and CH all offered us good aid packages.
We chose one of those and it was money well spent. Great advisement and high-end college-prep academics. But I will add- sciences were tougher in public, whereas fine arts and math was harder at private. I liked that my kids were getting the religious side too.

No dog in the fight but after watching the game, Severn controlled the game. The coaches strategized and the players executed. Severn maintained long possessions and BL struggled to get their offense going against the solid defensive play of Severn. Goalie play on teams was impressive. Severn struggled to clear at times. The FOGO for Severn won every single faceoff in the last 3 quarters, impressive.

I’d say Severn won.

Interesting developments at LB. The HC's administrative support is now at the Prep in Philly. New athletic field investments and lots of alum's kids from the late 80s, an era when LB dominated the A Conference, add to the pressure to compete for the championship year in and year out. LB will make the playoffs and with their D are in a great position to knock someone off in the quarters.

Severn is extremely well coached and has the best FOGO in the Conference. They have to remain healthy to make the semis as they don't have a deep bench. We've seen them beat SP and BL but lose to McD. Very nice program. With Severn playing well, the best programs are now from the AA County: SM, Spalding and Severn. Why is that? Do they have better rec and club programs? Clearly this has occurred. Why is the question.

Than is used in comparisons as a conjunction - Gilman has more to offer THAN Bel Air. Then is an indication of time. So thank you for proving my point again.

Their defense will keep them in it, but the coaching at LB is bad and will undoubtedly be completely overhauled next year - at least from an assistant/offensive side.

Premature to draw any kind of conclusions.

Gosh, private school at $18K? Can’t even call yourself a qtr zip…

… IAC tuitions >$50K/yr. And yes, the academics, sports, networking are worth it.

Actually he was recruited by two top tier schools as a rising freshman and again this year as a rising junior. He wanted to play with his peers and has some pride in his community. Just be glad he’s not making your son ride the bench with the other 35 kids that will never see the field. Yes he’s committed to a High academic D1 program not bad for a poor public school kid….

LBs offense is their Achilles Heel and will be the cause of them not making the playoffs this year. Hard to believe with that defense; everything else is in place. Time for change it appears.

Saturday, we at Catonsville will Severna Park, and Broadneck couldn’t do and that is beat an MIAA “A” conference school. We will beat them them by enough to show we belong. We have the best goalie in the country and one of the top defenders and great pieces throughout the lineup. Book it

When you lose by 5 to the worst team in the A conference, promise us you’ll go away quietly.

What? Every single Catonsville alumni is reading this inarticulate, bad grammar, missing words, periods and capital letters …word vomit and saying we just proved public school education speaks for itself. Please at least read your comment twice before hitting send. What did you try to say? Who are you playing as no one follows Catonsville? Best goalie in the country? Are you him after a six pack tonight?

Is the USA Lacrosse cover a curse? Overrated and easily shut down.

Same goes for All American status. Almost as it the famous dads can't help on the field.

The top three teams in the MIAA are St. Marys, Severn, and Spalding. Perhaps Baltimore should just give up on lacrosse. Anne Arundel rules!
