Ok anonymous ex-Liberty current YJ B parent!
The team rankings made on May 20th before the season are clear reasons why they play the games. But Liberty Black clearly was the upside surprise in the tournament and YJ-Stadler played the best team ball of the weekend.
Great day for Long Island lacrosse. And we all did not have to travel too far.

There’s not enough good competitive teams to just play on Long Island. Top teams need to travel. Even the Maryland teams will travel. Queen of the Island is this weekend. Both YJ teams will dominate. Law of contrapositives states differently for the Gaghan squad. If FLG beat Liberty Black then FLG is better. If FLG beat Tradition then FLG is better. If Tradition beat Gaghan then Tradition is better. Therefore there is a high likelihood that Gaghan gets throttled by any team in the field. It doesn't work like that in sports. It's all about matchups. I'm not saying that will be the case with YJ Gaghan, but it happens more than you'd think. Plus, teams playing a team they think to be significantly weaker, often play sloppy. Not always, but enough that there can be some surprises.

Great day for Long Island lacrosse. And we all did not have to travel too far. Ok anonymous Liberty black parent. Whatever makes you feel better. You will continue to lose your top players. They want to be on the best team and it isn’t Liberty. This is when those shifts start to happen. Liberty is no longer a top A team.

Ok YJA daddy. Your team wasn’t missing any of its top players so don’t make excuses. Also, since your team is so dominant and deep with talent, it shouldn’t really matter if you were missing any players.

Don't read too much into results. Girls who are still playing with their high school teams couldn't play. This is likely why some of the YJA games were closer than you would expect. Lol. Stop trolling. YJ parent here and we had everyone. The games we played were close because they are 12.

Per NYSPHSAA rules, since they have played a club game during the high school season, their high school team would forfeit if they even dress for another game.

So if this is true then all the travel kids from last year and on , who played in several travel games , while in their HS season, they all had to forfeit those games, then a lot of good teams would of been knocked out of there playoffs then.

How come we do not include two way players. Score goals ground balls and of course play defense. Complete players

There are lots of teams the use the 2027 7th grade route while actually the girls age is that of the 2026 group, you can have 6 months to a year difference in some of the player and maybe more if the parents held the kids back.

Live from Jersey…..YJ parent tent calls an emergency Zoom meeting with carol to address daddy/mommy ball and for a tutorial on basic offensive concepts. If their offense is designed to go 1 on 3 from top of the 12, then they executed quite well Well, coaching is clearly a challenge for YJA, but I don't think it is the biggest challenge. After watching them this Saturday and in the fall, for me the biggest challenge is roster composition. All of their starting attackers and middies (and several key backups) have incredibly individual talent -- probably the best on the island and some of the best in the nation. Based on sum of talent, not sure any team in the country can compete. The problem is this -- every one of their 7 offensive starters in a ball dominant players, meaning they need the ball in their stick to be effective. They are at their best playing 1:1 and in a wide open game. the problem is that against any sophisticated and disciplined defense, this isn't enough. You need people to cut off ball to strategically create space, you need to be able to feed effectively. Quite simply -- you need role players. If you watched YJB this weekend, you saw a completely different level of off-ball movement YJA doesn't have them or at least doesn't have players willing to do this. With the current roster, this isn't a simple fix. Even if CR coached the team herself, while it would be much better, I am not sure they will win like they have in the past. This doesn't mean they won't win any big games this summer. They defense is the strength of the team and their ride will create more than its fair share of turnovers -- which YJA can convert into scores as well as anyone. But stringing 5 or 6 games together to win tournaments will be tough.

Bringing a girl from the 2026 team to play while a goalie who is really a 2027 sits on the sideline because you don't think she's any good is a bit different.
